Grab a quick lunch (rice balls) yesterday around 1pm with my husband. -Rice balls- 1 small chicken Yaya 1 small eel 1 small pork belly with kimchi 1 large Japanese The pork belly with kimchi was spicier than expected. Lots of tender yummy pork but only 1 piece of kimchi. The Japanese is really delicious! It has imitation crabmeat, seaweed, and egg. Yum! I adore the YaYa glass cups. Very cute and sturdy.

Loved going here. But I usually get the boyfriend drink, and i noticed some red stuff in my drink! What is this?

This place used to be good, when it first opened. Now the quality of the foods and drink is TERRIBLE. Like, why is there a bug in my drink? If you want Yayas's, go somewhere else. I heard the Manhattan one is much better than this one. Absolutely disgusted by this, if I could 0/5 from me.

I didn't feel like cooking dinner tonight. I placed an order on Grubhub for a couple of riceballs. When I picked up my order, they were warm. I highly recommend ordering ahead before going there. When I went, there were a couple of people waiting for their orders. There was no social distancing. I'm glad I was able to pick up and go.

This adorable tea shop also offers a wide variety of trinkets, toys, and of course, beverages and onigiri! We got a wide variety of plant-based onigiri flavors: vegan citrus spare rib, gong bao, and vegan ginger chicken! The vegan ginger chicken was my personal favorite. Everyone working there is very sweet and efficient with taking orders. This place is best for takeout orders, so I would find a place to sit down and eat ahead of time.

Overall Rating: 5/5 Food: It's super fulfilling for your cravings! I was craving for it the other day and went with my grandpa and bought two yaya chicken rice ball and one shrimp tempura. It was a bit salty but honestly it does the job! It can be confusing trying to assemble the rice ball but you'll get the hang of it, just follow the directions! :) I also got a matcha latte with pop lychee (I know weird combo) but it was good! It was the perfect amount of sugar. Ambience: It's decently lit and has a very calming environment but unfortunately with Covid there is no dining in Price: Rice balls range from $2.74-$5 ish depending on what filling and size you get! Drinks are also around $5-6 as well. Service: Ordered takeout and it was super quick. They were super nice about it too.

We asked for updates on our order quite a few times. I noticed all the costumers who ordered after us had already left. 35 minutes after we placed our order, I decided to ask about our order status again. That was when they told us they did not have pork belly. One of the rice balls we ordered was with pork belly and kimchi. I decided to replace it with another smoked sausage rice ball. Another issue was the food label. We also got 2 shrimp tempura rice balls but requested for one to have crab meat. They had switched around the food labels. The one without crab meat was labeled with the '+ crab meat' sticker. The one with crab meat was not labeled. This food label neglect can lead to serious health complications for someone who may have allergies to crab meat or seafood.

Best local spot for all the brooklyn folks. For all kids who grew up in the Bensonhurst- Dyker Heights-Bay Ridge area, this is a very well known spot for their onigiri and drinks. The drinks selection are unlimited and you can even customize your own if you want. The boyfriend drink is a popular in case it's your first time here! & don't forget the Japanese onigiri

This always hits the spot. Super wide variety of drinks; fruit teas are their most popular. I personally think all of their teas taste the same ( like juice ) but it's great for kids+ teens. I often come for the rice balls; my absolute favorite is the spicy crawfish, but the yaya chicken is also a must-try. Currently only doing take out d/t covid, but they also accept orders through seamless/grubhub.

Cute neighborhood spot with a variety of drinks. You can't go wrong with their recommended list. I got the "Second Chance" with Mixed fruit jelly. It is a mix of Strawberry and Peach White Tea. It is sooo refreshing and I love the fruit jellies. Without adjusting sugar level, it is still not too sweet. They always make it quick and the person handling the register is always so polite and efficient. I regularly get their onigiri rice balls and they are sooo delicious. Great on the go food that is pretty filling. I always get the Yaya Special or the Shrimp Tempura. Delicious and great price. Highly recommend this spot to try. They seem to have taken away the indoor seating although there used to be. Maybe they'll bring it back one day.

I got the yaya chicken and salmon rice balls. I really liked it but the salmon one was a bit dry (expected) but the yaya chicken was amazing. It was super filling, first time trying onigiri because I've always seen it in anime and I've always wanted to try one and thanks to this place I have. Cant wait to visit again! :) Update: Visited again and tried spicy crawfish I think it's my favorite one, all though it wasn't really spicy, you could use your own toppings but personally I liked it either way.

Cooked Salmon Rice Ball. It looks miserable.

I have been going there for years and i always prefer this one over the one on Grand St. I gave it 3 stars because i want to echo what another reviewer has said about the price of everything been creeping up every year while the ingredients are getting less. I ordered the cooked salmon and spicy garlic the other day and there were so much rice but the ingredients are missing. Also lacks flavor and vinegar in the rice. I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident but that is disappointing because i want to support small businesses like them. Otherwise service is still good and prompt. I understand why raising price is needed but please don't reduce the ingredients.

