Thai custard, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodle
    Amanda W.

Thai food is always on point especially with their spicy things, we love that. Ordered some usual noodle dishes to try out. Pad see ew was good, the smell of the dish threw me off a lil, it do have nice color tho, yet lots of noodles but not enough ingredients in terms of the ratio to noodles. I finished all my veggies and added protein and had 5-6 bites of noodle left. 8/10 They did however made me very happy bc I asked for extra spicy and it was delivered perfectly :) Drunken noodle did not miss, it was super delicious. From the spicy aspect to the freshness of the bell peppers. 10/10. Thai custard is ok. Should've ordered mango sticky rice instead, in my opinion. 6/10

It was a rainy day, and I decided to get lunch with my girlfriend at Coco Thai. We came in around 2:00 and it wasn't very busy, plenty of tables to choose from. The waitress poured glasses of water for us and we began browsing the menu. Out of curiosity, we decided to try the "beef noodle soup," essentially their version of pho. We also ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, requesting it extra spicy. The noodle soup was interesting. I'm not convinced the broth was fresh, and it was sweeter than typical pho broth, but it wasn't bad either. The noodles were okay, but the bean sprouts, cilantro, and basil should have been fresher. The beef was also iffy. My guess is that this isn't one of the more popular items here. The drunken noodles were tastier, and, I was happy to note, spicy. The noodles were a bit too soft, and the quality of the ingredients could have been better, but it was still enjoyable. Of those dishes we tried, that's the one I'd recommend the most. Overall, pretty average Thai restaurant. I'd suggest ordering takeout/delivery, as the dine-in experience was unappealing.

One of my to go spot near prospect park when I have a Thai craving. This place is bloomed with flavor and spice. Trust them when they say the dish is spicy because my mouth was on fire but it was just so delicious. I cooled it off with Thai ice tea; that always does the trick. I miss the times of dining in the restaurant but I also appreciate that the restaurant can retain its flavor and portion when ordering to go during the pandemic. My favorite has always been their drunken noodles, spicy fried rice, and pork belly with Chinese vegetable. I would skip the squid because its not as crunchy and it's a bit too chewy. Overall, one of my favorite Thai place in Brooklyn!

We ordered not-spicy ... CLEAR on My Yelp Order .... they just ignore it; they just send whatever they want... Knowing that we're not going to open up the bag until we get into the house and close the door... Do not order from this place!!!!!!

We were walking by Prospect Park and wanted Thai food for take out. I'm glad I stumbled upon Coco Thai since they had the option to add crispy pork to your noodles. We opted for the pad see ew and pad kee mao with crispy pork for both. The dishes were huge and super tasty!!! I just wish they didn't come with as many boiled carrots, but I'll make sure to note that for next time when I come back :)

Coco Thai brings Thai food to the heart of park slope. It is clearly a winner in this quiet cute neighborhood. Recommend getting apps to share like the mango salad, fried shrimp rolls. The drunken noodle with fried duck was excellent. Also the deep fried whole red snapper was a sweet and tangy delight. Add a Thai iced tea or coffee to your meal to make it complete. Consider a mango sticky rice for dessert

I see a lot of 1-star reviews but today i dined in for lunch and had a great meal. The kitchen did seem to get the wrong rice, but the hostess/waitress was rly great about it and fixed it immediately. I could see how that might be an issue if it were delivery; it seems to be a chronic issue with a hasty person - i say this because it was neither busy nor crowded and there was only 1 takeout order. I had one of the crispy rolls to start, they were very good. Entree was beef basil, and it was even better than i hoped for at this price point. The sticky sweet coconut rice was only moderately sweet and coco-nutty, but still acceptable. I will be back in person to eat here again.

The pad see yew here is really amazing but I have a sour taste in my mouth after the last couple times that I ordered. My 2nd to last order was very mushy and not as tasty as the usual. My most recent order had a plastic bag in it, not too sure how that happened but this was a complete turn off. I traditionally order on Uber eats and it breaks my heart that I may not be able to eat here anymore after this experience.

    ROTI is the thing!!!

