Had a lovely late lunch here! Walked in without a reservation as a party of 2 on a Saturday around 1:30pm and sat at the counter, which had a few more open seats as well. Got the premium set and loved it! The fish tasted fresh and good quality. My favorite was by far the toro scallion - same for my husband. We added the MP Hokkaido uni which was good but not my favorite of the bunch. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely return!

This is hand roll heaven. Not sure how else to describe it. We went with some of the flights and all of the hand rolls have unique flavors and textures. Can't wait to return to the city and try some of the other options we couldn't quite get to. On top of that, the staff were super friendly and it was fun watching them, put the hand rolls together while they worked in unison.
Overall, a good spot, but the sushi is definitely on the expensive side. The ambiance inside is nice, but the service can be slow and sometimes comes across as a little rude.
Huge fan of Sushi Tokoro. The handroll experience was amazing. It came with 5 handrolls and an appetizer, which was just the right amount of food. All of the handrolls were exceptional, but my personal favorite was the fatty tuna. Great ambiance on the inside, great service, and the quality of the food was amazing, all for a reasonable price. Can't recommend enough!
This place was great! The hand rolls were awesome and even more filling than I anticipated. The ingredients were fresh and had a lot of variety to them.
I had the best day w my sister in law. Matcha, froyo, hand rolls, and broadwayyyy. Best day ever so I have skewed memory of this meal but it was really good. 1. Spicy tuna: not the best I've had but pretty good 2. Kampachi: very good for yellowtail bc it's Normally not my fav. This was spicy umami tart in all the right ways 3. Snow crab: did not amaze me even though it's normally my fav. It just wasn't creamy the way I like. Min spend is 35 per person and they sat us immediately at the bar without a reservation! Slow service. I honestly prefer kazunori and sonmori in LA is still my #1
The food here is exceptional and the handrolls are the star of the show. The fish in all the dishes I had not only melted in my mouth but the different sauces and garnishes on each one added intriguing depth to each bite. They serve the handrolls with the nori still wrapped in plastic such that there is a 0% chance the nori will lose any of that addicting first-bite crunch you get when diving in. My favorite handroll was the A5 wagyu one, not because I think I'm supposed to like everything wagyu but rather that the beef itself melted in my mouth and very few sushi places I've been to offering wagyu handrolls or nigiri actually accomplish that. All of the final three handrolls in the signature handroll set in particular were aburi and the charred taste on each of them brought things to a whole other dimension. The service was kind, friendly, humorous at times, and super fast. They were maybe too fast such that I felt a bit rushed, but it's probably because we came in at 3:15pm, just before lunch final call, so that is to be expected I suppose. I do wish they had more beer options and a couple of cocktail options, but other than that this place is nearly perfect. I'd like to come back to try the rest of their menu.
Not too sure how to feel about Sushiro so let me describe the crime scene: - Willing to let you be seated with a reservation even if everyone hasn't arrived so appreciate that part - Tables are quite tight so throughout our meal, we caught glimpses of peoples' conversations next to us, which we preferred not to hear - 80% through eating, maybe they noticed we were eating slow, they let us know that there is a time limit for reservations and that we only had X minutes left. To make matters worse, they passively left the bill on our table, to which we had to decide whether our remaining hand rolls should be for takeout or to eat for here. I think there could've been a more seamless way to bring up the time limit by notifying us ahead of time when all parties were seated at the table. - Handrolls aren't that unique, so if that's what you care about over cost then you're better off ordering a la carte. The sets themselves are quite filling as we ordered 2x Premium sets with add on handrolls such as Sablefish, Uni The Toro / Sablefish handrolls were my favorite but other than that, not much stood out besides the bad service....There's a plethora of handroll spots in the city, so would not pigeon hole myself here.
I had a day off and decided to head to the West Village to try this handroll spot I have had my eye on and it was worth it!! The service was great and so was the atmosphere. The food was so fresh and delicious. I had the lunch special which included five hand rolls (tuna, kampachi, salmon, scallop, & shrimp) and an appetizer (I got hijiki). I will be returning sooner rather than later!!

The hand roll sets are my go-to: the second set especially, since it comes with about five premium pieces, and I can always add on more. Personally, I like this option even more than their omakase because I care more about hand rolls than nigiri. Every bite feels fresh, balanced, and flavorful. Honestly, the only downside is that I eat so much I leave feeling like a bowling ball rolling out the door. Service: 4/5 If you can snag a reservation, you're golden. Walk-ins are hit or miss, especially on weekends, but once you're seated, the service is excellent. Sitting at the bar is the best move--the staff makes you feel catered to and engaged. The only small issue I've noticed is that when the restaurant gets really busy, communication can slip a bit (we almost got a bottle instead of a glass once!). Just speak clearly, and you'll be fine. Ambiance: 5/5 Intimate and lively, with that bustling Manhattan energy but still refined enough for a sushi splurge. It feels special without being stiff. All in all, this is hands-down one of my favorite splurge-worthy hand roll spots in Manhattan. At around $250 for two with tip, it's not cheap, but for omakase lovers--or anyone who just wants to leave full and happy--it's well worth it!

