Solid Japanese food, good quality sushi. My favorite was the Yuzu Ginger yellowtail, but funnily enough I didn't see the sauce in the bag and had it as-is... just the fish alone was very well prepared with bits of roe and lime zest. I tried a bit of the sauce at the end and it was incredible too (I'll try to remember it for next time). The sweetie roll was just okay--I found that the tempura shrimp had an odd flavor and was a bit too thickly battered for my taste. But the mango avocado and salmon on top were good, it needed a nice coating of eel sauce which I added on the side. I liked the famous crispy pancake because you got to try lots of sashimi with shredded mango (so different not in a roll!) and sauce--they mixed the spicy mayo and eel sauce together in the sauce container, I would have preferred them separate because I'm not a huge fan of spicy mayo and only wanted a little. But the dish itself was very different, the pancake was this almost chicharrones texture but in the form of a neutral tasting chip, very interesting. Glad I tried but not sure if I'd order again. I think this spot is great mostly for sashimi and classic rolls, but I appreciate the big swings they're taking!

Best vegetarian sushi!! Loved the extra choices! Cute place with adorably sweet service! Tofu skin and avocado were my favorite. Peanuts and avocado is surprisingly good. Spinach was a touch spicy.
The sushi tasted very fresh! Service was also amazing, our server was very sweet. We sat outside since it was nice out and it was a great ambiance. definitely come here if you want good japanese food!

I love sushi. In my area, my favorite place where I bought sushi was closed, I decided to find another sushi cafe. My choice fell on Japanese sushi. This is delicious sushi and lychee sake. Served in an interesting bamboo bottle. This cafe is colorful, the waiters are friendly. One thing I didn't like was that it was very cold, as if the air conditioner had been turned on. Maybe it was cold through the window. If it's warm there, I'll come again.
I love their sushi! Everything ALWAYS taste so fresh, which is why my daughter has made Jpan our go to neighborhood staple for sushi. We always take our food to go but decided on dining in for our mother/daughter lunch date. It's a small establishment, well kept & very clean. They have a backyard with tables that have a plastic guard up between each. Great for those that are worried about social distance! The 2 ladies that served us were really nice, checked up on us frequently and our food was brought to us fairly quickly.
Dropped by for a quick dinner one evening and walked away very satisfied and happy with the meal. The place itself isn't much to look at but the staff was super nice and accommodating and looked like a spot that locals frequent. We started off with a kani salad which was delicious - just enough mayo and light. We followed it up with yellowtail scallion roll which was very fresh, the spicy tuna roll which was absolutely incredible (one of the best I've had so far), the Philadelphia roll and the winter roll which was also really good - the fish was tasty and fresh and the sauce wasn't overwhelming. Overall, everything was very tasty, the fish was super fresh, the rolls are a good size and service was quick. Great spot for a quick meal and a good neighborhood sushi spot! Will definitely come back again.
The toro appetizer was excellent and visually exciting to boot. All the pieces of the sashimi entree felt fresh; was the perfect amount to feel full without overindulging.

I think their prefixed menu is worth it! You get large portions and pay a reasonable price! About $34 dollars with a choice of a soup or a salad, 1 appetizer and entree. The salad and appetizer can definitely be shared. They also have a great selection! From the Prefixed Menu: Salad Spicy king crab crunchy mix wrapped with layer of avocado. Delicious!!!!!!! Cold Appetizers Spicy Tuna Twister Spicy tuna and tempura flakes wrapped with layer of avocado. Delicious!!!!! Rock Shrimp we chose separately. It was crispy and had some spice to it. However, it wasn't full pieces of shrimp. They were cut up. Not too crazy about that part. Roll from the prefixed menu: Monkey Roll Shrimp tempura and cucumber topped with avocado and served with three different kinds of chef's special sauce. Love this roll! Roll from the regular menu Lovely Roll Spicy tuna, scallop, avocado and caviar topped with lobster meat salad and wasabi caviar. My friend enjoyed that roll. I definitely recommend this place for sushi. The staff is nice, the place is clean and their food is fresh!
Small sushi spot located in park slope, Brooklyn. The food is very delicious and tasty. We had the cranberry avocado salad and the mushroom salad- both were very fresh and tasty! For the main entree, we had the sashimi and sushi for 2. We were a party of 4 and could not finish it. The portions were massive! The sashimi and sushi itself was very good and fresh. 4 stars because service can be a little bit better. They completely missed my order of shrimp gyoza; I ordered chicken yaki udon to go and got vegetable yaki udon instead. I would come back; however it wouldn't be my first choice.

Recently i dined at Jpan for the first time, they have a set menu course option for $37, appetizer a entree and a roll or soup/salad. The banana roll was a fun try but not my favorite, as you may know I am a lover of tofu skin and avocado roll, and monkey roll. Yumm. The pork katsu is dry but not the worst i've had. Good service but I'll just take out next time like i usually do, or try their 3 course tasting! I'm intrigued. read more
Yum! My friend and I used to order from here all the time when she lived nearby. We stopped in for dinner the other day. It's always so nice eating sushi with friends who like the same things as you. We got some tuna, eel, lobster and soft shell crab in our 3 rolls we shared. I also had a Thai ice tea. Service was good, ambiance was nice with varieties of people dining in and deliveries going out. Food was good just like old times. read more

