Whenever people talk about the "good old days," I want to remind them that it doesn't matter how great it was that women couldn't vote, Grandpa, you probably had to leave your apartment (or at least talk to someone on a telephone) if you wanted fresh, delicious sushi. Kiku isn't even close to my place, I honestly have no idea where it is. I have no idea what it looks like inside. Kiku was simply the top-rated sushi spot that would deliver to me one evening. I clicked a few things, and then some sushi came to my door. And it was fresh and tasty. And so we did it again. And again. I've eaten their delicious duck buns (one time it was not good, but I think it was an anomaly), the jalapeño hamachi thing, the triple sushi (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail dinner combo that every sushi spot should have because it makes my daughter happy), and much more. And I have had zero contact with the people that make it. I just swipe and click around on my phone, and tasty food shows up at my door. This is a technological marvel. If you can't appreciate that, recalibrate your perspective. Life is good. My daughter has ordered take out for lunch several times and has never been disappointed, so we stopped in on a Thursday evening. I've been here for lunch and dinner a few different times and they're so accommodating and pleasant -- checking in with us, offering water while we wait for takeout, constantly smiling, etc. I've only ever really gotten the sushi here, but it's always got giant pieces of fish in it and is overall pretty filling. Sometimes, I'll find an occasional bone in the fish or it'll be a bit fatty but otherwise it's consistently good for the price. Especially the lunch special - Three rolls for $15 isnt bad in this neighborhood! Miso soup is also excellent. This was our favorite sushi place in Park Slope. It's always been such a treat to dine here and savor our favorite dishes. Staff was friendly, but service was a bit lacking on a Friday night. The place was clean, and the ambiance was very nice. We ordered their special roll, Grateful roll: spicy kami avocado inside, and salmon, shrimp, and tobiko too with spicy mayo on the outside. This was amazingly delicious, and the highlight of our dinner. We also ordered our usual favorite, Miso Chilean sea bass. It was served with rice, broccoli and asparagus. The miso was on a separate side dish. This was a big disappointment as the pieces of Chilean sea bass were small, tasteless, and dry. Deciding not to drink tonight, we decided to order green tea with honey and lemon. Unfortunately, the tea was also not quite the same. My family and I have frequent this RESTAURANT for eat-in and take-out or for delivery. We do not like to eat- in as there is a waitress who is quite annoying and very pushy. When I call in an order for delivery - when she takes the order we usually receive the wrong order or some dish is missing from the order. This waitress likes to hover over the eat -in customers. It is not a relaxing meal when she is working and is always annoying. The food is good and appears to always be fresh. I was in a post workout sushi kind of mood and strolled over to 5th Ave. Yelp showed some good reviews for Kiku Asian Bistro, and I decided to give it a try. I was the most important patron there, since I arrived early, and was the only diner! After a quick, friendly greeting, I selected a seat at the sushi bar. After reviewing their lunch specials, I selected the Sushi Bento Box, which comes with 4 pieces of Sushi, an 8-piece California Roll, 2 Japanese Shumai, Edamame, and a side salad or miso soup. I was dubious how this meal would be, as the total cost was only $12! The salad arrived immediately, and the Bento Box in about ten minutes. Candidly, I thought it was great. The Sushi was fresh, as was the salad. The dressing was tasty (next time I will get it on the side). The California roll is a smaller radius than typical, making it easier to eat. It was very tasty, and the edamame tasted freshly cooked. The service was excellent throughout the meal, and I was asked twice if it was to my liking, and if I wanted anything else. The traditional décor, and dark wood ambience is very pleasant. This was a great lunch, and an excellent value. I look forward to a repeat visit! read more

So where do I begin...I decided to visit Kiku for lunch because I had two pickie eaters with me. My niece only ate California rolls and she never likes to try anything. I told her she needs to try news things and she agreed. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was not crowded at all (A+), so we were able to sit closer to the television (the Olympics was on). The gentleman took our orders and returned with our beverages. Once the food arrived, I was delighted and so were they. The food was amazing, fresh, seasoned and ready to be devoured! The nice gentleman noticed my niece struggling with her chop sticksnand made her an easy to use one, by using a piece of paper and rubber band! I honestly couldn't thank him enough. Our waitress was very nice and attentive and checked to make sure we had everything we needed. Food: This was my second time eating here and I stuck to the same rolls with some additions. For my rolls, I ordered the Kiku roll and the spicy tuna roll, which is what I ordered to the first time. Both were still awesome rolls. The spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy at all for me though... Still tasted good however. My friend ordered the rockstar roll. Like always I have to order at least one piece of unagi sushi. Everything was delicious. Edamame was ordered for the table and I ordered the duck buns as an appetizer. The edamame had less salt than I would have liked but that probably was a good thing... lol. The duck buns were sweet and savory. Was glad to see that I got two with an order. Beer was a must and a Kirin Ichiban went perfectly. Customer service also really stood out - could not believe the kindness I experienced today. The waitstaff was attentive and gracious. If Kumamotos are offered anywhere, I want them. I recall the reasonable price of 3 for $10 and so I requested, '9 please.' Sweet waitstaff returns and delivers 5 K. oysters. That's all they had. Looked great and albeit just south of fresh, I enjoyed them. It's New Year's Eve and I am unfamiliar territory as we stroll along 5th Avenue looking for a place to eat. We spy a very peaceful looking Buddha in a handsome Asian Bistro and double check with Yelp to see if the place is worth our time. Brooklyn CM, Peter D's, facetiously misogynistic review seals the deal with the words "fresh and tasty" and I am glad it did because we were treated to some really good sushi. The menu is extensive here, but we decide on sashimi and sushi to share. They had a sashimi special that was really fantastic - the fish was nicely cut (read NOT thick squarish slabs) to accentuate the fish texture and flavor with interesting ingredients complimenting the fish. It was a very promising start. We ordered an assortment of rolls to share. All the maki rolls had generous amounts of fish I really enjoyed the freshness from here - Toro Scallion, Yellowtail scallion and Salmon avocado was all excellent. There was no issue in ordering a custom naruto style rolls with tuna, yellowtail, salmon and avocado - the slightly sweet ponzu sauce was really good. We also ordered a Black Angel roll off the specials menu and it was very good with shrimp tempura, kani, mango and avocado. We finished off our meal with a shared green tea ice cream that was velvety smooth with subtle green tea flavor. The space was very peaceful and I liked the decor very much - the banquet along the side makes for comfortable seating. A nice solid marble sushi bar is on the other side and a large Buddha statue overlooks all with muzak renditions of classic music - it was a nice calming vibe to help bring 2016 to an end. read more

My 2 rolls came with edamame and sui mai. The eel avocado roll was BAD, the eel is bascially non existence compared to the avocado in there. Also the eel was not heated up so it tasted REALLY fishy. Yuck. The rice was hard, tasted like day old rice, had no flavor. Both rolls lacked flavor, i couldnt even finish it. The sui mai was so bad i had to spit it out.