The chefs behind the counter were very gracious and patient... I would definitely recommend this place for newbies as well. The Noms: we all had the sake flight.... Which I enjoyed immensely. For our main meal, we did the à la cart menu so that we could pick and choose each piece. My favorites are: the snow crab, the Wagyu, the sable fish and in the end, the chef created us a piece with Otoro that was off the menu and it was delicious. I had never had uni before... and it's not quite to my taste... but other than that, I really enjoyed every piece that I ordered. In Conclusion: I would recommend this place to anyone who is a newbie to Omakase, or a seasoned and discerning diner. The chef and owner put me at ease and gave a lot of really good recommendations. I would 10/10 come back here again.
We enjoyed the Chefs Special Handroll combo for lunch today. The seven rolls were all very fresh and delicious, and the mochi ice cream desert was a lovely palate cleanser to finish us off. I've eaten at KazuNori a few times. Today's Sushiro experience seemed more gourmet and interesting. That said, my bill was $120 per person (including 20% gratuity), which is much more than I would pay for the premium combo at Kazu. I suspect the less expensive options here at Sushiro would be equal to or better than Kazu, but can only rate what we ate. Service was excellent. We sat at the bar and were the only two customers at 1pm for lunch, when they open. I'd return.

I liked this place. I ordered the premium handroll set and also the California and scallop à la cart. Everything was fresh and delicious. If you've had handrolls with the plastic sleeve before, it's essentially the same concept. Pull the plastic slowly as not to disturb the rice and toppings. My favorite was the salmon and the crab. I would come back. The meal itself is actually pretty quick. You really need a reservation here unless you come odd hours or are here by yourself, they might be able to squeeze you in. read more
It's not often that you go to a restaurant and multiple groups walked by how much they like this place and how good the sushi is! I walked in on an unassuming Thursday night and had a lovely dinner outside on the patio! The staff was really friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. I ended up ordering the premium hand set, which came with five hand rolls that were stuffed! I really enjoyed and savor every bite and appreciated how the set came with a little appetizer beforehand. This was a wonderful dinner and the fish tasted really fresh! I would definitely come back. read more

A great bang for your buck! I think Sushi Tokoro is in a great location and if you ever drop by for lunch they usually have an amazing lunch deal/special that you can take advantage of that's around 25-36 for 3-5 hand rolls The amount of food in the actual hand rolls is also unbeatable. There were some that I even struggled to be able to fit in my mouth. But overall I would say the quality of fish isn't the best I've had in the city but that's completely unbeatable with the price. The place itself is quite spacious and they have a lot of seating. And I would say their service is superb! I can tell a lot of the workers are friends and it makes the place so much more inviting and they're also very willing to accommodate to each guest before serving me the handroll they would ask if I'm okay with wasabi (which I think is very sweet because some people definitely can't) and I wanted to request a certain fish to be torched and though they usually don't they immediately said I can do that for you though. It's in a very popular area and with these prices I would totally recommend a swing around if you want to get raw fish at a great deal and your belly full (unlike some omakase places)! read more

cozy and intimate -- was able to be seated with no reservation at around 5:30pm on weekday evening. the staff is welcoming and attentive to your needs, and the ambiance feels classy with full decor and jazz playing at a good volume in the background. they offer handrolls both à la carte and in a predetermined set -- i decided to go for the chef's handroll set while my partner opted for the premium set. the appetizers are tasty but not too overpowering (sashimi sunomono gets a special shoutout for how notably delicious the marinade is), and the handrolls come out pretty quickly. portion size is generous, and each piece is lovely in the variety of texture and flavor profile, all of which was wonderful. read more
They seem pretty fast paced but their handrolls are pretty chunky. Really liked the sparking sake that they had and could have ordered another bottle. Sushi chef was very attentive. We did one set and added a la carte. Would def come back as a fast casual place to grab some handrolls read more

New favorite hand roll place in the city!!! I've tried a lot in the city and feel nothing compares to this. When we went, we sat at the counter and had super fast service. The staff were super attentive and even let us sample some other items. The portions are great and the fish and other ingredients are so fresh too. The interior is also super nice and is a great place for a lunch or dinner date. I'll definitely be going back! read more

