It's rare that I give 1 star but the food and service was absolute trash. I ordered the soft shell crab appetizer which was disgusting and inedible. I also ordered the scorpion roll which comes in the shape of a scorpion which was pretty cool. It consists of 12 pieces of soft shell crab sushi pieces and all I could taste was the rice. The sushi wasn't fresh at all and was also flavorless, dry, and stiff. It definitely wasn't made fresh today and was probably stored in the fridge for a day or 2. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki which was so disappointing I couldn't believe what I was looking at. They boiled some chicken and poured some sauce & sesame seeds on top of it. The chicken wasn't even grilled, sautéed, or seasoned. Just bland, boiled unseasoned flavorless chicken. Absolutely disgusting!! It came with miso soup which had these weird pieces of tofu in it which the soup was also gross. Even the sake was nasty. I love sake and have never tasted bad sake but they definitely have some. I was super uncomfortable as the female waitress was standing there watching & staring at me while I ate practically the whole time. She even at one point sat across from me and had a loud obnoxious conversation in her language with the other employee. It was so rude & unprofessional. They charged me 15% gratuity and still printed out the gratuity slip and stapled it to the front of the bill where you sign after using your credit card. You included the tip already so why would I give you any more of my money. Why has the world become so greedy!!! This is hands down the worst sushi I have ever tasted. Everything was nasty!!! Now I've been here many moons ago back when I lived in the area. It was my fave spot to hit up after the gym for a quick roll and some saké. There are many sushi places to compare here in south Brooklyn so as I came back today after years I've noticed it's still clean and cozy but seemed a tad hasty as the rolls came out super fast and you can tell. My Alaskan roll has a hint of onion I have no idea why but I'm not into that- onions hate me. So without letting my nostalgia judge I'm giving 3 stars because it simply doesn't feel the same as it used to and perhaps the quality just isn't what it was. One of my favorite sushi restaurants in the city!! The service is EXCELLENT! We were served green tea once seated and asked if we needed a refill often. The waitress clears the empty plates immediately so the table is never crowded. The sashimi is very fresh but my favorite is A3. Okinawa because it never disappoints!! My reliable source of fresh sushi in the neighborhood. Especially when you need to eat on Good Fridays. My family and I were impressed with how fresh everything was. Even the cooked rolls surpassed their expectations. We enjoyed their lobster, oyster and Sakura special rolls. Even the eel sashimi. I haven't been to Ichi Sushi in years but tagged along with family to try it out again. As far as typical sushi spots along 86th St., Ichi Sushi is on par with other spots I've tried though the ambiance has a more traditional feel. The servers were really attentive in taking our orders and refilling our tea. One notable aspect is that they have buy one get one 50% off certain special rolls on their menu. Everyone has their own preferences but there are three rolls that stuck out to me the most: naruto roll, fire roll and spider roll. The naruto roll was so fresh tasting and the fire roll was delicious. The spider roll has a huge fried crab poking out the end and is so yummy. Just a little tip: be wary of any roll that comes with cream cheese because they are not shy with it. Some new fun things I recommend ordering is the broiled yellow tail neck with ponzu sauce and the sakedon with special rice. Although the salmon isn't as fatty as I prefer, the dish is still really good especially with the way they prepare the rice. Pleasantly surprised with my visit here and will be coming back. read more

I haven't been here or ordered takeout/deliveries from Ichi Sushi in a very long time. My husband & I wanted some sushi and decided to come support Ichi during this time. We like to pick a few places (we haven't been in awhile or some old favorites) to support businesses. Apparently it's been at least 1-2years because when I called for pick up (10/30) for the corner location on Bay Parkway; I discovered the location closed (shuttered). I had to call to find out that they had shut that location down a year ago or so (unclear if it was right before Covid or way before Covid) and operating at their main location (bigger) over by 20th Avenue [between Bay 26th St & Bay 25th St]. The numbers are the same just only one location now instead of two. I then went over there to call & pick up the order. The setup for all pickups is like Nyonya- a table jammed by the entrance; allowing one customer at a time to enter the front door to pick up order or place orders. There were some scattering of paper menus which I took (so I can throw out the old menus in my house). If they are not watching the doors, you have to call in to state you arrived to pick up the food orders; so then they would come to you. Food is just as good as I remember. We just haven't really eaten sushi is a long time; which we need to fix. My husband says that sushi in Taiwan and Japan is much better and ruin it for him eating in NYC (hence we haven't eaten sushi in a long while). read more

