$38 for the DIY platter for pickup paid in cash. Lately the quality went down. The yellowtail sashimi was cut into small pieces and sushi did not taste fresh. Last week I ordered a platter and stomach started hurting and that never happened from this spot and they also got a C rating now. It was also very dead when I went in there. read more

Ordered a bunch of food here to celebrate a birthday and overall, good quality sushi for the establishment. Most of the rolls are standardly good, though I will say that the pad thai was kind of bland, could definitely use some more seasoning there. The standout for me was the Ninja Sandwich though, which was basically avocado and eggplant, along with layers of raw fish sandwiched between two slices of bread and then deep fried and topped with sweet chili sauce. I know it just uses ingredients they already have on hand but I really enjoyed the flavor combination and appreciate the novelty of it as well. This is my default spot for sushi lunch since it is close by and quality is decent. It is not the best but it is the best in the area. I have tried other places in the area and found the fish to be a bit fishy but so far, I have only had one bad experience at ninja. It clearly did not stop me from going back. read more

This was based off takeout through seamless. Less than pleased with the quality of the food here. The shrimp tempura and chicken tempura were incredibly disproportionate of batter vs protein. It was so dried out, it was felt like dried meats. Their dynamite was sadly disgusting. Its runny ooze of mayo mushroom soup topped with orange cheese. The bagel roll was a terrible attempt with the fish and cream cheese deep fried. Plenty of other places to get good take out sushi on 86th Street read more

My family decided to order takeout from here because of their 10% off online order special. Their party trays are very affordable, especially for NY. However, we found the quality of the fish to be lacking in comparison to the many other sushi locations we have been to. It didn't taste that fresh. This was especially evident with the nigiri sushi pieces. It's difficult to beat these prices, but you get what you pay for. read more

A solid spot for sushi takeout. Ninja 86 is my go-to spot when I'm feeling for quick sushi bites. Their service is quick and always delivers ahead of time. My favorites are the sashimi set and spicy salmon. The sashimi slices are thick and decent quality and comes with a side of soup/salad. You can also customize to have salmon & tuna only. The salmon pieces here are great quality. The spicy salmon roll also has a kick of spice to it, which is nice because other spots tend to be bland! Was craving sushi and saw this place had great lunch special deals. Ordered two 3 rolls lunch specials through Yelp and the order arrived within 35mins. $11 (through Yelp and as of Sept 2021) for 3 rolls with soup AND salad . Most places give only one side with the rolls, but not Ninja 86 Sushi. I ordered the spicy tuna (looked like spicy salmon), spicy yellowtail, eel avocado, shrimp tempura and salmon termpura rolls. All rolls were amazing! Will definitely order from them again! And next time I'll know to order from their website directly after reading the reviews about the 10% off. read more

Brought a platter of sushi here over the weekend and I have to say, I was quite pleased. The service was quick, fast and accommodating and would certainly come back here if I'm looking for a quick fix. I ordered the G Platter and it came out to $46.46 if I paid cash, which I was happy to do so. They also allow me to choose my own classic rolls so that too was a plus and the guy that took my order was very nice. On the downside, they only do take out so no more AYCE for now. I really wish that was offered as I would love to compare them to Sake Sushi which is just down the block. The only reason why they lost their extra star is the taste of the fish. I felt it didn't have enough flavor as I would have wish and tasted a little bland but still good enough nonetheless. read more

Ninja 86 been my go to place ever since Covid started. I realized an increased on the DIY platter. Which I don't mind and is fair. I ordered my usual but, I noticed the quality isn't the same nomore. I thought to myself maybe it was my taste buds a bit off. Gave it a benefit of the doubt. I had placed an order this past week. The rolls falls off easily, the texture of sushi rice was off and not well seasoned. The yellowtail taste different, there's an after taste of . The white tuna was a bit mushy. Not sure, if this place under new management. Watever the case is, I'm not going back anymore. I had found a new place where is worthy my money and don't gotta worry sbt getting sick after eating. read more

After being sick of the sushi spots over on Avenue U (mostly decent, just a little pricier for classic rolls), it's finally time to start trying the plethora of options on 86th Street. Lunch Combo deals are pretty appealing at only $9.75 for three orders of classic rolls as well as 3 other pieces - only downside is it's a set so you can't choose your rolls, but the deals are geared towards some classics so there's bound to be a combo that you love. Review is only for the limited rolls I've tried thus far, but their spicy salmon roll is already superior to the ones on Avenue U. Generous drizzle of spicy mayo on top. I personally also realllly like the shrimp tempura roll as well - really good crunch and balance. The ratio to filling and rice is also spot on - the rice layer is pretty thin and I didn't feel bloated at all However, the non-rolls from Lunch Combo 1 were pretty average in terms of taste. Tried ninja when they first opened and it didn't leave a good impression. Haven't had it since and decided to give them a try again. Sushi was okay, nothing special / stood out. But the miso soup was bland and unfortunately, it didn't reveal itself until the last minute but... there was a staple inside the miso soup. I had a six hours video call from 9am to 3pm. Thus, I knew there was no time to make lunch. I placed an online order on the ninja86 website. During a 10 minutes break, I was able to walk over and pick up my order. The cashier was very nice when he handled my transaction. I was in and out less than 5 minutes. Order delivery for dinner recently and although my brother had told me their quality went downhill, i wanted to give them a try. But man, they really did go downhill. The fish slices are SO paper thin over a thick bed of rice thats overly doused with vinegar. I know sushi rice is supposed to have a hint of vinegar but theyre alittle too much. This is coming from someone who likes sour things too! Aside from the fish slices being paper thin, the shrimp tempura was terrible. Mom said the batter was super thick and the shrimp inside was so hard, she believed they refried an old batch that didnt sell from previous night. Basically we had a terrible dinner. Not sure what happened to Ninja 86 but that night was the last night we will be having sushi from there. Time to find another spot. So sad to see this happen, it was one of our gotos for sushi. read more