We had a reservation here for a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We arrived around our reserved time and was greeted by the person at the front desk whom also took our jackets which is a nice gesture. We were seated at the bar to get the full experience of the omaskase as that's what we were going to order that night. It was fairly busy that night and fairly small inside. The tables sit behind the sushi bar and are fairly close to it. We did the Sushiro Omakase which comes with a few appetizers to start with, some nigiri, a few handrolls, and dessert to finish it off. They also have a drink (alcohol and non-alcohol selection) to choose from. The fish quality for the most part was very good. My favorites were the chu toro, wagyu, and uni. The cod was pretty exceptional as well. As each piece came out the chef explained which each nigiri or handroll was made out of it or the type of fish. At times it was pretty hard to hear him since the chef was more soft spoken. There is another waiter that checks in on you and offers refills. We were pretty lucky that the chef gave us another handroll on the house. You can also order a la carte one your are done with the Omakase. Overall a great handroll and omakase. You can sit down and really take your time to enjoy the fish or be in and out. It's not an establishment that forces either. We never felt that rushed to leave once we were done. There are also some asian candies you can grab on the way out as well! read more
I loved the handroll experience here! I got the Premium Set ($48) and every single one was amazing. The flavors in the rolls mended together beautifully. The wakame seaweed appetizer was better than anything I've ever had. If you sit at the bar (counter experience) you get one handroll at a time so it feels more special :) It is a small-ish spot with limited seating, we came right when it opened and got seated right away. The interior is zen-like and the staff is super polite. read more

A cozy neighborhood hand roll place that always hits the spot. The flavors they use to put together each hand roll are delicious and go well with each fish. The sushi chefs are nice and friendly and contribute to a great overall experience. read more
11/10 my favorite handroll spot in the city. I love that the seaweed comes wrapped in plastic so you can take your time and you don't have to scarf it down right away while it's fresh. I will say it is a little messy to eat and a few of my toppings were falling out but it's super flavorful and the handrolls are pretty large. I feel like it's reasonably priced for what you get and it comes with a side! (I recommend getting the premium set with the miso soup!) read more
If you were to ask me one place I would always go back to when I visit NYC, it would now be Sushiro. My friends recommended this place after they visited when they first opened. We were greeted so warmly by the staff and you can tell immediately that this place cares a great deal into your dining experience. Everything felt so upscale, almost fine-diningesque. The interior is not that spacious but beautiful nonetheless. What makes this place so unique is their pricing. For the quality of fish and care that the chefs put into the food, you can't beat their prices. I would come here every day if I could. Highly highly recommend!!! read more
Food: The handrolls are amazing here! This might be one of my new favorite restaurants in NYC. The fish is extremely fresh, and all ingredients are of high quality. I tried the king salmon, spicy salmon, snow crab, toro, wagyu beef, sable fish, scallop, and kampachi. All of them were delicious, but my favorites were the toro, wagyu beef, scallop, and kampachi. Each handroll was filled with a generous amount of fish which is not the case for handroll bars I've been to. The rice was cooked perfectly. Each handroll is seasoned with soy sauce and wasabi. Each handroll was really so delicious and enjoyable. They even provided me with dessert on the house including a green tea mochi ice cream and a green tea tiramisu - both were delicious. Service: Service is phenomenal. The staff are attentive and constantly ask how everything is. My water was filled without having to ask. The sushi chef was also very friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: The restaurant has about 13 seats at the sushi bar, two counter seats near the window, and a few small tables. The decor and ambiance is very nice, and seating is comfortable. They also have a few tables outdoors in front of the restaurant. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this place! read more
Very nice chill vibes. Great service. Everything was extremely fresh. The sets come with apps. We tried the miso soup and the hijiki with our sets. We also ordered the sonomono (sashimi) on top of our orders; the fish was very fresh and the sauce it came with was a little sweet and salty with a hint of truffle, loved this. We all got the classic set and again the fish was very fresh and the flavors and textures were well curated. Some handroll spots don't dress their fish well but here everything had good flavor. A touch pricier than some hand roll spots but a great casual spot for fresh seafood. read more
We booked a dinner reservation for a party of 4 for 5:30 PM, it was perfect because a decent line formed while we were dining, definitely plan ahead if you want to try out their delicious handrolls! The ambiance is cozy and modern. Service is quick and welcoming, we opt'd for a table instead of the bar. We got 3 sets of The Premium handrolls and 5 a la carte handrolls. The Premium set - Kampachi, Scallop, Toro, Salmon, and Snow Crab. The rice is already seasoned with soy sauce and wasabi. The fish/sashimi portion is great, and the freshness is beyond my expectations, comparing to other handroll restaurant, texture is on point, not fishy at all and retained tons of flavor. It's hard to pick a favorite, since everything tasted amazing. Would be back another time to try more of their offerings. read more
Got the "premium" 5 roll set. Salmon, toro, kampachi, scallop, and snow crab. Added on a foie gras eel one at the end. They gave us a complimentary spicy salmon roll at the end. I like that they stuff the rolls with fish! Fast and casual. Get seated at the bar so you don't need to wrap the rolls yourself. It's always much better at the sushi bar where they serve you one roll at a time. read more

