I've never been to the place to sit down and eat but I've recently ordered a few party trays from here. The party tray price is essentially x5 of the original dish and the size is decent and can feed a lot of people! I ordered the chicken and broccoli plus the veggie pan fried noodles which were delicious. My coworker suggested 2 of the pickle fish dish and they were kind enough to give us 3 large white rice. They even asked if we had enough and if not they'll give us more. I even asked if this would be enough to feed up to 15 people and instead of telling me to order more, they said it should be enough. I love their honesty! Taste wise, it was full of flavor. They gave us a lot of veggies for the fried noodles which dish and the fish is delicious! Many people loved it the most. Authentic Szechuan in Park Slope was pretty good the other night. After reading several reviews, I went and checked out the menu. There are almost too many choices, so I focused on the menu items with photos and the "House Specialities" and "Chef's Special" menu items. I've read that the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken is one of the best items and it's listed as one of the restaurant's "Best Sellers" for delivery orders. The Chong Qing Spicy Chicken description says it's deep fried and sautéed. The menu also offers bamboo steamed items and a vegetarian section. Lots of choices. I finally chose number 53 "The Dragon and Phoenix." The shrimp were large and the white chicken meat was tender. It comes in a chefs special sauce, an orange brown sauce that goes very well with the dish. A Szechuan restaurant is either a make-or-break for me, depending on the mouth-watering chicken, which is cold chicken in chili oil. This spot might have my favorite mouth-watering chicken yet. There is a healthy amount of chilli oil and peanuts and HUGE cuts of chicken (dark meat). Some places give you a bony cut of chicken, but this had no bones, which I loved, making eating it much easier. In addition to that, I had their lunch special, which is only $12, and it comes with a meal, you get to choose a type of rice (up charges for special ones) and it comes with a soda. I got the pepper steak which was cooked well. I think it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I also got the hunan chicken which was also well cooked. I will say, I did not like the mushrooms in it. I got take out and there were hits and misses. The Mapo Tofu was pretty good, the medium spicy had a good kick without being overwhelming, and the brown rice was well cooked. I'd get the Mapo Tofu again. The delivery came quickly and hot. The wonton soup was kind of flavorless by comparison to others. I know it's not known for being packed with flavor, but it had almost none. The scallion pancakes were WAY too crispy, maybe just under burned. Authentic Szechuan has become our go-to takeout spot in Brooklyn -- the food is dependably great, super fresh and prepared to order, with generous portions, and never greasy and or gloppy when it comes to sauces. The Szechuan hot pepper shrimp w adjustable spiciness level is a perpetual favorite with lots of really big, juicy shrimp and very light breading. The stir-fried rice noodles are another -- I usually add pork, shrimp and beef and it's quite substantial and delicious. The beef and broccoli is a standby with lots of crispy veg in it that's not drowned in sauce. Soups are always great, flavorful but not too salty. Have ordered from here a few times now and while it's a tad on the pricey side the food is really, really good! Of all the things I've gotten the best has been the wontons in chili oil. There was a lot going on in the sauce not just spice and garlic, which is always delish but nice to have more! Also big fan of the double cooked pork and their soups! The shrimp with broccoli had really plump shrimps and the broccoli was crispy, not oily at all. The only thing that I've had from there that wasn't good was their fried dumplings. Tasted straight up like frozen Trader Joe's Gyoza. So just get those spicy wontons instead! read more

Warning: this is not a review about Americanized Chinese food or your Panda Express like Chinese takeout. Born and raised in China, I always worry about not having authentic Chinese food around after I moved to United States. I lived on UWS for three years before moving to Park Slope in 2015. Luckily there's one Chinese restaurant in the hood that serves some authentic Chinese spicy food. Believe me, I tried almost everything in the hood before settling down with Authentic Szechuan. Early on during COVID-19 lockdown, they closed for a couple of months. I was heartbroken worrying this gem would be closed like many other businesses. Fortunately they came back! Food is always consistent, delivery is always fast, and they use their own delivery person(tip more please)! I urge you to try things under House Special if you don't know much about authentic Chinese cuisine. You will get more delicious food there. It's definitely some of the best Szechuan takeout in Brooklyn I can't speak to the restaurant itself since we've only ordered delivery, but we've always received the correct order within a reasonable amount of time ~45min. We order the Szechuan Fish in clear, which is our fav - the red has a LOT of chilis and can be a little overwhelming to eat. The chongqing fried chicken from here is AMAZING. My friends and I ordered a veritable feast from Authentic Szechuan, which included all the Sichuanese staples. The menu is not at all exclusively Szechuan food, with plenty of American Chinese takeout dishes like sesame chicken and pork fried rice to go around. I even noticed chicken nuggets on the menu, which somehow feels out of place but also very fitting at the same time. I believe there's sushi on the menu too, so they're really trying to do everything. I suppose this should've been a red flag, but some people really swear by the food at this place. We stuck to dishes like mapo tofu, wontons in chili oil, stir fried string