The food here is exceptional and the handrolls are the star of the show. The fish in all the dishes I had not only melted in my mouth but the different sauces and garnishes on each one added intriguing depth to each bite. They serve the handrolls with the nori still wrapped in plastic such that there is a 0% chance the nori will lose any of that addicting first-bite crunch you get when diving in. My favorite handroll was the A5 wagyu one, not because I think I'm supposed to like everything wagyu but rather that the beef itself melted in my mouth and very few sushi places I've been to offering wagyu handrolls or nigiri actually accomplish that. All of the final three handrolls in the signature handroll set in particular were aburi and the charred taste on each of them brought things to a whole other dimension. The service was kind, friendly, humorous at times, and super fast. They were maybe too fast such that I felt a bit rushed, but it's probably because we came in at 3:15pm, just before lunch final call, so that is to be expected I suppose. I do wish they had more beer options and a couple of cocktail options, but other than that this place is nearly perfect. I'd like to come back to try the rest of their menu. read more

We had a reservation here for a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We arrived around our reserved time and was greeted by the person at the front desk whom also took our jackets which is a nice gesture. We were seated at the bar to get the full experience of the omaskase as that's what we were going to order that night. It was fairly busy that night and fairly small inside. The tables sit behind the sushi bar and are fairly close to it. We did the Sushiro Omakase which comes with a few appetizers to start with, some nigiri, a few handrolls, and dessert to finish it off. They also have a drink (alcohol and non-alcohol selection) to choose from. The fish quality for the most part was very good. My favorites were the chu toro, wagyu, and uni. The cod was pretty exceptional as well. As each piece came out the chef explained which each nigiri or handroll was made out of it or the type of fish. At times it was pretty hard to hear him since the chef was more soft spoken. There is another waiter that checks in on you and offers refills. We were pretty lucky that the chef gave us another handroll on the house. You can also order a la carte one your are done with the Omakase. Overall a great handroll and omakase. You can sit down and really take your time to enjoy the fish or be in and out. It's not an establishment that forces either. We never felt that rushed to leave once we were done. Not too sure how to feel about Sushiro so let me describe the crime scene: - Willing to let you be seated with a reservation even if everyone hasn't arrived so appreciate that part - Tables are quite tight so throughout our meal, we caught glimpses of peoples' conversations next to us, which we preferred not to hear - 80% through eating, maybe they noticed we were eating slow, they let us know that there is a time limit for reservations and that we only had X minutes left. To make matters worse, they passively left the bill on our table, to which we had to decide whether our remaining hand rolls should be for takeout or to eat for here. I think there could've been a more seamless way to bring up the time limit by notifying us ahead of time when all parties were seated at the table. - Handrolls aren't that unique, so if that's what you care about over cost then you're better off ordering a la carte. The sets themselves are quite filling as we ordered 2x Premium sets with add on handrolls such as Sablefish, Uni The Toro / Sablefish handrolls were my favorite but other than that, not much stood out besides the bad service....There's a plethora of handroll spots in the city, so would not pigeon hole myself here. read more

The chefs behind the counter were very gracious and patient... I would definitely recommend this place for newbies as well. The Noms: we all had the sake flight.... Which I enjoyed immensely. For our main meal, we did the à la cart menu so that we could pick and choose each piece. My favorites are: the snow crab, the Wagyu, the sable fish and in the end, the chef created us a piece with Otoro that was off the menu and it was delicious. I had never had uni before... and it's not quite to my taste... but other than that, I really enjoyed every piece that I ordered. We enjoyed the Chefs Special Handroll combo for lunch today. The seven rolls were all very fresh and delicious, and the mochi ice cream desert was a lovely palate cleanser to finish us off. I've eaten at KazuNori a few times. Today's Sushiro experience seemed more gourmet and interesting. That said, my bill was $120 per person (including 20% gratuity), which is much more than I would pay for the premium combo at Kazu. I suspect the less expensive options here at Sushiro would be equal to or better than Kazu, but can only rate what we ate. Service was excellent. 11/10 my favorite handroll spot in the city. I love that the seaweed comes wrapped in plastic so you can take your time and you don't have to scarf it down right away while it's fresh. I'm so glad I finally got to try this handroll place - it was absolutely delicious!! Both my friend and I ordered the premium set, which also came with an appetizer - I got the miso soup and she got the seaweed salad. I loved every single one of the handrolls - it was really hard to choose a favorite. You get so much fish in each one, the flavors go so well with each other, and a lot of care goes into making sure the seaweed remains crispy so you're able to experience a variety of textures in each bite! I was actually eyeing the bar seating because the decor with some of the "floating" plants looked really unique. Both sets on the menu are a little bit pricy (especially compared to Nami Nori), but I do think the rolls are a bit bigger and the ingredients are of higher quality. I think sometimes service can also go above and beyond if you're lucky - I had another friend who visited this restaurant with her boyfriend to celebrate a birthday and they were even presented with a free roll :) I don't see myself coming back regularly but if I ever wanted to treat myself on a special occasion, this spot would definitely be at the top of my list, especially if I was craving handrolls! read more

They give really huge chunks of sashimi on the hand roll, and it's worth every buck. we found some of them packed with flavor (wasabi) and some a little more bland though, which is why I knocked a star. The filling is literally sitting on plastic. When removing it, you stand an excellent chance of the filling falling out of the roll. We each got the classic set with 5 hand rolls and comes with an appetizer which you can choose between miso soup, seaweed tofu salad, or edamame. I never leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. We called to change our reservation from 8:30pm to 6:45pm and the change was confirmed by Ana. The next day, when my Resy still showed 8:30pm, I called again and was reassured that we were confirmed for 6:45pm. We took a 30 minute Uber to arrive on time, only to be told by the hostess that our reservation was still listed for 8:30pm. The manager apologized and said they had mistakenly changed another reservation with the same name, which seemed unlikely given how unique my name is. Even though they acknowledged it was their mistake, the only option offered was to come back at 8:30pm. I am currently disabled, so waiting around nearly an hour due to their error was not manageable. As we were leaving and I mentioned writing a review, the manager grabbed my arm to continue the conversation, which felt inappropriate and uncomfortable.