The fish was very fresh and good quality. We tried the fried purple yams, fried chicken, stir fried udon, yakisoba, and a variety of sushi platters. I would highly recommend the Tokyo Don which was a variety of fish and seafood on a bed of rice. The Salmon Lover's was also excellent, and slices of fish were nice and thick. Service: Service was wonderful! Our waiter was attentive and came back to check on us throughout the meal. There's a button to press when you need service, and our waiter was always quick to come after we pressed it. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size with tables sectioned off into small "rooms". There are two private rooms downstairs that fit about 6-7 people each. The rooms are adjoining and good for large groups. Seating downstairs is the Japanese-style tables where you put your legs into a pit under the table. Decor and ambiance is very nice, and seating is comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

It was an absolute lifesaver that kept the girls happily entertained. And the food was absolutely worth savoring. We kicked things off with a round of handrolls--salmon avocado, spicy salmon, and yellowtail--which were perfectly crisp and packed with fresh fish. I went all in on the Salmon Lovers set, and it was an absolute dream. It came with a massive, beautiful spread of salmon sushi, seven thick pieces of melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, a salmon avocado roll, a bright kani salad, and a really savory piece of grilled salmon. We also shared the Ysukiji sushi platter, which featured a gorgeous, high-quality assortment of cuts, while the Smoked Chicken bento box was a huge hit, offering fantastic cooked flavors and generous portions. The room we were in mimicked a traditional Japanese room where everyone had to sit on the floor and put their legs under the table. It was fun for the younger people but it was difficult for the elders to sit down and get back up. Between the incredibly fresh sushi and the warm hospitality that kept the whole family smiling the entire time, this spot easily earned five stars. We can't wait to come back!

Tables are abit small especially when meals are always serve in large platters. The table barely fit all the dishes so they had to remove the condiment tray to make space but it's not ideal with the squirming kids. I suggest changing some of the plate sizing to better fit the tables. The condiment tray have 4 sauces available: ketchup, sweet & sour sauce or is it sweet chili sauce?, hot sauce and low sodium soy sauce. They also do not provide the claypot sweetened soy sauce. The only soy sauce available (is low sodium) but that makes the dish saltier. Great service and good food. The baked rice dish- do not recommend. My friend said HK Tea is better. The sizzling platters are soo goood. Of the claypot rice, the classic pork ribs is the best. Chicken one was too dry for hubby's taste. The HK milk tea taste malty which one of us enjoy and another did not. Their regular rice plate portion size is abit small. The noodles are abit bland if you order that instead of rice to go with the sizzling plate. Veggies are just steamed and healthy but wish they were seasoned. We ordered (right to left, top to bottom in my pic): dragon, Hawaii, white Russian, Brooklyn, spider Favorite was the white Russian maybe because the tuna on top was torched. The menu didn't note that. Least favorite was either the Brooklyn or Hawaii. General comment on all of them is that they skimp on ingredients. My photo doesn't show their cross section but basically the ingredients are not well balanced on the insides. The seafood is always the least represented ingredient. If you look at the Brooklyn roll (shrimp, kani, tempura crunch), the insides are 80% tempura crunch, 10% shrimp, and 10% kani. The spider roll should be a whole soft shell crab fried and rolled in. The batter was twice the thickness of the crab. I miss the way Wasabi has thick crab meat and it comes out piping hot. Another general comment that I find is an issue across all Brooklyn sushi places is that the rice isn't tart at all. It didn't come out hot but at least it wasn't dry and hard. I like how their menu has pictures of all rolls, but most didn't appeal to us for some reason. Wasabi's presentation is much better. I also like how Wasabi's menu would tell you which items are cooked. That's helpful for those who don't want to eat raw fish. Service was good. We were in and out of this place in 30 min. I joked we can go back to Wasabi for sushi part two. The lady was diligent about filling our teacups even though we needed refills two minutes apart from each other. Good that tea was hot. Dipping their toes in so many different arenas might actually be their detriment because they're going for everything while not excelling in most. I would rather they cut down on some dishes and make sure all are great instead. I absolutely love their Thai fried chicken, which is so affordable (8 pieces for $12), and tastes so crispy on the outside but so moist and flavorful on the inside. It comes with a tangy fish sauce, but you can add different green curry and/or red curry for 50 cents each. I like it best with the fish sauce. However, that's the Thai fried chicken is the only dish I absolutely love from this place. Everything else is very mediocre, which is unfortunate. 6 rolls bento - $15; comes with california roll, spicy tuna roll, lobster salad roll, salmon avocado roll, eel cucumber roll, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken. It's a lot of food for $15, and the sushi actually tastes decent. The kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken are just tiny portions, but the fried chicken are like nuggets and taste really bad. 4/5 Mushroom noodles - $10; It's so rare to find such affordable e-fu noodles but sadly, it tastes nothing like what e-fu noodles should taste like. I wouldn't even know that they're supposed to be e-fu noodles if I just blindly tasted. I would not get this again here. 3/5 Pad see ew beef - $13; Again, like the mushroom noodles, it didn't taste like pad see ew. It's missing that sweetness and charred factor that's usually present in pad see ew. 3/5 Pad Kra Pao (??) - I can't remember if it's this dish that I got, but it was some type of Thai rice dish with a meat sauce. It was so terrible, I only ate 10% of it and didn't take it to go. 1/5 Pad thai - I didn't try it but my friend got it and the color looked really off. Aside from the food, there are other improvements to be made here. It seems like a family-run restaurant, with only two workers facing the customers. It's really hard to get their attention when the restaurant is busy. The space is very tight and looks like it could be more well-maintained. They also need more menus. The green sauce is slightly spicy but pairs well with the chicken. The chicken is fried to excellence, it's juicy, the crunch is superb and really flavorful. It's such a good value for the money and honestly tastes amazing. Definitely an underrated place! Highly recommend you give it a try.
