I had a strange moment for the first time where after ordering vegetable delight which was a container filled halfway with white rice that wasn't mentioned on the order, a chicken lo mein, and shrimp dumplings where I wasn't sure if any of the protein I was eating was real. I am not convinced their chicken wasn't soy or tempeh drenched in a cornstarch slurry to imitate chicken. And the shrimp didn't have the texture of any shrimp I ever had. The quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up. I recently purchased 15 jumbo fried shrimp (Three orders) for $25 plus. In the order I received what can be described as baseball sized butterfly "so called) shrimp. I sampled one, 80 percent was horrible breading. Ths actual shrimp was the size of a half dollar coin. *COVID takeout* I stopped by after two long train rides to pick up a Veggie Delight&Fried Rice combo plate with a bottle of sparkling water. Golden Chopstick has a plastic and metal partition between the register/kitchen and the customer area. All the tables are stacked, so it's delivery and takeout only, but you can order there at the register. On the plus side, the Veggie Delight (mixed vegetables in brown sauce) was--as other reviewers have mentioned--extremely savory without being too oily. The variety of vegetables was nice: snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, baby corn, soft tofu, water chestnuts, celery, and broccoli. I only wish the ratio of vegetables to fried rice could have been more equal. There was much more rice. The fried rice was on the blander and oilier side, so maybe I should have gone all the way and ordered noodles. I'll try that next time! Service was kind and thorough. I especially appreciated that they asked what sauces I wanted (just mustard please!), rather than giving packets of duck and soy sauce that are going to sit in my fridge for the next 100 years. read more

Well, the honorable Wong still wears that crown, but it now shares it with Golden Chopstick. Every dish here is an exquisite combination of flavor and grease. I especially recommend the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and the Pananian style fried rice. I wasn't sure what Pananian style meant when I ordered it, but I took the risk, and boy golly am I glad I did. Most of the Chinese takeout places in this part of Brooklyn look the same: a large window facing the street, greenish neon light in the inside, a couple of formica tables. The same identical pictures of typical Chinese food dishes on light boxes that you see everywhere. A bulletproof screen and a metal door that separate the "dining" area from the kitchen. Even the menus look the same. Most of the times the food is mediocre, with some noticeable exception in one way[1] or another. Golden Chopstick is an exception in the worst possible way. I like Chinese food and I eat Chinese takeout regularly. I don't know this neighborhood that well, and what attracted me to this place was the cute name. Moreover, on the menu I read they have "Pananian" dishes. I have no clue what Pananian mean[2], but having something unusual on the menu usually scores points for me. I decide to play it safe and I get an orange chicken ($5 for a "small" plate). It was just inedible: the chicken was tough and chewy, without any discernible taste, if not a lingering foul aftertaste that bothered me the rest of the night. This is the best quality takeout Chinese I've had in the city. I ordered online during the snowstorm, and they called me right away to tell me they would be a bit late (automatic cool points), but they weren't even late. I got the General Tso's chicken platter and scallops. Everything came hot and fresh, but the true test would be taste. They passed with flying colors. The food is delicious; not too greasy, not too saucy. The chicken is crispy but not rock hard, and there's more than 2 pieces of broccoli! Just delicious. I will definitely order from here again. I notice a pattern with the delivery people. When I put the tip in with the order before it gets delivered the delivery person shows up disrespectful. Going forward, when I order food via Grubhub or any of the food apps tips will not be given with the order. It will be given at the door when they bring it to me. If I detect any attitude the will leave without a tip. Period. I also don't like hair in my food. read more

First a clarification about the rating... For all of New York, this is a 3 star location. But for east Crown Heights, it's a 4 due to the fact that the order was fast, they delivered to the door, and the food was warm upon arrive. Didn't mess the order up either, and it's on Seamless. They have a panamanian section on the menu, which was strange but interesting. And as far as it could be determined, panamanian lo mein is just like normal lo mein but with a fried egg on top. I did not know this was a thing in Panama, but sure, why not. The lo mein itself was of the kind of dry variety, which isn't a favorite of mine, but I know people like. The egg foo young had its typical brown gravy, but it was pretty pretty pretty pretty good. Played well with the brown rice. The General Tso sauce was way too sweet. And the black sauce with the string beans was decent. There are plenty more Chinese places in east Crown Heights, and a lot of them suck. It's amazing how one intersection changes everything. I was looking for some quick Chinese food I can have before a summer class I was taking at Medgar Evers College. I found one place that had the bulletproof counter and no tables or seats so I ventured down Franklin Ave across Eastern Parkway. Food is great. A little pricey for regular Chinese take out, but the taste is worth it. I gave three stars because I ordered for delivery through Seamless. I gave more than 15% for the tip, so I expected door to door service. Not only did I have to come downstairs for my order, but I had to come outside with my three kids to get the food. As he's handing me my food, the delivery guy lights a cigarette and blows smoke in our faces. I am LIVID, and called to complain. First whoever picked up the phone tried to say I had the wrong number, but I repeated the address and she said she would talk to him.
