Oshiko Roll

I tried - oshinko roll - pickled radish. This was delicious verdant roll - this had cucumber, asparagus, tamago with honey wasabi- a definitely unique flavor and I enjoyed it. This spot has variety of vegetarian options and it's good for a quick cheap delivery in this area

I'm sorry...I paid $20 for this chicken katsu curry. This is what I got. I'll just let the photo speak for itself.

Dragon Roll - Three sushi rolls with various fillings, including cucumber, tempura, and possibly eel or fish, are arranged on a black tray decorated with green bamboo patterns. The rolls are partially wrapped in avocado and topped with a sauce or glaze. Chopsticks are positioned near the sushi, ready for eating.

I normally really like Sushi D, but the dragon roll I ordered today was significantly worse than the basic rolls and the rainbow rolls I've ordered before. The eel was really dry? I don't understand it at all. It crumbled when I picked it out of the roll and tasted like it had gone bad.

Kani salad

When a sushi place has the word "sushi" in its restaurant name, one can usually assume that the place is just average; and that's exactly what Sushi D was - forgettable and the typical norm of "just ok". Upon walking in, the place totally smelt of a strong bleach; totally like a Clorox type. The place was clean and the decor was nice, but not enough to encourage me that my meal would be up to my standards. I started with a kani salad- pretty hard to mess up - it was fine, but a little too much cucumber instead of kani. Please don't do this! I want a KANI salad; not CUCUMBER. Totally a pet peeve; all and all, it was my favorite part of the meal. Then for the main event I ordered a spicy tuna hand roll ($5.50!) and it was very strange - it had powdered wasabi and panko flakes instead of the usual smooth spicy paste. It was dry and loaded with rice; not cool. I also bought a $9 Dragon roll that was again, mostly rice and the eel was pretty nonexistent. I'm not sure if there's an eel shortage going on or what, but for $9, I was expecting a bit more "wow" factor than what I got. Ehhh... Sushi D was more like a C honestly....

Nor sure I'll ever be able to eat sushi anywhere else Beef Negemaki (they did something extra) Soft shell crab Sashimi platter (topics were to die for especially the strawberry sauce) Sushi player Pork gyoza One red wine One beer One amazing night with ABOVE AVERAGE FOOD CUSTOMER service was AMAZING Dope atmosphere Surprisingly nice music played at the right volume

A so-so sushi restaurant smack dab in downtown Brooklyn. Definitely not where you would go for truly authentic Japanese cuisine or even a bustling nightlife like you would in the city, but again its sleepy Brooklyn. I started off with a plate of BBQ chicken skewers. They were decently grilled and drizzled with a teriyaki glaze. One of the better dishes here. For my sushi, I ordered a Tempura roll and an Eel & Avocado roll. They were mehhh. Not bad, but also not the best I've had. And to round things out I ordered the vegetable fried rice. This was actually my most favorite dish out of everything they served, even though it was also obviously one of the easiest to make. Sometimes, the best food really is cheap food. :)

The kani said was very good! It had a lot more kani than I expected. Good, mild dressing.

Not the Sushi D I used to know and love. Over salted and largely flavorless soups. Freezer burned mochi. What a disappointment!

Fast service & fresh food. Sometimes the sushi rice is too thick trying to compensate for less fish. Also not enough ginger

The food... -waygu steak : cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Huge fan of the mushooms that accompanied the steak and could of easily been a dish in itself -shrimp tempura roll was decent but nothing mind blowing. -miso ceasar salad was savory and creamy. Everything you want in an exceptional salad. -karrage fried chicken PERFECTION, we ordered another for the table. I wanted to lick the spicy mayo out of the bowl but didn't want to embarrass myself. -koruto cheesecake served with black sesame ice cream, the combo was heavenly. Cheesecake wasn't too sweet with the semi savory sesame ice cream was the perfect bite. Had a few drinks -A5 which had a waygu infused bourbon miso almond and blue cheese. My husband had the kaishin don, I had the Ozakaya donburi set and our girls shared the shoyu tonkatsu ramen. The fish was so incredibly fresh here and the rice was seasoned perfectly. My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. I would definitely come back here the next time I visit Brooklyn as there were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try!

This place is super popular and I get why. It was packed but the service was insanely quick and efficient, which I appreciated. We shared the chirashi (9/10) and a spicy tuna roll (7/10) and it was honestly more than enough food for both of us. The sashimi is chef's choice so you're getting whatever's freshest that day. Overall, the quality was excellent. A couple of pieces were a little on the flavorless side, but nothing that ruined the experience. I'd still give it a solid 9/10 and would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

Lots of people came in and out for takeout orders so that seems to be more of the target audience. Service was quick and polite, we were there until 9:30 and they definitely seemed ready for us to be out of there before the 10PM closing time. As for the specialty rolls, there were some pretty creative options - don't shy away from seemingly odd combinations because the flavors really do work well together. I appreciated the rice:fish ratio on all the rolls, the rice was a thin layer letting the flavor of the other ingredients really come through. The plain spicy tuna roll on the other hand was filled with spicy tuna mixed with something crunchy - maybe puffed rice? It seemed to be an unnecessary filler, I would have preferred just fish. I enjoyed the Lovers Dream and Golden Sunset roll the most. While I was debating it while ordering, in hindsight I would definitely get two rolls per person, maybe more if you're really hungry.

I saw the strong Yelp reviews and decided to take the leap with a pickup order. We ordered two specialty rolls and a spicy tuna roll. The restaurant itself is smaller than I expected, so I'm glad we opted for takeout. The staff was super friendly, and we only waited a few minutes while they completed our order. The Mystic Dragon roll was the standout for me-absolutely delicious. It had a variety of textures that gave it a great mouthfeel. I think this was my favorite of the three. All the flavors complemented each other beautifully. The strawberry sauce was unexpected but surprisingly worked! I love unique flavor combinations, and this one did not disappoint. The Torched King roll was also excellent. Salmon is my go-to for sushi, and the light torching gave it a subtle smoky flavor that I loved. The yuzu chili sauce added a nice kick--really flavorful and well-balanced. The Spicy Tuna roll was a classic and, of course, delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. I think I just found my new go-to sushi spot in the neighborhood!
