I've been coming here for a long time, sometimes consecutively for months so I feel like an expert Numero Uno-ian. HahaJaja. Except, my GoTo is ONLY two or three items on the menu. Tehehe Before I talk about the food, I love the sense of community they embody. Sometimes I'll be having lunch and overhear conversations and it's so pleasant hearing staff genuinely enquire about customer's children, businesses, etc. Gives me all the great feels. The staff is very welcoming to me as well and often makes space for me when they're occupying the lone table (after all it's a takeout spot). I enjoy hearing them sing along with the music and I've added a few Asian hits to my playlist. Their food is good and consistent. I'm not much of an adventurer when it comes to my tummy so when I find a dish I like, I'll order it for months until my little palate begs me "no more". Each time I order it's fresh, and tasty just like it was the previous day. Prices are affordable and like most fast-food restaurants, they offer many daily specials. The absolute best thing about Number One Chinese Kitchen is you only need to spend $6 MINIMUM for delivery. So if you live or are staying in this area and don't want to spend an extensive amount of money or leave the comfort of your own home, ordering from this restauraunt wouldn't be the worse decision in the world. Also, they DO accept credit cards and you can state that you want to pay for it with your card when you call. So yes, say at little as possible and be prepared with your order. SERVICE/DELIVERY: Like many yelpers before me have mentioned, the staff aren't extremely fluent in English, but they are really kind and courteous. When the delivery man came to the door he handed me the food I ordered and didn't get upset with me when it slipped my mind to sign the receipt (since I paid with card). He kindly reminded and went along his way. So service and delivery for delivery purposes only is pretty good and don't forget to tip especially in the Fall/Winter seasons where rain is abundant and from what I could see they use bikes or mopeds or something other than a car to delivery you food, but don't worry your food is well-protected because my dishes weren't water-damaged! FOOD: All foods are made differently dependent on where you get them from. I firmly believe this, especially when it comes to different Asian cuisines. That being said, I've never had Chinese food like this before, which I don't mean in a bad way. It's definitely authentic, if that's what's most important to you. My friend and I both got combination platters. The combination platters come with an egg roll, pork fried rice, and an entree of your choosing. I tried the orange chicken and she got the chicken chow mein. The orange chicken was decent and filling. I have never orange chicken like it before because there were actually bits and pieces of real oranges throughout the dish. My friend's chow mein was a different story...it looked kind of slimy and weird, but to be honest the flavor was all there and they just used a different noodle than you normally might see at a different chinese restauraunt or one that is more Americanized like Panda Express. I think the noodles they used were rice noodles, but I can't confirm or deny this hypothesis because it was just really based on how it looked. All in all, I think that you can't really go wrong from ordering here and it's super convenient that you only need to pay up to $6 to get food delivered to your door. If I wasn't just visitng and lived in the area, I'd probably be a regular since sometimes my lazy struggle is absolutely real. It's a good hole in the wall american chinese takeout spot. I order often (probably more than I should tbh). Four stars because the food is well prepared and delivery is always quick. For the last year I've had the same delivery person so i know people that work there stick around which makes me believe they care about their employees. I'm a big fan of the General Tso platter with pork fried rice, wonton and sweet and sour soups, veg mai fun and the singapore noodles. They always give sauces and plastic cutlery even if you say not to in your order (my only complaint). Most all items come in plastic containers that are recyclable or reusable as food storage. Once i was sick and ordered from them multiple times in two weeks and they gave me some extra egg rolls, seems like a small thing but it means a lot when business owners and customers recognize each others humanity. Big love to all the staff at this place, I appreciate the meals you make and they are very much loved and appreciated in my home. I'll end this review with a friendly reminder to support small businesses and to not order take out when there is inclement weather (in general, not from this spot specifically) bc it puts the delivery people that ride bikes at risk. It's amazing this is the first Chinese takeout spot that I have been to that doesn't suck. I had given up on takeout spots outside of Sunset Park, Flushing or Chinatown in Manhattan because I have had too many gross experiences. From listless veggies to shrimp fried rices that were made with Adobo seasoning. Also many spots are greasy, the food tastes muddy, not very clean and chock full of MSG. So I was starving one night and gave this place a chance based on yelp reviews. I ordered my standard which is what I base all Chinese takeout on: fried chicken wings and fried rice. I figure if a Chinese takeout place cant do this right then they cant do anything right. So guess what? The chicken wings were crispy, juicy, and tasty; the rice was unremarkable but ok. I ate my fill and I didn't have a stomach ache or get an MSG headache. Then I repeated this order several weeks later and the food was still tasty. Not bad for $ 6 for 4 chicken wings and rice. This restaurant is exactly what you think it is: straightforward Americanized Chinese food stock full of msg and it's straight up delicious. I have been getting take out and delivery from here for two years. Prices are fair. People are nice. My go to is pork fried rice and General cho/tso, but ribs, fried chicken (mambo sauce + fries), dumplings (thick noodle but sometimes v. good), and chow fun are also pretty good. They're accommodating (sometimes get black bean sauce on the noodles). Sometimes the staff have very delicious looking noodle bowl I haven't seen on the menu so maybe there's more authentic options hidden in the wings, but I would stick with your go to bullet proof glass Chinese take out orders. read more

Ok, so based on the reviews of Nai S. and J.G. my fiancee ordered the General Tso chicken and I ordered the General Tso Shrimp...both were very good. Everything was hot and fresh and the price wasnt bad...they did charge and extra 50cent per plate because we both wanted extra egg and sprouts in our rice. I ordered from grub hub the chicken and broccoli and normally the chicken from any Chinese restaurant is light in color with light sauce. However last time I went I had a pretty bad experience .The guy who took my order barely seemed to understand it. Not sure if it was a langue issue or if he was really rushed. Who knew? I used to live right around the corner from Number One and apparently, I was spoiled! For a neighborhood takeout spot, their food is pretty darn good. I miss their brown rice with chicken, broccoli and garlic sauce but most of all I miss their vegetable fried rice.
