Great Chinese food! I usually go to Lucky's House Chicken on Lewis Ave. and Halsey St. I will definitely come here again next time I visit Brooklyn.

This is supposed to chicken noodle soup. It looks like mystery meat.

I used to eat here over 30 years ago during my Law Enforcement career. That's when you had the real Chinese cooks on there. They have replaced their cooks with Mexicans. I recently ordered food from here and it was trash. One of the items I ordered was a large chicken noodle soup. It is supposed to have all white meat chicken and it used to, now there is mystery meat. Their shrimp with broccoli is tasteless now, nothing is the same.

BOTTOM LINE: Order what you wish, thank me later. TIP/S: Call ahead when possible, as there is a 20-minute, or so, wait for in-person ordering. ...WHO: party of 3 WHY: New biz location opening during COVID-19 WHAT: (Deets) Es, my nephew J & I visited because we were in the area and I wanted to share the tastes of a Brooklyn staple with Es. I had the shrimp mei fun, a go-to that Baxter put me on to over a decade ago. Of course it was delicious, I've never gone wrong ordering this. The flavor is subtle, but definitely present. FYI, You can get whatever kind of protein you wish added to the noodle dish. I also love fried and/or sautéed liver, so I decided to try their rendition, it do not disappoint. It was DELISH, perfectly seasoned and even retained most of its crispiness, despite being in the plastic container with steam for over 20 mins. Yum yum yum. I also recommend the General Tso's chicken, and the chicken wings. WHEN: 7/14/20 6:15pm-ish WHERE: take away HOW: car/ bike/ public transportation Myrtle Ave bus BATHROOM: closed to the public while dine-in is unavailable WIFI: did not use DRESS CODE: as you wish SERVICE: Cordial staff and be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes for your food. Call ahead time order, when possible.

I was happy to see there was a Chinese restaurant that was actually open near me. I called ahead to order and then walked over to pick up my meal. When I arrived, it was fairly busy and my order was ready. I was planning to pay with credit card, but the locals informed me that this establishment only takes cash. Thankfully, I always carry some with me and had no problem getting my food. I ordered the pepper steak combo, complete with with roast pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also got the shrimp wontons, which came with sweet and sour sauce. The egg roll was very crunchy, packed with vegetables. I think there was too much outer shell, which was quite thick. The roast pork fried rice was just okay. There wasn't a ton of roast pork and was slightly on the bland side. The steak came with green peppers and onion and this was pretty good. The dish was coated with yummy sauce and the steak was tender and tasty. The peppers and onion were nice and fresh. Shrimp wontons were cutely wrapped and delightfully crispy, but the shrimp filling was not as flavorful as it could be. Another time one of my roommates ordered the broccoli and shrimp. I found the shrimp to be large sized and extremely juicy, packed with flavor from the brown sauce. The broccoli was cooked to perfection as well, boasting just the right consistency with a satisfying crunch. The prices were reasonable. For instance, the combination platters are around $9-11 and the fried wonton shrimp was only $6.25. I would be open to trying other menu items but with so many other options, it won't be for awhile.

I had to visit my favorite Chinese restaurant. It has been a while since our last viSit. If you are a True Brooklynite then you know that this is a Brooklyn staple! We have been coming here for decades. Everyone knows that Kum Kau this is the truth. You should always get 1. The pink lemonade, always!! 2. Scallion pancakes. 3. Crab Rangoon. Those are just the starters/appetizers/must haves. Now these my favorite meals 1.Sweet and sour chicken combination with spring roll and vegetables fried rice. 2.Chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce combination with spring roll and vegetables fried rice. 3. General Tso's chicken combination with spring roll and vegetables fried rice. Currently due to covid they only offer take out. Call ahead to place an order. Once they are fully opened & you are comfortable doing so, bring friends/family and sit in the back room. Extra tips: Have the fried ice cream. *Also tip the gentleman that holds the door for you. He is part of the experience, community, & it is an unwritten rule to do so. If you claim Brooklyn, be Brooklyn.

I was tild told is THE best Chinese food in Brooklyn. It was pricey to say the least. The wait time was longer than expected. The anticipation was high! But alas... I was unable to garner a four or five star experience because there were eggs in my rice. Not sure why eggs are automatically included in fried rice. I am willing to try again. But will be more specific with my order. To be updated!

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.

The pork with garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. This one isn't spicy so it didn't numb the mouth. The mapo tofu was also delicious and a little spicier but still not numbing the mouth. Def better to have it with rice though. The green pepper fish was mouth numbing and honestly I couldn't taste much of the flavor because the combination of spice and the hot temperature of the food was overbearing for me. So if you're like me and can tolerate some spicy but not numbing spicy then I would recommend telling them less spicy. Portions were perfect for 5 people (3 males and 2 females) as we ordered 2 of the pork with garlic sauce, 2 mapo tofus, and 1 big green pepper fish dish. We went on a Saturday at 5:30pm so it wasn't too crowded. Overall delicious and the staff were all friendly and very attentive in filling up our water for our spicy meal. There was nothing that I ordered that needed ketchup. Nothing. There wasn't even soy sauce in the bag. Then had the unmitigated gall to charge $22 for the salt baked shrimp and told me I had to pay $5 extra to substitute the lo mein for white rice. Who is eating white rice with shrimp? Girl bye. I'm not paying almost $30 for one meal from a hood Chinese spot. If there's no heat in your establishment, your prices need to be in lowercase. If it looks like you might catch staph in your establishment, your prices need not to be so loud. I also believe they overcharged me. They did have a sign saying that the prices went up, but I think they may have been too cheap to print out a new menu if that was the case. I was going off of what they had on the wall for the general public. So as I stated, I ordered crab Rangoon ($7, allegedly), honey wings ($7, allegedly), a shrimp egg roll ($2, allegedly), spare rib tips with fried rice ($12, allegedly). My total was $31. My assumption is they probably charged me extra for pork fried rice, which I didn't ask him for. I know for a fact they are not charging tax because there's no way that you're forcing people to pay in cash while also charging them for taxes that you don't pay. The crab Rangoon was actually pretty decent even though I didn't have the sauce that comes with it. The honey wings were OK. They actually taste more like honey BBQ. I prefer C&Y honey wings. It's real honey and stay hot for an hour due to the way honey maintains heat. I also don't appreciate when these spots chop up a wing and call it two wings. 1 wing is the entire thing. STINGY. The spare rib tips I don't like and neither do I like their pork fried rice. The rice is a bit bland and I don't like those large spare rib tips. I prefer the boneless spare rib tips that C&Y has. A shrimp roll is a shrimp roll is a shrimp roll. It wasn't too bad and it was actually pretty happy. The shrimp was a little bit larger than those baby shrimp that they normally stuff in shrimp rolls. Their pricing is on par with C&Y yet I don't have no issues paying what they ask and their food is good aside from their lo mein. They are not stingy and have pretty decent customer service unlike the guy who took my order here who paused my order to take another order over the phone and tend to the person behind me. This is what I get for cheating on my spot and being lazy when they both were far af.
