I don't know if it's the best Chinese food in Brooklyn, but it's damn good. I grew up in Brooklyn, and it definitely reminds me of the Chinese spots from back in my old neighborhood. My wife and I had a large chicken and broccoli with an egg roll and a shrimp roll. The chicken and broccoli was solid. The shrimp roll was a little fishy, but still tasty, and the pork rolls were also good. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other staples. Definitely recommend checking it out. read more

I spent a day lounging and decided I wanted Chinese for dinner. I called ahead to place my order via phone since it was 15-20 min walk. The place is your standard no frills take-out. I ordered General Tso Chicken with fried rice, an egg roll and 4 chicken wings. The general Tso chicken was ok but the fried rice was bland and only had onions and bean sprouts. If you look at this place and assume it's the same as every other Chinese spot in the area, you are wrong. This is better. The easiest demonstration of this is the homemade fried pork dumplings. There are Chinese places closer to me, Chinese places that deliver to me, but I choose to bike or drive to pick up food from here. If you are ever craving "slutty chinese food" in brooklyn, LHK is famous as a bed-stuy institution. Upon entering, one is greeted with multiple signs on the walls proudly declaring "BEST rated chinese restaurant in Brooklyn / New York." The rest of you may disagree but I, for one, still cannot understand all the hype behind this place for a couple of reasons: 1) They do not offer any delivery services - period. Say good bye to any hopes of ever ordering delivery from them on grubhub, doordash, ubereats, etc. I also found it a bit hard to understand the speaker when calling ahead to place my order. 2) The filling of the steamed shrimp dumplings had a strange mouthfeel that I found to be somewhat off-putting - stick to pork fried dumplings which at least have a crispy exterior that contrasts nicely with the plump pork filling. 3) While their honey fried wings are popular, I found them to be underwhelming, even with the famous house "mambo sauce." The same holds true for their General Tso's chicken - while it was decent, it just wasn't the "slap-yo-momma-best-chinese-in-brooklyn" that I was hoping for. 4) As this place is cash-only, I'd feel a little better if the person handling the dirty cash was NOT the same person prepping the final stages of the food for orders (or at least wear gloves when doing the latter), especially in the wake of COVID-19... Don't get it twisted: I respect the owner's hustle - Sue was clearly the hardest-working MVP there, multi-tasking to keep operations running smoothly. I wish her all the best as she has clearly figured out a winning formula for her food to appeal to nearby residents. As this restaurant is out of the way for me in bed-stuy, I biked here with high hopes but ended up with the standard american-chinese food experience. For the above-mentioned reasons, I probably won't make the trek here again. read more

They take their time making your order... because of that, it's always perfect. I mean it, especially the dumplings and fried rice! Considering that I am, ahem, 'The Duke' of Lucky House a review is indeed in order. Now as a lifelong Brooklynite, outside of that 3+ years need for a change in Jersey City, I feel I'm a great judge of hoodtastic Chinese fast food. I've had some horrible experiences right in the neighborhood, to say the least, but Lucky House - fortified with an 'actual' Sue and not just a stereotypical/standard name for the older lady behind the counter/bulletproof glass - makes the search for a decent spot in the Stuy totally worth it. First off, they have A LOT of tasty vegetarian and vegan options. And they don't charge extra for brown rice. Technically, that's all I have to say - but I will say more. The price? Can't beat it. What they save on not having to pay a delivery dude they make up for on the (relative) quality of the ingredients and the price point. And they'll even sometimes throw in a lil' something something for free (I really just mean some extra sauce). Extra-special: the posterboard sign that proclaims them as a the #1 Bed-Stuy chinese restaurant on YELP. Don't judge that negatively. It's dope. Quick, efficient, and delicious. Exactly what I wanted for a Chinese food fix. The fried shrimp dumplings are outstanding. The egg drop soup was hot and peppery with tons of egg. Everything was served up super hot and fresh as soon as I arrived. I live a short 10 mins walk away. The menu prices have almost doubled from the menus you see here on yelp, so keep that in mind and bring enough cash. What I thought was going to cost $10.50, cost $18, but it's enough food for 2 nights so I'm not complaining. Didn't have the pleasure of being served by Sue.