beans, and eggplant in garlic sauce. Most of these dishes are extra saucy and go really well with white rice, which came in abundance with our large order. Though I scarfed down my late night order with fervor, I noticed the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mushy, though the sauce was flavorful enough to mask the unpleasantness of this. Flavored mush, tastes pretty good with rice! The dish that gave me the most pause was the Hunan shrimp because the shrimp itself was also mushy. There are few things more unpleasant than biting into a mushy piece of shrimp, indicating that it was not cleaned properly or that it's really not fresh. I had to stop eating the rest of my meal at that point. The prices are low, and it sounds like people really enjoy a number of different dishes. But I'd definitely stay away from ordering sushi or any seafood from them. If you want some late night cheap eats, this is your place, just have the right expectations going in. read more

Fast delivery from seamless, and they have authentic Chinese and Cantonese dishes. But do they taste authentic?? ...no. A little too unseasoned, a little too greasy. BUT! They have dishes here that you would have to travel to Chinatown for. I haven't come across anywhere in Forte Green that serves water spinach/ong choy. Rather unseasoned, though. Stir fried eggplant was much too greasy, and also undercooked. It also had a sour taste to it. Salt and pepper shrimp were good! Butterflied well, with good flavors. It pains me to write this, but this place has seriously gone downhill. I used to love eating here, but that has changed. What used to be my favorite place, I now no longer go to, for the following reasons: - On several separate occasions, the imitation chicken that they use for the vegetarian general tso's has tasted sourly as if it has gone bad. I've had to send it back each time. - On one occasion, there was a large house fly in my sauteed bok choy. - On top of all of that, the dishes are always oily now. They need to fix their dishwasher. Take a look at the dishes and you will see an oily film over all of them. The thought of it turns my stomach. I so badly wish that this place would return to its former glory. I insisted that I wouldn't come down because I wanted a contact free delivery and he could just put the bag on my unit doorknob. The restaurant then called me and told me my apartment building was too "dangerous" and that's why he didn't want to get out of his car. I live in a primarily family building 1.5 blocks from Prospect Park. There have been ZERO reports of violent crime on my block in the 2 years I've lived here. Food was over 20 minutes late. My wife and kids were ravenous. The one saving grace was that they all love soup dumplings and I had ordered the Juicy Pork Buns. My wife took one bite, spat it out and started gagging. "Its raw", she said. I couldn't believe it, but then I cut into each of the 6 dumplings and they were all completely uncooked raw pork inside. I was horrified. I called the restaurant and they refunded me $9 with barely an apology. I'm not sure what I expected, but I expected more than that. I haven't been back yet and its been a hot minute. Originally came during Authentic Szechuan's "GRAND OPENING!" which may have continued on for perhaps a month at least. This was close to a year ago. They aren't brand new anymore. But they had advertised half off all of their sushi. How can you resist that offer?! First, I will get the gritty out of the way: They had almost none of their alcohol in stock as advertised in their menu. I understand they were brand new but when I inquired about sake they said they still had none. Second, there was no one in the restaurant when I went in and the service was a bit slow. The good qualities are mostly in their food. But then, their sushi isn't the freshest. It's hard for me to make a legit complaint though when I ordered like a tuna and eel roll for $2-3 each. The best part of their food were their steamed soup dumplings and their scallion pancakes. THOSE WERE SO ON POINT that I'm thinking about them now and wondering why I have not been back. Regardless, if you want some really cheap but still good americanized asian food, this is a good spot. I'm sure they have worked out the kinks since I have gone and now have a fully stocked bar. I like Chinese food, szechuan food in particular, and have ordered from this place for years. The food has generally been quite good. Dishes like long hot pepper beef, mapo tofu, hot and sour soup, Chong Qing Spicy Chicken, sautéed spinach, and spare ribs have generally been good to excellent. But in the last few months, the quality has declined sharply, even when eating in the restaurant. It seems that the main chef or chefs are no longer there. I tried asking someone there about, but they did not or could not say anything. Has anyone else had this experience lately? Really great Szechuan staples. This is our go-to for take-out Chinese. On the regular rotation is the double cooked pork, dry pot chicken, and the string beans with minced pork. Even Americanized dishes like General Tso's and beef and broccoli are done well. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Food is always hot and prepared quickly. Service is friendly and welcoming. Before judging this place, understand that no place does everything well and if you sell sushi, szechuan, Thai and American-Chinese, none of it will be that great. Here are my observations: 1. Eat in. The food quality is sub-standard upon delivery or take-out. It get ms overcooked and soggy. 2. Stick to Szechuan and Hunan specialties. This is not your corner frozen food "Chinese" shop. So their food was just aight but their CS was pretty darn good. I opted for the chicken fried rice. Simple right. Nah, and why not? Because there were too many onions in it. I like onions but it was all I could taste in the rice concoction. My friend ordered general tsao(sp)? which was better than the chicken fried rice and fresh tasting too.