Their yellowtail was also a mixture of yellowtail parts instead of a whole yellowtail fish which wasn't as fresh. The service was great, the food was just not there at all. I've lived in this area since 2017 and always walked by Ichi Sushi and finally we tried this place out. The service is good and it was clean inside. However the sushi and sashimi were frozen and barely thawed. Everything tasted really cheap. What we were really disappointed about was this: We ordered the Nabeyaki Udon. It was MISO SOUP with udon added in and some grocery store ingredients. Not the dashi broth that Nabeyaki udon is supposed to have. For $17 this is bordering on a scam. I normally never leave reviews for anything and mind my own business. But this was just unacceptable. If the owner is reading this please don't take offense and try and improve based on our customer feedback. I had dinner here with friends and we had a really good time. We tried various sushi, tataki, yakisoba (not pictured), chirashi, and their mochi. Everything was honestly on point -- even their interesting rolls such as the Tiffany roll, which had kani, strawberry, mango, and avocado. Their chirashi was super cute and the presentation of the rice reminded me of ice cream. We tried all four flavors of their mochi ice cream (strawberry, green tea, vanilla, and mango). Personally I loved their vanilla and mango, but you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. This is a solid spot for sushi and we plan on coming back in the future! read more

Absolutely love this place! I live in queens and I'd drive 40 mins to come here for the sushi because it's that good! The food is both delicious and aesthetically pleasing (as you can see from my photos)! Every time I come, the sashimi is always fresh and literally melts in my mouth. There are a variety of sushi rolls and each have its unique and delicious taste! The eel avocado hand rolls are also to die for. Super delish! The service is also amazing! The Boss lady is extremely nice and attentive. She recommends the best food on the menu and nothing disappoints. There are 2 locations, this one (Bay Parkway) and the one on 86th! I ordered a sashimi bento dinner box. My daughter ordered a salmon dinner bento box. The menu clearly states amongst the usual a bento dinner box comes with (i.e. some tempura vegetables and shrimp, gyoza or shumai etc) it's also supposed to come with a side of RICE. My daughter's came with the rice as expected and stated on the menu and when I asked what about mine since I didn't get a side of rice, the waitress said the sashimi has rice in it so no side of rice for me ?? I've never had this happen. I didn't want to argue so I didn't but this was nonsense and petty and have never had this happen anywhere. Lastly the check came with a 15% gratuity automatically included in the check for a table of two which I would have gladly added anyway . But the entire experience was just tacky and sloppy. This place has become a family favorite in the Bay Parkway area of Brooklyn. There's actually two locations, I've always eaten at this one on Bay Parkway. Tonight's sushi and sashimi entrees were all very good. And since I've been here so many times, I must say the service has been better each time. (Think they recognize my clan now? We're always coming as a pack). Back to the food: scallop sashimi was excellent - supple and sweet. The spicy tuna and squid roll was not only plated beautifully but it was also packed with flavor. I'm always a fan of the Vegetable tempura - especially when I get more than one broccoli piece. The unagi Don (eel over rice) is always a favorite - grilled to perfection and that sauce! Yum. Another beautifully presented entree was the Salmon Lover's sushi and sashimi. Each piece was just simple and perfectly proportional. Desserts are not a common part of my family night outs but we just love the Japanese Fried Ice Creams, doesn't even matter what flavor! Love it. Ordered through seamless during the pandemic and picked up my order. They block off the entry way so you must order through the phone or use a ordering app. They seem to also offer delivery. The sushi was made according to my customizations. Overall, food was decent and I think I'll likely order again. I'm hoping they disinfect and wash their hands during this unfortunate time. My go to sushi place! Over the years, I've been to a lot of sushi places that have changed owners and their quality was just not the same. At Ichi Sushi, I find that they provide excellent service as well as aesthetically pleasing dishes (Ex: Okinawa appetizer). I usually order Spicy Kani Roll, California Roll and Eel with Cream Cheese (if you haven't tried this, you're missing out!) The Eel with Cream Cheese is a substitute of their usual avocado but they have no issues replacing it. It is not on the menu but I was recommended this and have been getting it since! With the pandemic, I've been ordering take out to support local businesses. Ichi Sushi follows all protocols and only allows one customer at a time to pick up their orders. I recommend calling in advance to place your order and by the time you arrive, your order should be ready. They're quick :) They're also decently priced! Each roll is about $4-6 and their specialty rolls are about $10-12. But they have a BOGO 50% for their speciality rolls so take advantage of that! I always feel satisfied after having sushi from Ichi Sushi, haven't gotten sick so they're safe!! I highly recommend Ichi Sushi. read more