Didn't notice this new AYCE sushi spot in the area. Decided to stop by one night when I was craving basic sushi appetizers. For dinner, it's AYCE for $19.95 Limitations: Fresh Oyster (2 pcs pp) Beef Short Ribs (3pcs pp) All sushi bar appetizers (1 order pp) Sea Urchin (2pcs pp) There's a big variety of hot kitchen appetizers such as crab meat ravioli, fried calamari, fried shu mai, beef short ribs, rock shrimp, stir-fry udon, katsu, tempura, mussels, raw oysters etc. I'm always down to get fried shu mai, beef short ribs and the yaki udon. very decent quality for ayce. I'll be taking full advantage of those. The salad and sushi bar appetizers has a good selection as well but they do have a limitation on all sushi bar appetizers. They have a 8 pc. sashimi appetizer. My favorite was the Golden Salmon, which was salmon sashimi wrapped kani salad, topped with mayo. For the fish, they only offer alc sushi pieces, no alc sashimi and a lot of basic rolls and speciality rolls. The specialty rolls I'd like to try was not part of the ayce so I just opted for the basics. The rice to fish ratio is fairly decent for an AYCE spot, like 1.5 to 1. However the sushi rice mixture is inconsistence. My second round of rice was way better my first round. My first round of rice was hard, did not have enough vinegar and cold. read more

Compared to Sake in the same area, this place does not have a wait and isn't noisy. The food is just as good as Sake and they offer buffet for (about?) the same price as Sake. I never NOT run into someone I know that I don't want to see at Sake so Ninja 86 Sushi is perfect. I came here about twice, both times for the sushi buffet. The food is packaged neatly unlike OFC Chicken V, who brought my takoyaki all messed up. What's different about normal takoyaki compared to here would be how they add masago on the top, which is a nice touch aesthetically. I think it's cute that they add some cabbage at the bottom so that the takoyaki's sit perfectly. The curry dip that comes with the Indian pancakes has BITS of chicken in it but it's okay, I wasn't really craving curry chicken/potato. 10/10 would suggest if you are looking for a sushi buffet in Brooklyn. Quit standing in line waiting for a seat at Sake, when you can come here for the same price and taste :) read more

This place has a regular menu and a AYCE menu. Both are EXTREMELY affordable and their food here is delicious. Their AYCE offers so many great options (more than the other AYCE sushi places around here) and I love the food here. Best bang for your buck, especially if you're super hungry. read more

Delivered my food on my porch and didn't call me 94 degree heat. Told me they handed it to someone ( idk who this someone is , it's a building with 4 apartment ). When I tried to resolve this with the sushi spot the person on the phone I assume who's the owner has no phone etiquette told me they assume whoever sitting in front of a building is the family . I'm not sure what is going on but sushi is in the garbage 1 hour of standing in the heat. Won't use this spot or recommend it to anyone. read more

While delivery is on time, some items aren't that good. Numerous times I've ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, hoping that it'll get better. It hasn't. The meat is gummy, for the most part, with lots of inedible pieces that I end up discarding. I'd stick with their sushi. Never had issues with that. Decent prices. read more

Overall its smooth sail from ordering online (http://www.ninja86.com) for 10% then 20 min wait for our food. We order one shrimp tempura ($11ish) and party tray ($44.99). The shrimp is delicious and crispier when hot. The party tray comes with sashimi (salmon, tuna , snappers), sushi (eel roll - this roll is delicious, a MUST, Alaska roll , Salmon, ...). The tray is enough for 2 adults and 2 children. Or 3 adults. This place is everything you need, decent food, decent price and good portions. read more

If I lived here I would be ordering sushi all the time. They have a very extensive menu of special rolls, many combos, and party trays to choose from. Not to mention the prices. I got the sushi dinner with soup and it was only $12 such a good deal. The fish is fresh and tender. I also love the fact that the sushi isn't mainly rice which I find a lot of places do. I also like to get 1 or 2 mackerel sushi and scallop sashimi. Portion for scallop sashimi can be more. I only get it when I really want it. The 3 rolls is also good enough for lunch. My family's go-to sushi takeout! Easy to order using their website (that gives you 10% off every order btw!) and fresh sushi with great party tray and lunch deals. The only reason I took out 1 star is because of some inconsistency I've seen from order to order. Even when I order the same items two days apart, the slices of the fish would be smaller or lower in quality one day and bigger or better quality the next. They currently have no dine-in, take out available only. But I have to say, this place is the BEST and CHEAPEST for party platters/combos. Their sashimi platters are so worth it and so fresh and delicious, unlike Sake where their sashimi is very watery. I HIGHLY recommend their platters as you can get ALL SALMON. I don't know a single place that offers all salmon sashimi for their platters.