Anyone remotely near Park Slope and Windsor Terrace should get themselves over here for a surprisingly delicious and fresh experience. I was in here on a weekday night and was initially kind of saddened by how empty it was, until I realized that this is perhaps the trend for brick and mortar eateries now since all us lazy asses are ordering from the comfort of our shabby, cramped, cluttered, overheated, walk-up apartments. Because there's no way people aren't enjoying this food. It's just so good, and at such a value. There's something to be said for not having to spoon out the soupy goodness of this country's cuisine from a series of non-sustainable plastic delivery packaging. Plus, the restaurant is clean and homey, and has really interesting ethnic yet almost Appalachian-looking antiquey decor that makes you wonder further about who owns the spot, when it was established, and that whole story. I got my usual Tom Ka Soup with chicken (now becoming somewhat of a gauge for comparing Thai spots), then took the plunge and went for spicy Panang Curry with Squid, even though I've been really let down by so many Panangs that are too sweet-and-sour, yet somehow bland at the same time. Now pay attention here...even knowing that the curry dish would come with rice, I got starch-greedy and ordered a side of roti when I saw that it was available. Thai roti ()...it's a thing, dense, chewy, and delightfully flaky all at once, kind of like Indian paratha. I couldn't believe it when the roti came out and almost stole the show put on by a solid Tom Ka soup and a dimensional, spicy, sophisticated Panang curry that tasted like it had really been COOKED instead of kind of warmed up from a vat. And you know, I wouldn't care how they made it because it tasted amazing and was served efficiently with a warm smile. There was neither hovering nor negligence on the part of the staff, and I got to enjoy a private dinner for two that can't have been more than $30, and that included starters, sides, Southeast Asian beer, and the delightful mains. Being here has stopped me from haphazardly ordering Thai food when feeling lazy. Next time I crave Thai, I'm going to treat the craving with respect and make the few block walk to here.

Ordered in UberEats: Drunken Noodles with tofu n spicy Drunken Noodles with chicken and no vegetables non-spicy Curry puff Sticky Rice All together total was $41+ The Dunken Noodles has like a cupboard paper in it! Another Chicken drunken noodles wasn't even the one I ordered (it has all the vege and it's spicy) my husband won't eat it The The curry puff was almost $7 and it's 3 little piece that's all my husband ate. The sticky rice are dried looks like it's leftover that they don't wanna throw away (steamed rice but dried and turned color) how? This is so disappointing spend more money to order for something that to throw away

The Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns came with stir-fried instant noodles that were surprisingly tasty, well-seasoned and aromatic, and the prawns on top made it even better. The presentation was pretty eye-catching too. As for the Ground Pork Basil Fried Egg, it didn't have lemongrass, so it felt like it was missing a layer of aroma, but the minced pork was stir-fried until nice and dry, and mixing it with the runny egg yolk made for a satisfying combo over rice. The RUA Volcano reminded me a bit of American-style salt-and-pepper chicken, though not exactly the same--it had more of an American-Chinese vibe to it. The Thai Iced Tea wasn't overly sweet and had a stronger tea flavor, which I appreciated. The Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda was sweet and tangy, refreshing and light. Overall, each dish had its own standout point, and the meal definitely lived up to expectations.

The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. Lunch in Brooklyn during in-between meetings of my professional duties of a Wednesday afternoon…read moresummons Thai cuisine. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

The restaurant is tiny, so be sure to make a reservation. As a lover of spicy food, the spiciness in the dishes really brought out such a great flavor. Since my friend didn't eat as spicy, we found a happy medium getting just slightly spicy dishes which were all fantastic. We ordered the Khao Soi ($33) and Pla Tod Nam Pla ($40). The khao soi wasn't too spicy, especially since the broth has a creaminess and the spicies are on the side before mixing, which you can exclude. The chicken was so tender, but did come with bone so this can be trickier to share. Then the pla tod really surprised me, but I can definitely see why it's the best seller. It is a fried branzino with a marinated fish sauce which goes so nicely with all the crunch. There are a few remaining pieces of bone, so be careful. The fish had a nice balance of fish meat and crunchy skin. If you're looking for a unique Thai spot, this is it. Also, perfect spot for spicy lovers too. They also offer a huge selection of alcohol.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Had been passing this spot for years and finally had the chance to stop in…read more Host was polite and quickly sat us without a reservation - we wanted to sit outside and there was room thankfully. Wait staff was attentive to dietary needs, exemptions and ensured our request was followed to a T. Ordered some Khao Kriab Pak Mor (dumplings) to start along with a pair of mocktails. And an order of Khao Na Ped (smoked vegan duck) and Ginger Chicken (vegan). All served well with good portion. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.