We went here recently with a friend for a girls dinner. Being one of their smaller locations, there are limited amount of tables that can seat customers. Over looking the menu there were lots of options to choose from. There were regular and specialty sushi rolls, sashimi and cooked meals as well. Since there was three of us and we were really craving sushi, we decided to get the sushi/ sashimi love boat for three. The sushi love boat for three came with assorted cuts of sashimi, a tuna roll, a salmon roll, nigiri, a California roll and a dragon roll to share. We also ordered Kanu salad and kakifry (fried baby oyster) to share with the main meal. The sushi was very fresh to the taste and was presented nicely. Our booth was close to the sushi bar, so we can watch them prep our meal. The location is easy to get to by the subway. Parking is on the street and can be tricky depending the time of the day. This is my favorite local sushi restaurant. My bff and I come here a couple of times when we want to have a quiet dinner. There are these booths where the cushions are very comfortable to sit on. They serve tea while you wait for your dish. I typically order the rolls, Philadelphia, Alaskan and Boston. They are always fresh and very filling. When I come home late, I call beforehand on the subway. They always have my order ready when I arrive. If it's a Friday night, I typically sit in front of the hostess desk and sampling the free candies. If you want fresh and cheap sushi, I recommend this restaurant. read more

I really really dislike giving one stars, but that is how awful my experience at Ichi was. Ordered a pick up, when i went to go pick it up, she just handed me my meal and took my money. No greeting or smile. But that's fine, cause I just came for the sushi. When i arrived home and opened the bag, the order wasn't even mine!! They gave me the wrong order, furious (because i was starving) I called and told me the issue. They wanted me to go back swap the meals because the other customer is waiting for his meal (the one that i have) FIRST, they should have confirmed and checked if what they handed me was my meal. Second, they want ME to go back to them? Okay sure let me just waste my time and energy on a mistake that should not have happened. and third, they were willing to give the order that I took home to another customer?!! After 10 minutes of arguing with the owner on the fine, I gave in. I went back to get me money back and picked up my original order (only because i was starving and craving sushi). The sushi itself was not even worth it. I ordered a ell avocado roll, might as well just order an avocado roll since there was barely any eel in it. Disgusting horrible service. So back here again for dinner with my parents. Today got the Brooklyn Bridge, Okinawa and some sushi. Brooklyn Bridge comes with a dragon roll and 2 soups/salads. The sashimi was ok according to my dad because he felt they were cheaper quality of the fish (salmon, yellowtail, tuna, spanish mackerel). I thought the dragon roll had too much cucumber. The Okinawa was delicious - salmon, yellowtail, tuna and masago (don't really care for this) surrounded by a nice amount of avocado with spicy mayo and chef's sauce drizzled all over. This was very yummy and nicely priced for the size. We also had eel sushi, which my mother felt was small - but really these days, that's how small they come. The uni (jumbo) was fine, but to expensive at $4/piece and made my father question quality of the "regular" uni that was $3. I had an ikura maki which i liked, but didn't like that, of course, the only roll that I wanted was more expensive marked up handwritten style ($3.75 instead of the $2.75 for other rolls and ALL rolls marked up from $2.50 to $2.75). I also ordered the fried ice cream. Total 180 from the first time I got it. It was lovely and crispy and so yummy! This time it tasted like the green tea ice cream was shoved into Chinese sponge cake. Not what I wanted or expected and made me kick myself for not getting just plain green tea ice cream. Overall the food was decent, but little things here and there make me sad about how the quality of things in general have gone down while prices have gone up. read more
