My daughter moving to Brooklyn has been wonderful! Haha! We immediately knew we picked a good spot because of the number of delivery drivers waiting outside the door! We went inside and only one table remained on a Sunday night! The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and very cozy. A great spot for a date night! A couple of things threw me off, before I get to the food. For one, they have no lemons. At all. They are very, very odd about giving you ice. And it's a Chinese restaurant that had no chop sticks. It's also a bit overwhelming to have delivery drivers constantly opening the cold door. Literally. Constantly. They put a curtain up but it doesn't help much when it's also open every ten seconds. Dress warm if you get cold! The service. It was decent. But the server wasn't friendly. She wasn't happy. She didn't smile. She was adequate. But not anyone I would hire. Ever. We ate family style. Starting with superb scallion pancakes! I highly recommend the regular ones. Just ask for some extra sauce. We had the fried pork dumplings which were my husband's favorite. They had so much flavor! The soup dumpling were also good. Just not as much flavor as the fried ones. If you like veggies, go for the garlic green beans! They were insane! Crispy, tons of garlic, and a delish sauce, served with rice. We had the handmade chicken lo mein. Usually I'm not a big fan. But this was good. I loved the noodles. Wei's Fort Greene is an exemplar of a "Hidden Gem" and a part of me wants to keep this delicious secret to myself but alas here I am with a 5 star review. You're welcome, in advance lol. Starting with the service, I felt taken care of throughout my entire visit. Even when i returned (days later) to do a takeout order, the host / server remembered me and helped to make sure my order was perfect. Inside is small but there's enough seating to fit 15-20 people comfortably. For drinks, I had an orange wine that was cool. Nothing remarkable, and certainly not bad, but the pour and price was great. The prize here is undeniably the food. I tried the following dishes and I would give each of them 5 stars: Vegetable Dumplings, Spicy Phoenix Wings (with and without sauce), Scallion Pancakes, and Vegetable Spring Rolls. I loved the food so much on my first visit that I plotted my return for the next week. I can't wait to try more dishes on the menu and I will definitely have this saved as a Brooklyn favorite going forward! read more

I was so excited to try this place but unfortunately the food didn't hit the mark for me. While the service was delightful and the ambiance, truly chic and cute - the food was under seasoned and left a lot to be desired. What we ordered: - scallion pancake roll with pork belly ( 4 out of 10 - the pork belly wasn't crispy and was mixed in this brown sauce with veggies that didn't work with the crispy pancake) - sesame chicken (3 out of 10 - the crispy chicken tasted stale almost like the chicken was left out before getting coated with the thick sauce) - salt and pepper chicken (8 out of 10 - this was the best dish by far. Seasoned well and topped with crispy shallots. This dish was the star but wish we would've gotten more chicken for the price) Overall, I love the interior design of this spot, the sweet waitress whose name I didn't get, and the oldies playlist playing soul and funk; but the food felt underwhelming. I ordered the lo main with hand-pulled noodles and spicy tofu. The noodles were excellent. Also the chicken was good quality, nice cuts of chicken that were not overly silken. It wasn't too greasy, a rarity among local Chinese restaurants. The spicy tofu was also very good. The tofu was fried correctly - crisp, not oily, with a tender inside. They use firm tofu, which I like much better. The sauce was flavorful but not "hot". Next time I will ask them to add a little more heat. I appreciate that Wei doesn't go crazy with saltiness, like some places I won't mention. I felt good after eating this food. This is my new go-to Chinese place. read more

