Great service and great food. I didn't get a chance to try their drinks, but I'll definitely be back. The soup dumplings were very good as were their free spicy cabbage dish, which I absolutely LOVE. The dan dan noodles were not as good, but I think that's just because I'm beginning to learn that dan dan noodles are not my kind of dish. This place is a certified sleeper! Very unassuming Chinese food spot. I loved the low mood lighting, play list was exceptional, and the service was attentive. The food is why we are all here and this place did not miss! We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation and it was a Sunday night. We were told the specials for the night with great detail, we snagged one of the last soup dumplings and they are incredible. The only other place I've had soup dumplings as good is in flushing - that's high praise from this queens girl. It was a little bland even though the color is so dark. We also got the snow pea tips and it's healthier than what I'm used to at Chinese restaurants. I'm always skeptical seeking out Sichuan food outside of one of NYC's three Chinatowns. Kings Co Imperial brings together the best of Sichuan cuisine with the atmosphere and beverage appeal expected from a Williamsburg restaurant. It's a long sprawling restaurant. Upon entry, it seems like a small spot with an oversized bar; however, upon making headway inside, you'll find hallway seating for couples, a side dining room, and a spacious backyard. Given the gorgeous weather, we opted for a table out back. I immediately placed an order for the Imperial Martini. Definitely on par with other gin martinis that I've had. They have an appealing selection of wines by the glass and a very impressive offering of cocktails. Certainly deserving of the cocktail bar subcategorization. We started with their signature soup dumplings. These revival any of the city's best soup dumplings such as Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao or Liu Liu Sheng Jian. Doughy dumpling. Subtle and chewy nipple. Ultra savory broth and filling. Plus a couple tasty sauces to pair with. A must order. Next we had the fried oyster mushroom. Truthfully, I didn't taste much of the mushroom. I got a lot of fried and seasoned batter with scallions and Sichuan peppers. Super savory and a bit spicy. An absolutely perfect bar food if you love all things fried. Following course were the pork ribs. Very reminiscent of the Chinese-American ribs you'll find at your local takeout spot with the defining difference being these are full ribs. They easily come off the bone yet are not mushy nor slip off indicating that they were properly smoked. This is a five star review, so I'll be a little critical: I believe these are reheated, so they were a bit overdone in my opinion. I believe they're lathered in the Kings Imperial sauce which is in the sweet side. Our final course was the dan dan mian noodles. An ultra savory and flavorful dish. Lots of savoriness coming from the peanut and pork. It quickly countered by the spiciness of the Sichuan peppers and chili oil. A sort of the mala effect coming though I don't think any cayenne peppers were hurt in the making of this dish. Lots of crunchy bits (I believe peanuts) countered by chewy noodles. A super homey and cozy dish. Service was helpful and informative. Pacing of the food was perfect. I found one restroom which was single occupancy and handicap accessible. All in all, one of the best dining experiences that we've had in NYC. read more

Kings Co is the place to go with a big group of friends who love to share. The indoor/outdoor seating is expansive and though it's so big, the service never disappoints. My group of seven shared about 15 plates and we left with no leftovers and feeling very satisfied so I'd recommend about 2 plates per person. We were seated in the back in one of the smaller rooms with 6 other tables but we felt like we were in a private room because of how the booths were set up. It's a great place for a chatty dinner between close friends and family and a nice place to hit up if all your regular places are full. Though I do not have a large knowledge base for authentic Chinese food, it was definitely more flavorful and unique than your typical American Chinese takeout. I've been a few times and each time it's really consistently great, the dumplings have a lot of meat in them and are super flavorful, the shrimp toast is buttery and delicious, the sesame noodles are really refreshing, but the star for me every time is the mushroom mock eel dish. Very glad we came as we were able to have a nice drink with the pitcher option which the mule was very smooth and we weren't able to really taste the vodka but still got our buzz on. I felt the noodles used in Dan Dan were kinda spaghetti like and not what I'm used to in Dan Dan noodles. The shrimp toast was good not too fishy, the dumpling chili oil made it taste better than the actual sauces provided. The xiao long bao soup was a little thicker than I like but still pretty good. Solid experience with excellent food, superb service, and great ambience. Not a single issue for our group and our server was exceptionally helpful and guided us towards some great selections and just the right amount of dishes. The staff as a whole were very professional and we had a very good visit from beginning to end. The food here is really great and considering location, is actually a good value for what you pay. The food is flavorful and most of the dishes pack a great punch in terms of taste from the very first bite. The General Tso's