Mikado is a great restaurant for good sushi. The service was amazing. The design inside is so cute and warm, a soft atmosphere. Both the Bento and the Premium were worth the price for the amount of food you get.

4 massive maki rolls for 20 dollars with a miso soup or salad?? Perhaps the best lunch special I've ever seen, sign me up! The quality and size of these rolls genuinely impressed me. This is absolutely my new favorite work lunch spot. I got the salmon, tuna, eel avocado, and yellowtail scallion rolls. Service was quick and attentive, would definitely recommend!

Great HH deal!! And all the cocktails were actually amazing!! You'd have to get the yellowtail rolls, they were the highlight of the food menu! Its is very pretty inside with the japanese/asian decor. The staffs are very attentive. During the Happy Hour I could see that they were dedicated to keep things moving! They seem to get busy at around 530pm, so get there early (or make a reservation if you can!) Would definitely come back again

Easily one of the best lunch sushi spots in the area. I had an appointment nearby and was starving and really craving sushi. I passed Mikado, saw it had great reviews, back tracked and sat at the bar to get myself some lunch sushi. The service was fast and friendly, ambiance is a little high end and honestly I felt like I was a little underdressed. I ordered the 8 piece sushi lunch special which came with a tuna scallion roll and miso soup. The miso soup was hot and fresh, the sushi selection basically tasted like omakase sushi to me, it was delicious and fresh. The rice to fish ratio on the roll was just right. I was so full by the end of this meal, all for $22? Incredible. I would definitely come here again especially for lunch if I'm ever back in the area.

4 roll lunch deal - shrimp tempura, eel avocado, yellowtail jalapeno and spicy crab

I had this saved for awhile on my Google Maps after seeing some videos advertising their awesome happy hour deals. My friends and I decided to come here for lunch actually, since we had another activity close by. They offer a lunch special from 11am-3:30pm EVERY DAY, which is absolutely amazing for our Sunday lunch. Usually lunch specials like this are only available on weekdays. I made a reservation on Resy just to make sure we could get seated right away. There were still plenty of tables so it wasn't super needed, but it provided peace of mind. The space was very nice with the decor, and plenty of seats. On the way to the bathroom, I saw they have a back space, which seems to be a private space, so good for hosting some private dinners and parties. The fish was very fresh and delicious. Not skimpy at all. We left full and am excited to come back again. We got the unagi bowl, the salmon ikura bowl, the kaisen bowl, and 4 assorted rolls for $20 - yellowtail jalapeno, spicy crab, eel avocado, and shrimp tempura (only complaint is the spicy crab didn't really feel spicy lol)

I haven't had sushi in quite some time and I was craving some one afternoon. I did a search for sushi happy hour spots and this one came up. Their rating was pretty high and I noticed as I walked up to the restaurant that delivery guys were pouring in and out of there. I took that as a good sign. What drew me in is they have happy hour on food and drinks every day from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. You can't beat specialty cocktails for $7, beers for $3, wines/sake for $5, sushi rolls for $6, and appetizers ranging from $1 to $5. Truly a deal! I had one lychee cocktail and it was delicious and refreshing, not overpowering. I ordered two sushi rolls, and although they were fresh and delicious, I was quite disappointed that you only get four pieces for $6. The edamame ($1) was tasty. The standout of the night were the sushi tacos (3 for $5). They're tiny but so damn addictive. So much that I ordered another. I would go back just for those. Also, the service is quite fast!

    Crunchy Salmon Roll (Happy Hour)

Came as a party of 2 on a Sat evening @6pm as walk in + was able to be seated right away despite the restaurant being decently packed. Happy Hour ran until 7 pm, so I was able to order a hand cut roll off the menu - FYI their hand cut rolls are 4 pieces. What we got: - Crispy Rice Starter: Topped w a good amt of fish. Def a 1-2 bite per piece starter! - Crunchy Salmon Hand Roll: Rolled tightly and the fish-to-rice ratio was perfect! - 4 Set Roll: Opted for the cut roll, but also had the option of a hand roll (taco shaped) - Salmon Ikura Don: Standard, but plentiful! The interior is pretty spacious + has a comfortable back room with extra seating. Staff is extremely attentive - although it's prob bc they wanna keep turning around tables quick. Portions are decent! Would come back.

Food/drinks: yum! Surprised by how much I liked the karaage chicken! They use dark meat and it's not like popcorn chicken! Happy hour is a really good deal would recommend!! Atmosphere: HUGE with so much seating and well decorated! Could be a place for a celebration or nice dinner Service: good service! Price: $ cheap for happy hour! They don't skimp out on the fish to rice ratio

great price for manhattan! my friend and i went during lunch and both got the 3 rolls for $17 special. the rolls were good and had a good proportion! the cucumber salad was different than i was expecting but it was still so yummy. i saw they had a happy hour so i would definitely go back to try the drinks out!

Happy hour Sushi Taco, Edamame (Served Cold ), Cucumbers Salad
    Justine W.

Nice place to go for happy hour that ends at 6:30pm. The cucumber salad, edamame, sushi tacos were delicious. Each sushi roll comes with 4 huge pieces, very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend getting all the appetizers to try especially the sushi taco. Service was quick and although it was very busy, waiter was attentive. The interior was really nice with lots of seatings.

This review is regarding the "bento box" to go. I thought it was a good value. Enjoyed the tuna ball, salad and edamame. Sweet potato tempura roll was large with a tasty sauce but not the best I've ever had. Teriyaki chicken was served lightly fried and with veggies and sauce on the side (not enough IMO) -- overall meh. However everyone else liked their sushi and they have good deals if you order delivery during happy hour timing.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.
