I've lived half a block from this joint for the past 17 years. It's definitely a no frills, take out spot, but I think some of the unfavorable reviews, especially regarding Price, I really unfair. I'm giving them a five star review because I think they deserve better than what some of these people have said. Rent is no longer cheap in Brooklyn. The Tofu is great here, they know what they're doing, whether it be tofu with broccoli in garlic sauce or the delicious General Tso's tofu. Definitely dependable on delivery or pick up, so call in advance or order delivery if you're in the area. read more

I live very close to New Peking so this is my go-to Chinese food restaurant. The food here is good, but nothing special as far as Chinese Food goes. I usually order the Sesame Chicken combo which comes with fried rice and an egg roll. It costs ~$9 and I can usually stretch it for 2 meals. Went here on the night of 4th of July to get a quick meal. The lady who took our orders was very nice. Before this I haven't eaten Sesame chicken in a while, but I decided to chance it. This was literally the best Sesame chicken meal I've had. I was even able to warm it up the next day and it still tasted bomb. I will definitely go back here. for the neighborhood i can't expect much. I keep it simple w/brown rice and chicken or broccoli or tofu. The hood gets everything fried there, and for me getting anything out of their fryers is a bit scary. They have a B on the outside which I'm definitely not surprised. Was feeling a tad under the weather -- so thought it would be a good idea to get some chicken soup with noodles. I mean how can you screw up Chicken soup, right? Guess what. I ordered it without MSG and what appeared was a pint of yellow swill with as much flavor as dish water, some lonely chicken bits, and large bland noodles reminiscent of what a sea cucumber emanates when threatened. NO BUENO. My motto is: If a Chinese take out cannot produce a decent order of chicken soup --I will certainly not trust them with anything more complicated! It's decent Chinese for the area. I've been ordering take out from New Peking for about a year and have found they're super fast and generally consistent. Usually when we order it's the same thing: pork fried rice which is good, wings, General Tso's chicken and chicken lo mein. One time we ordered shrimp and broccoli and were disappointed to find the order was mainly broccoli with little shrimp, other than that the food is decent and is our go to in the neighborhood. read more

They're so good! I can't believe it. Probably the best Chinese food restaurant in the neighborhood. However, I have to deduct a star. It causes me much pain to do so, but I must. The reason why is because the fries were terrible. I expected nice crispy golden fries, but no. It was the complete opposite. So if you come here, order anything off of the menu EXCEPT the fries! You'll love it. They have great specials too. Lovely lunch special at a great price. Good food. They are racist. Yes, I said it. And I will never forget this particular incident, being an African American. My girlfriend and I used to like going there alot a few years back. But I've made up my mind to officially stop supporting them, and after reading this review, I hope you all will as well. One time, we decided to stay in there and eat while they prepare our food. As we were eating and talking quietly about stuff, we heard them making loud monkey noises behind the counter. I'm not joking. They did it because they thought they could get away with it since we were the only ones in the restaurant. For all African Americans out there, please let this be an eye opener for who's hands you're actually putting your money into. Now, here's the thing: Not all of them at New Peking are like that. Some are more friendly than others, but some of the workers there give you dirty looks like you're scum. When making deliveries, some want to refuse coming up to your apartment building floor, and curse in Chinese when you tell them to come up, because that's THEIR JOB.
