Honestly pretty good! I saved this spot a while back and decided to try it last night with bae. It's pretty close to the train stop and was easy to find. We sat and ate there even though it's not really an eat in spot. They had a lot of food delivery spots came in during the time. I had the Pad see eaw (gluten free) and he had the coconut fried rice which he enjoyed. Along with the edamame which was tasty. The cashier was really kind and honestly she was pretty cool. We will def have again but maybe through DoorDash.

The service was great. I had the tempura roll. It was excellent. I also had the Penang chicken. It was fresh and flavorful, but as you can see this wasn't great quality chicken. It had a rubbery texture as if it was chicken like meat substitute. Other than that, I'll order again from here. I'll just try different proteins.

This place is down right spectacular. I pretty much go here once a week or at least every two weeks. It's affordable and fresh, I stop off on my way to work and it's $15 for 3 rolls and a bowl of miso soup. Great for winter when you just need some clean protein and a nice hot refreshing soup. Love, love, love Kiku ll. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving good sushi.

Salmon avocado roll: meh, fish could be a lot better Sweet potato roll: 10000/10 amazing Yellowtail roll: not very good, quality of fish was flavorless and kinda tough Spicy crunchy tuna roll: not spicy literally at all! Black dragon roll: delicious!

They had a promo for buy one get one free on Postmates so I couldn't resist ordering 4 spicy tuna crunch rolls and 4 sweet potato rolls. There's a few tables so dining in is a viable option if it's small groups. There was some nice relaxing music playing softly. Food was ready fairly fast, maybe 10-15 minutes. The rolls were okay, nothing special. The crunchy spicy tuna roll was mostly crunch. Not sure if I would return as I do prefer quality over quantity.

I am a big fan of the prices, quantity and quality of the food at Kiku. The sushi tastes fresh and really hits the spot when you have a craving. Would definitely recommend for classic rolls at an affordable price (their dinner set consists of 3 rolls, soup or salad and an appetizer for about $20).

New to Nostrand Avenue is this sushi + Thai spot. This review is just for the sushi, as I'll have to go back for the Thai food. I don't know if I'll ever make it back for the Thai because the sushi is so good! I got the shrimp tempura, mango/avocado roll, and the tuna/avocado roll. All of the ingredients were so fresh - the avocado and the mango both were perfectly ripe. I was hesitant to just get avocado and mango in sushi but it was the only roll i saw with mango, and because the ingredients were so fresh and aged to perfection (is aged the right word?), the sushi was my favorite of the three. A minor but key detail that I appreciated is that the shrimp tempura roll had most of the tail taken off so you're not trying to decide between picking the whole thing apart and eating a shrimp shell. I ordered online and picked up in store. The restaurant is clean and bright, and you can see the sushi bar as you eat.

Top Hibachi spot in the city! Welcoming employees and generous portions for the price.

Really solid pan-asian food for a great price. The menu is huge, and has something for everyone I first came for lunch and was dying for a thai curry. Got the green one with tofu, tasted great, spice level was good (although next time I'll ask for more), everything was cooked well. Came back another time for sushi and was really pleased. They have a huge veggie sushi menu which is hard to find. A lot of the classics, but some cool specialty rolls as well. I really like the Mr. Inari. They both tasted great. Will definitely come back The inside is a bit small with some little metal tables. I'm sure their main thing is take-out anyways, but it was nice to sit down if you want to take a break somewhere and dine.

This place feels like what sushi used to be! You can't get good sushi in Crown Heights, and if you do, it's super overpriced and subpar. I ordered Doordash and got the lunch special of spicy salmon crunch, spicy tuna crunch, and shrimp tempura rolls and soup. I also ordered 3 minutes before the cut off, so super happy they still honored it! The rolls were SO fresh and tasted so good. The spicy sushi was actually spicy, which was nice. The tempura was warm and actually still crunchy also! Usually you get soggy tempura when you order take-out. The Thai iced tea I ordered tasted like milk; but the food was so good that I'm not even bothered!

My husband had the kaishin don, I had the Ozakaya donburi set and our girls shared the shoyu tonkatsu ramen. The fish was so incredibly fresh here and the rice was seasoned perfectly. My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. I would definitely come back here the next time I visit Brooklyn as there were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try!

This place is super popular and I get why. It was packed but the service was insanely quick and efficient, which I appreciated. We shared the chirashi (9/10) and a spicy tuna roll (7/10) and it was honestly more than enough food for both of us. The sashimi is chef's choice so you're getting whatever's freshest that day. Overall, the quality was excellent. A couple of pieces were a little on the flavorless side, but nothing that ruined the experience. I'd still give it a solid 9/10 and would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Got brunch here on a Sunday with a friend. We split the Hot Honey Gem Salad and Hottokeki (Japanese…read moresoufflé pancake). The pancake is gigantic and is absolutely meant to be shared. It was really fluffy and smelled soooo good (reminiscent of the HK street cart waffles). But because it's so big, by the time we ate half of it, we were getting a little tired of the same taste. The salad was good but nothing to rave about. For drinks, we tried the Lebowski-San and Kettl Hojicha Kombucha. It was my first time trying a clarified cocktail and it was really unique. I thought there would be more ice cream honestly but I still loved it. The kombucha though was shockingly tasty. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle online once I got home (they're from Kettl, a local distillery in Brooklyn). The venue is really spacious and I actually planned a wedding here in the past. They host a lot of events and there was even a birthday party happening when I ate there. The only downside is the location. The only train that goes there is the G so it's a bit hard to get to. Food: Hot Honey Gem Salad (radish, buckwheat, fennel, yuzu vinaigrette) 9/10 Hottokeki / Japanese Soufflé Pancake (fluffy hotcake, honey maple butter, sesame) 9/10 Add Mini White Sesame Soft Serve (soy milk, sesame oil) 10/10 - I would recommend just getting this on its own instead of the Hottokeki if you're craving just a little dessert. Drinks: Lebowski-San (green tea shochu, pisco, sakura leaf, clarified matcha ice cream, cold brew coffee floater) 9/10 - This is a clarified cocktail which I didn't expect. I thought I was ordering a matcha ice cream-like drink so although the drink was good, all the ingredients are very subtle in flavor. Kettl x Unified Ferments 'Hojicha' Kombucha (jou yanagi hojicha) 10/10 - This is an absolute must-try!

Last I was here was for brunch and we sat in the outdoor patio area. We got a two things to share and a main each. Shared plates were the soufflé pancake and silken tofu. Both were a miss for me. The pancake had a baking soda aftertaste and also they brought it out right away instead of after we finished our mains so it sat around in the table for a while until we were ready to eat it. Silken tofu had a mediocre flavor palette. There was no variation in texture either, just one plate of mushy items. We didn't finish either one of those. For a main, I ordered a a Wagyu beef bowl. It was really good but on the smaller side. The service was attentive aside from a spillage when the order came. Then they started placing plates on top of the spill instead of wiping the table. Eventually they cleaned it but overall there was lack of training in this case. I am not dying to come back here but would consider if I'm in the area again. I really like the actual space but food/service can improve.

Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.