Wow!!! Food was delicious, fresh and the flavors so well balanced I got there around 5:45pm on a Saturday with no reservation and I was able to get a seat on the bar (reservations recommended for tables/large groups) Service was great and really fast I got the premium set that included an entree and 5 hand rolls $48 (not including tax/tip) I picked the salad as my entree it was ok, different textures but the stars are the hand rolls so incredibly good, rice is moist and the flavors are cohesive but still different from each other I even ordered and extra one of the kampachi because it was crazy good The restaurant is small but with a great vibe/lighting read more
Got the five-roll Classic meal, and while it is a tad expensive (almost $50), it felt like a midday treat and the sushi was so fresh and tasty. One of the fresher spots in the city for sure. They don't have a lunch menu though, which would have me coming way more often. Zen-like atmosphere too and tasty miso soup with what looked like homemade tofu. Would come back again with a friend. 5 stars!!! read more
I understand the hype for this spot. If you are a sushi lover, this is the spot for you. They give really huge chunks of sashimi on the hand roll, and it's worth every buck. we found some of them packed with flavor (wasabi) and some a little more bland though, which is why I knocked a star. It doesn't come w soy sauce because it's already in the roll, but still I thought I could use more. Next time I'll ask for a side of sauce for dipping. Nonetheless, staff were very friendly and helpful and quick to tend to us. We got a table for 6 easily on OpenTable and had a pleasant time for dinner last Friday night. Thank you!! read more
Best handroll place we've been to thus far in NYC! We opted to try the premium set, which includes an app. And then we added on the scallop carpaccio and a couple more handrolls at the end - eel foie gras and kampachi. Everything was super yummy and flavorful. Rice was nicely cooked and they give a lot of fish on each roll. I think the value is definitely worth it! Service was super friendly. We were greeted right as we entered and attended to well throughout our time there. The restaurant has table and bar seating. We opted for the tables. Clean a decor throughout the restaurant. The restroom was also clean. Highly recommend this place!!! read more
I'm so glad I finally got to try this handroll place - it was absolutely delicious!! Both my friend and I ordered the premium set, which also came with an appetizer - I got the miso soup and she got the seaweed salad. I loved every single one of the handrolls - it was really hard to choose a favorite. You get so much fish in each one, the flavors go so well with each other, and a lot of care goes into making sure the seaweed remains crispy so you're able to experience a variety of textures in each bite! I was actually eyeing the bar seating because the decor with some of the "floating" plants looked really unique. Both sets on the menu are a little bit pricy (especially compared to Nami Nori), but I do think the rolls are a bit bigger and the ingredients are of higher quality. I think sometimes service can also go above and beyond if you're lucky - I had another friend who visited this restaurant with her boyfriend to celebrate a birthday and they were even presented with a free roll :) I don't see myself coming back regularly but if I ever wanted to treat myself on a special occasion, this spot would definitely be at the top of my list, especially if I was craving handrolls! read more

My friends and I had the best handroll experience here!! We all got the premium set and the fish was SO fresh! Every single handroll was incredible! The owner and staff here so are wonderful! Came here for a weeknight dinner and we had a reservation. The space isn't super big, a really nice sushi bar area and a couple tables so I definitely recommend getting a res. The decor and interior are beautiful. The service was also really attentive. Our waters were refilled consistently and our waitress explained how to eat our hand rolls as well. We each got the classic set with 5 hand rolls and comes with an appetizer which you can choose between miso soup, seaweed tofu salad, or edamame. We all opted for the seaweed tofu salad and it was refreshing and a nice change from the usual miso soup or edamame I usually get at most restaurants. The classic set comes with yellowtail, scallop, tuna, salmon, and shrimp. These hand rolls are beautiful and very well packed, not skimpy on filling. They were all delicious and this has become my new favorite hand roll spot! read more
Everything from the second you walk into the door of the restaurant is perfection. Beautifully decorated, intimate place perfect for date night or a catch up with friends. Sitting at the bar gives you the option to see how everything is prepared. The wait staff are very quick and accommodating and the sushi chef was so kind. Everything was fresh and delicious and the chef gave us a little tasting afterwards of the spicy salmon roll. Amazing. My favorites had to have been yellowtail and the sable, the truffle was very delicate and paired perfectly with the smokiness of the charred fish. Gonna definitely be my new spot!!! Started off with the miso soup, and that soup was so good. Flavorful and warm. My partner got the salad, but we didn't love it as much. He ordered another miso soup because he liked it so much. The rolls were good. The kampachi was a great start. The other rolls felt more standard to me. Not incredibly filling though.