Came here for dinner on a whim because I didn't feel like traveling far to get sushi. That is a mistake I won't be making again. Ordered the fried calamari salad, the Kirin roll (soft shell crab, eel and tuna), shrimp and veggie tempura, the monkey roll and eel cucumber roll. The salad was beyond disappointing and disgusting. I couldn't find a single piece of calamari in it and ask the waitress if I had the right order. She told me it was shredded calamari mixed with the carrots that's fried so it's in there even if I don't taste it. So for $10 I had a plate of chopped Roman lettuce with some leftover tempura. If it tasted amazing, I would have still been ok but it was tasteless because there is no dressing that comes with that salad. The shrimp and veggie tempura was borderline ok. The shrimp wasn't properly deveined though and the veggie consisted of 1small piece of broccoli and 1 thin slice of taro. Inflection much? The rolls were ok, nothing special and I honestly didn't feel well after eating the Kirin roll. Wow, this place is mediocre at best. Service is ok but everything is sticky, from their tables to their seats and lastly their floors. Which makes me wonder how clean the place is and if the raw stuff is fresh. My advice, skip this place. It's not worth the calories. read more
Decided to order take-out sushi from Jpan on Saturday afternoon. Too pricey for pretty standard sushi dishes. Quality: After a long night out, wanted to order some sushi to replenish the system. Jpan is the closest spot to my apartment, so decided to check it out. The food was okay, but for the higher prices I don't think it was worth it. I started with the Tuna And Salmon Lunch Platter, which comes with two pieces of tuna sushi, two pieces of salmon sushi and a tuna salmon cucumber roll, along with soup and salad. The lunch special is a decent deal, but I did not like the combo roll and felt the tuna was not very fresh. I also ordered the Crazy Spicy Roll, which was salmon tempura and avocado topped with jalapeno and scallion. It was not something I would order again. The Fire Island Roll, shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna, was a good mix of flavor though pricey. Quantity: The lunch special is a good sized meal. The house specialty rolls are quite large, one and a standard roll would be quite filling. Value: $14 for the Tuna And Salmon Lunch Platter. $12.50 for the Crazy Spicy Roll. $14 for the Fire Island Roll. Ambiance: Jpan is located along 5th Avenue in the Park Slope area. It is a relatively small sushi spot with about six tables up front, and a little sushi bar area in the back. I believe they may have an outdoor patio open during warmer months, but since I was just grabbing take-out I stuck near the front. The front area was decorated simple with some bamboo sticks to separate tables and dim red-tinted lighting. There was no music playing while I waited, which I found weird. Crowd: There were two families dining inside and two individuals waiting for take-out orders. It is a fairly casual spot, but definitely set up more for take-out. Service: My take-out order took about fifteen minutes longer than the estimated time. I put in the order close to when they opened, but they need to update their system to be more accurate. Parking: Limited street parking across the residential area. read more

Easily deserves a five for the quality of the sushi and price tag. Only thing this place lacks is a bit on the atmosphere front, but the beautiful outdoor seating makes up for that! Must say, I thought wine for 6 bucks a glass was quite the steal. The green tea was also delicious. We were served quickly and I really liked our server. Very profession and personable. We started with the seaweed salad which was pretty standard and tasty. Our sushi was excellent. Shared five rolls (one special roll and 4 regular) and it was more than enough. We probably only needed 4 to share. The rolls had a great ratio of fish to rice and it all tasted extremely fresh. Would definitely come back here if I'm in the area or go to prospect park for the day. read more

Lovely neighborhood spot with solid food! They were very accommodating and made a social veggie roll for me with sweet potato and avocado. It tasted super fresh and really hit the spot. The eggplant miso was also lovely. Would be nice to reduce single use items like disposable chopsticks and plastic soy sauce containers when eating in. Will be back! read more

Finally trying out this place per Will C's and Jackie W's reviews and I can see why this place is well recieved. Decor is nice and there's an open area in the back (seems like all restaurants have these "back yards" along 5th Ave). Service was nice, but I don't recall a warm wet nap like most Japanese places provide prior to ordering. The special rolls are what people come here for apparently as they are very tasty - altough I don't think I'm that into the texture. The rolls are following a trend of non-seaweed wrap. Volcano using scallion pancake (awesome), and Ever Green some sort of soy wrap. Inventive and delicious however difficult to pick up/ hold together with a chopstick as it falls appart pretty easily. App 12 bucks for special rolls. I also had a nebayaki don and it was super delicious and a pretty good value since it includes a salad and two pieces of shrimp tempura for 9 bucks. I'll be back to try some more cooked food. read more

The sushi selection is huge to say the least. They have great lunch specials that are very reasonably priced. Two rolls for $9 and a bento box for $9.50. Peanut avocado roll I personally thought had to many peanuts, but tempura sweet potato roll was very good. Decor is simple and quiet. The staff is very sweet and attentive. House salad and ginger dressing was standard and good. The miso soup was ok. Nothing special. It's a simple sushi spot that is fresh and you're standard sushi choice! read more

Decent sushi restaurant in downtown Brooklyn. They have a good selection of sushi rolls that are moderately priced for this neighborhood. I came in earlier in the evening and it wasn't too packed, just a few families out for dinner taking their kids to try Japanese food for the first time. For my rolls, I went with the Dragon roll and the Eel & Avocado roll. Both were decent. My main course was a big plate of Vegetable fried rice. This really hit the spot. And last but not least I also enjoyed a plate of pork gyoza or pork pan fried dumplings. Overall I had a nice experience here. I would come back. read more
