Unfortunately my first experience, will be my last. I got their flier on my door and decided to give them a try. I generally don't get sushi around where I live because I just haven't found a great place, so I thought, maybe I found one. Boy was I wrong. My order came, tri-color sushi and a yellowtail jalapeño appetizer. The tri-color sushi looked absolutely delicious, tasted amazing. The yellowtail appetizer I didn't touch because for some reason they put roe on top of it which they don't say on the menu, but it is what it is. Now here comes the problem...... ......FOOD POISONING. The next morning I was sick as a dog. Thinking back my big mistake was not reading the reviews before ordering. I went back and read them and saw how many people said that fish wasn't fresh. Had I seen that, I would have never ordered. Ordered a bunch of food here to celebrate a birthday and overall, good quality sushi for the establishment. Most of the rolls are standardly good, though I will say that the pad thai was kind of bland, could definitely use some more seasoning there. The standout for me was the Ninja Sandwich though, which was basically avocado and eggplant, along with layers of raw fish sandwiched between two slices of bread and then deep fried and topped with sweet chili sauce. Ordered two 3 rolls lunch specials through Yelp and the order arrived within 35mins. $11 (through Yelp and as of Sept 2021) for 3 rolls with soup AND salad . Most places give only one side with the rolls, but not Ninja 86 Sushi. I ordered the spicy tuna (looked like spicy salmon), spicy yellowtail, eel avocado, shrimp tempura and salmon termpura rolls. Brought a platter of sushi here over the weekend and I have to say, I was quite pleased. The service was quick, fast and accommodating and would certainly come back here if I'm looking for a quick fix. I ordered the G Platter and it came out to $46.46 if I paid cash, which I was happy to do so. They also allow me to choose my own classic rolls so that too was a plus and the guy that took my order was very nice. On the downside, they only do take out so no more AYCE for now. I really wish that was offered as I would love to compare them to Sake Sushi which is just down the block. The only reason why they lost their extra star is the taste of the fish. Order delivery for dinner recently and although my brother had told me their quality went downhill, i wanted to give them a try. But man, they really did go downhill. My favorite was the Golden Salmon, which was salmon sashimi wrapped kani salad, topped with mayo. For the fish, they only offer alc sushi pieces, no alc sashimi and a lot of basic rolls and speciality rolls. The specialty rolls I'd like to try was not part of the ayce so I just opted for the basics. The rice to fish ratio is fairly decent for an AYCE spot, like 1.5 to 1. Compared to Sake in the same area, this place does not have a wait and isn't noisy. The food is just as good as Sake and they offer buffet for (about?) the same price as Sake. I never NOT run into someone I know that I don't want to see at Sake so Ninja 86 Sushi is perfect. I came here about twice, both times for the sushi buffet. The food is packaged neatly unlike OFC Chicken V, who brought my takoyaki all messed up. What's different about normal takoyaki compared to here would be how they add masago on the top, which is a nice touch aesthetically. I think it's cute that they add some cabbage at the bottom so that the takoyaki's sit perfectly. The curry dip that comes with the Indian pancakes has BITS of chicken in it but it's okay, I wasn't really craving curry chicken/potato. 10/10 would suggest if you are looking for a sushi buffet in Brooklyn.