chicken was my favorite dish full of delight and unlike any other version of the dish I've tried anywhere: great texture, full of greens, not too greasy, and complemented perfectly with a side of white rice. The shrimp toast is dangerously good and I'd definitely make sure to order this dish as a starter on every visit. The soup dumplings were a solid order, as were the cold sesame noodles, which were a big hit with the table. The one dish that I don't think I'd order again was the crispy garlic chicken, which I was most excited to try but found a bit dry and lacking in flavor compared to the rest of our dishes. Overall, a really great dining experience, especially for a family style dining group outing. I loved the charm of the space, which was subtle and intimate. The staff were very accommodating and made the experience all that more pleasant. Strolled in early on a weeknight with a friend and we were seated right away. We were both surprised by how spacious it was and we were seated in the back. We ordered the bok choy pearls, the scallion pancake, and the spring moon shrimp to share. The scallion pancake was nicely crispy but we were blown away by the sauce. Need to constantly make this dipping sauce for everything. The cinnamon was a great touch. Unfortunately I didn't really like the bok choy pearls. There was 4 of them and I only ate one. This joint is deceptively small, but extends towards the back where there are more tables in a narrow back room and then a good sized covered outdoor space. I went during Chef Andre Fowles Jamaican pop up menu and omg everything we got was so good. He was there as well and he greeted every table and was very friendly. We started off with the ribs. They were really flavorful and the meat melted off the bone. We also ordered the lobster curry fried rice which was amazing. It came with a butter sauce on the side which was creamy and delicious. We also had the jerk chicken which was really really good and the coconut rum cake. All dishes were really really good. The drinks were good as well. We ordered the Rick steady. Firstly, I wish there was more of a friendly neighborhood feel (especially given how much we go in) but it always feels like a kinda icey reception when we stop by. The food is good but there's always a "soup dumpling special" we're told about at the start of the meal that, frankly, should just be on the menu subject to availability considering they always have them. The straw that broke the camel's back happened the other day when the main course came out before the egg roll dim sum -- like I'm talking 15/20min before and somehow everything (including those egg rolls) ended up on the check. It's refreshing to find authentic Chinese food outside of predominantly Chinese neighborhoods, even if it means I'll fork over a pretty penny for it. The first time I dined here I sat down with some amount of skepticism but I couldn't deny the flavors and have returned many times since. I've since learned that the owners and chefs come from a long tradition of cooking Chinese food and it definitely shows in the food. As is typical of Chinese food, dishes are meant to be shared family style, so I highly recommend scooping up some foodie friends to split a bunch of dishes with you. Bonus points if you're able to sit at one of the booth tables with a Lazy Susan for the full communal dining experience. You can start with their dim sum-- I love the shrimp toast and who doesn't love a little scallion pancake action. I'll usually pick out something from the vegetable section of the menu like the weeping tiger salad, one of the noodle dishes, and then something off the wok stir fried section. The mock eel is so popular they often sell out for good reason, crunchy, sweet bites of mushroom make for an addictive item to snack on between bites of the bigger entrees. What also differentiates Kings Co Imperial from restaurants in Chinatown is that they have a full bar with expertly made cocktails. Historically I haven't found myself pairing cocktails with Chinese food, but it wasn't from lack of wanting to, only lack of opportunity, and King Co Imperial makes that dream a reality. read more

The food was fabulous (though salty!) - we got shrimp toasts, pork soup dumplings, the pork ribs, cold sesame noodles, scallion pancakes, beans, and general Tso's. Much better experience dining in than ordering delivery! This was our first time visiting the restaurant, and don't be fooled by their small dining room at the front. They have multiple other dining rooms and were seated right away with our group of 6 all the way in the back at a large table. It's not authentic Chinese food, but it's definitely GOOD. You'll find some classics, along with more fusion/modern style dishes but flavor was on point for almost everything we tried. - white broiler chicken dumplings and wok seared long dumplings: SO juicy on the inside, and a nice crisp on the outside. I really liked both of them! - copper well street noodles: my least favorite, only because it's strong on the peppercorn and that's not really my jam. definitely has a kick to it - double garlic chinese eggplant: not the classic sweet/savory eggplant. I like when it's a little bit flash fried and the skin is blistered. but besides texture, yummy savory dish - short rib chow fun: my favorite dish! the bowl may look small, but it's a good dish to share with others. the short rib adds a very nice elevated touch to a classic chinese noodle dish. - salt and pepper pork chops: I think I'd rather eat this at a more traditional chinese restaurant.
