Now called Longevousjoy Shiawase, the menu has been completely revamped. It's an even bigger menu, with a fusion of Asian cuisines on offer, from Cantonese, Taiwanese, and Singaporean to Japanese and Thai. Dipping their toes in so many different arenas might actually be their detriment because they're going for everything while not excelling in most. I would rather they cut down on some dishes and make sure all are great instead. I absolutely love their Thai fried chicken, which is so affordable (8 pieces for $12), and tastes so crispy on the outside but so moist and flavorful on the inside. It comes with a tangy fish sauce, but you can add different green curry and/or red curry for 50 cents each. I like it best with the fish sauce. However, that's the Thai fried chicken is the only dish I absolutely love from this place. Everything else is very mediocre, which is unfortunate. 6 rolls bento - $15; comes with california roll, spicy tuna roll, lobster salad roll, salmon avocado roll, eel cucumber roll, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken. It's a lot of food for $15, and the sushi actually tastes decent. The kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken are just tiny portions, but the fried chicken are like nuggets and taste really bad. 4/5 Mushroom noodles - $10; It's so rare to find such affordable e-fu noodles but sadly, it tastes nothing like what e-fu noodles should taste like. I wouldn't even know that they're supposed to be e-fu noodles if I just blindly tasted. I would not get this again here. 3/5 Pad see ew beef - $13; Again, like the mushroom noodles, it didn't taste like pad see ew. It's missing that sweetness and charred factor that's usually present in pad see ew. 3/5 Pad Kra Pao (??) - I can't remember if it's this dish that I got, but it was some type of Thai rice dish with a meat sauce. It was so terrible, I only ate 10% of it and didn't take it to go. 1/5 Pad thai - I didn't try it but my friend got it and the color looked really off. Aside from the food, there are other improvements to be made here. It seems like a family-run restaurant, with only two workers facing the customers. It's really hard to get their attention when the restaurant is busy. The space is very tight and looks like it could be more well-maintained. They also need more menus. Me and my girlfriend got takeout from this place and I am impressed. We got the 12 piece Thai fried chicken, which came with 2 sauces, both flavorful and tasty. The green sauce is slightly spicy but pairs well with the chicken. The chicken is fried to excellence, it's juicy, the crunch is superb and really flavorful. My girlfriend got the sushi combo bento, which came with 6 different rolls/3 pieces per roll, Kani and seaweed salad and 2 pieces of nuggets. I had a love hate relationship with this restaurant before they reopened with their new name and I still have a love hate relationship with this place. Nobody does the lobster (aka crawfish) roll like they do. But I have tried ordering from them through the fan Tuan app several times and it isn't until I get there that they're like oh we currently paused fantuan while we update our menu. It would be great to inform fantuan or temporarily pause it and your customers so that they aren't waiting around. The prices have since went up from when they were longevous joy even though it's the same owners and same location they are now called shiawase. Their 3/4 roll combo are still delicious even though it's no longer a steal. I think it ends up being $16 for 3-4 rolls now and my go to are the spicy scallop and as mentioned before lobster roll! I don't really know what happened to the place. It used to be a really nice chinese/japanese hole in the wall place. Now the quality of food has gone down, the materials used for dishware and utensils are all plastic and paper. Service is alright. Food is really a hit or miss. I live a couple blocks away and ordered from here for many many years...but man this place has never been the same since the pandemic hit and they changed ownership. I know things are more expensive nowadays but holy shit did they raise their prices. Not even worth what you pay. My biggest pet peeve is when places RAISE prices and give you LESS food. Don't even dare ordering two gyudons because they will give you ONE portion of beef and split it between two orders. You literally get 3 slices of fatty beef per bowl. And it's worse if you order take out. You get charged $3 for delivery fee on top of the food and tip. I ordered two gyudons and my total was like $35. Outrageous and not even worth it because you're just getting a shit ton of rice with almost no beef on top. Their katsu curry used to be BOMB. But since they changed ownership they decided to use the shittiest pork cuts to fry as katsu. It's mostly fat and the texture is soft as if it's gone bad. It has no bite to it at all, like before. It's disgusting. When you order their fries it comes with this wasabi mayo sauce but they're so fucking cheap with it everytime. They put it in a little sauce cup/container but they only fill it up 30% of the way. NOT EVEN HALF. After a couple fries the sauce is gone. Before the pandemic I said to myself it'd be a shame if this place ever closed, but now post pandemic, my thoughts have changed. I couldn't care less if this placed eventually closed because the quality here has dropped and hit rock bottom. They're a scam. Admittedly my go-to spot for sushi in Brooklyn, or in NYC overall, for that matter. The sushi is very good quality, especially at its current price point. My favorite set to get is the Edo Omakase One which comes with toro, torched toro, uni, scallop, and several other types of pieces that you would often find in $50+ omakase sets in NYC. However, the Edo Omakase One has 35 pieces of sushi overall at only $60, which can feed ~3 people. What I've found in NYC is that usually either you pay $ for sushi at cheaper restaurants which generally only serve lower-quality cuts, or $$$$ for high quality pieces and expensive cuts of fish. The good things out of the way first; the food I like. Their pork katsu is juicy and better tasting than katsu at Samurai Sushi. The prices are also very affordable. However, I've found that some of the employees are not unprofessional. When I called to pick up, they don't tell you the amount for the food and don't ask for your name. Their menu is also confusing because it's packed with a ton of things, so when I tried to order Chicken Katsu Curry Rice, which I thought was straightforward, the person on the phone went, "green?" and I was like no, I meant the brown kind. They also don't do Pork Katsu Curry Rice for some reason, so I just get Pork Katsu as an appetizer and cook my own rice and veggies at home. Inside the restaurant, no social distancing here. The entrance of the restaurant is really small, and all the customers just pack inside to wait. Because it's so tiny, there's no way to separate people who are picking up from those waiting to order. Phoned in my order and was given a number for pickup. Ordering was fast and easy. Delivery is also an option. I ordered my usual Soy Sauce Stir Fried Noodles. The noodles was delicious with a dried sautéed "wok" flavor complemented with bean spouts, green onions, chives, and other shredded vegs. I also decided to try the Salty Fish Chicken Curry Fried Rice which was a change from the un-curried ones from other restaurants. The rice was also good; a welcomed change from my usual.