I'd give this spot 10 stars. Not one thing disappointed us here . First off we were warmly greeted , the hostess continued this welcoming caring demeanor throughout out stay. We were offered the wine/beer list but opted for water since we were on out way to a beer tasting afterwards. I ordered the hot and sour soup of course ( my personal ultimate test). OH MY Goodness!!! I honestly questioned if I've ever had real hot and sour soup before this. I was blown away by the deep rich flavor. Don't laugh, but my eyes welled up with tears of joy, I'm often not that moved by food but boy oh boy, this was beyond amazing. I knew right about then I would only want Hot and Sour Soup from Wei's. I immediately called the hostess over to tell her how delicious this was, she was smiling but not too surprised she boasted that it's because they make everything fresh. You could tell it was the truth. The portion was enough for 2 and she noticed my hubby wasn't eating any and asked why. I said he's not a big fan. She urged him to try and served him some.His eyes lit up. He devoured a bowl right away and said he probably never liked previous ones because they never tasted great like this. After that every dish we had stayed on level . I think this is the most well seasoned grub we've had. Sesame, soy sauce, garlic, lemon grass onion, and every spice and herb - all very potent and flavorful. We had the fried chicken dumplings- even the dough by itself is seasoned . The Spicy Phoenix Chicken wing were fried to perfection and the fragrant spices shine through. I misread it as a hot spicy wing but I was wrong no heat but spicy and delicious still. We shared the Hand pulled Lo Mein with beef. The noodle was slightly chewy and great switch up from traditional lo mein noodles. The beef was tender and veggies fresh. I imagine this place is packed later in the day. I was glad we went early, it was unplanned but this area has a lot of food choices within walking distance. We simply didn't want to endure a long wait time so walked in as it was empty. The place was clean, and has a huge bathroom that I'm thinking can accommodate a wheelchair. The hostess said they have another location in Williamsburg. I'll be a regular at this one because it's closer to where I live. The food, service and ambiance were all on 10 star level perfecton. It's also located on the Clinton - Washington stop of the C train and the B25 bus right out front. Parking around here is a bit tough but public transportation is a winner for this location. Cute and small. I had this restaurant on my list for some time since it opened. I had some time and had a hankering for Chinese, so I parked across the street, paid the meter, and came in. I waited in the doorway to be seated while the server took a noisy family's order. I probably should've seen this as a sign to leave, but i stayed. The music was great, and the vibe was clean, Asian, "Urban hang suite." Very cute, yet minimalist. Eventually, i was seated with a glass of water and a menu. It was really cold outside and strangely enough. Cold inside the restaurant as well. After sitting a while, I only unbuttoned my coat because it was still too cold to take it off. Even after 15 minutes waiting, the restaurant itself was freezing, soooo strange. I looked at the menu, and a lot of the things that I saw online were no longer listed on the menu, so I selected shrimp fried rice. Simple, right? No. The shrimp were cut into pieces, and there were clumps of unseasoned rice, all through it. For the price, I was expecting more flavor, quality, and ingredients. I added some soy and chili oil, and it was edible. But coming across mystery crunchy bits was not my idea of a good time. Maybe I'll try the salt and pepper shrimp one day (it looked tasty), but it will definitely be warmer out. read more

I discovered this cute restaurant a couple of months ago and I literally became a twice-a-week regular customer. The ambience is lovely, the service is spot on and the food is delicious. Stuff is friendly and prices very reasonable. I highly recommend the scallion pancakes (I am addicted to it), the famous soup dumplings and the shredded beef with green chili peppers. Unfortunately I found that it fell kind of flat, so much so that I had a few bites of everything but decided not to bring it home because I didn't care for it. Here are my food notes I wrote as I was dining: - Pork Belly & Veggie scallion pancake roll: pork belly had an off putting smoked flavor, very saucy but muted, almost soggy, scallion pancake was nice tho - Spicy peanut pork wontons: very mild peanut flavor, lacking in seasoning, chili oil plopped on top but flavor not infused - Chicken Lo Mein: chicken lacking salt, tastes like a microwave meal - No tables at 7 but half full by 7:30 on a Friday I think because this is the only Chinese sit down restaurant in the area For me, it's a miss and I won't be back. First time trying this location! We absolutely adore the OG spot! My favorite is the peanut sauce they use for their dumplings it is next level! I always bother them bout taking some home! The food is terrific - if you know what to order. If you're looking for the usual greasy corner Chinese Sesame Chicken or General Tso's - go elsewhere - and don't order those dishes. Try the Salt & Pepper chicken, the Hai Pai Beef, Wei's Favorite or Wei's spicy... also, the dumplings are hand pulled lo Mein are ON POINT! I ordered takeout from Wei's on a sick day--hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, and pork soup dumplings. The order arrived in terrible condition, whoever packed the food put two soup containers into a plastic bag that was too small, causing them to topple over. The soup dumplings were also packed crooked. The hot and sour soup was completely destroyed so I didn't get to try it. The dumplings were broken, all the broth was gone, and the dipping sauce was also destroyed in the bag. And the egg drop soup was bland ..... really disappointing. Very different than Wei Williamsburg location, in terms of food quality. I ordered the General Tso tofu, and the chicken dumplings. The tofu was rock hard, extremely over cooked small bites of tofu, pretty much inedible or you may break a tooth. The chicken dumplings are bland, and I'm surprised as they are my favorite dumplings at the Wei Williamsburg location. Very disappointed in the meal here. read more
