Soy-garlic chicken wings had fantastic flavor, the perfect amount of sauce (not overly saucy and dripping like American-style wings, but still fully coated), and the most delightfully crispy skin and batter. Unfortunately the chicken itself was a bit dry and likely overcooked. I was also surprised to see the store completely empty on a Sunday at noon, but there's plenty of indoor seating.
They have a small menu but there are a lot of options. They offer combo bowls , burritos, different types of chicken and sides. I will provide link to menu. 3 of us had bowls ( think poke bowls ). of us had the crispy chicken bowls. I asked for a different sauce in mine. It comes with a honey bbq sauce , I asked for teriyaki sauce. 1 of us had the chicken teriyaki bowl. My husband had the kimchi quesadilla. From the bar I ordered a soju orange cream drink which tasted so good. We also ordered the cider ale they had on tap which was also really good. The service was ok but all our food did not come out together. 2 bowls were served then we waited I would say between 5-7 minutes for the other 2 dishes. It was nice and clean as was the bathroom. They had a quite a few TVs up playing sports. The atmosphere was warm with wooden decor. Seating was comfortable and they had a downstairs area as well. Ordered the bulgogi bowl for takeout and it exceeded my expectations! The bowl had a perfect runny yolk and the flavors were bursting. The bowl is also huge so you're definitely getting your money's worth!
It wasn't very busy for a Friday night, but I don't know why because the food was pretty good! We loved the soy garlic chicken and it stayed crispy for our entire meal. We ordered the large combo and there was so much food. The rice cakes were ok. I would want to try the other dishes, but I can definitely see myself coming back!
Bar style restaurant, plentiful of seatings, many anime and Japanese themed decorations! They weren't ready to open by 3PM like Yelp listed but I gave them a call and they informed that it'll be another 10 mins before they do. Service was quick and we were the first customers when they open that day. It was quite hot that day so we got some cold drinks, peach lemonade and mango iced tea. The lemonade was not good, probably used Minute Maid. The iced tea was aight, not much mango flavor but it was better than the lemonade. Both comes with a lemon wedge, which helped to brighten up the drinks. For appetizer, we got the kimchi fries, it's so damn good. The fries are fresh out of the fryer, with tons of kimchis, scallions, red onions, and spicy mayo on top. Bomb dot com. As for chicken, we got the 20 soy garlic wings(for 2 people), can't go wrong with that flavor, but try the half&half soy garlic and spicy combo if you'd like some heat. It'll get you sweating but you will be going back for more. Comes with a side of pickled radish to cleanse the palate. The wings are fresh out of the fryer as well, super well seasoned and not dry inside. This is my 3rd time coming to this location for MFC, hits the spot every single time, one of my favorites of all-time!
Best korean fried chicken I've had in the area. We've ordered their 30 pcs wings twice for delivery/pick up already and they're always deliciously crispy and juicy. When our Uber Eats driver arrived though he said it took so long that he almost wanted to cancel. Just a heads up for delivery orders.
In response to the owner, I've eaten at many Korean chicken locations. Pelicana being my favorite. Owners can't accept criticism where it's due. That shows a lot about your character. Don't tell me I don't know the difference. American chicken is not what I was aiming for, Korean flavor fried chicken is what I was aiming for. Pelicana remains my favorite. The food here is amazing and the service is excellent. It's a Korean fusion spot and the fried chicken is great. Both boneless and bone in are delicious, and it comes with Korean radish. The tteokbokki is solid and the drinks are good. They also have a daily happy hour special!
I really love their chicken. I ordered for delivery I got 20 chicken wings, some Parmesan fries, and a Bulgogi beef over rice. Delivery fees tax tip this cost me $93. I'm not sure if it's worth it. I definitely love mad for chicken and I will definitely go to the restaurant, but I will never get delivery again.
This place is the damn deal! I was exploring Williamsburg when my Twitter feed started blowing up with #nationalfriedchickenday. Well, of course I had to get a good reel in! I opened up the Yelp app and googled fried chicken near me. Lo and behold this place popped up! The storefront is unassuming. Tinted plate glass with wooden signage. The immediate interior is one large room with a couple of large picnic tables out of an Eddie Bauer catalog and a few smaller tables beyond that. Temperature check! Just over 97. Where're the extra points as my Caribbean mother would say? A hostess led me to one of the picnic tables nearby. (There were only 2 parties there when I walked in at their own private tables.) I thought it was strange since I was a party of 1. I had a fleeting thought that this was one of those communal dining type of places. Not that I would have minded , but I just wanted a quick in and out. (Like everyone else in Wburg.) I ordered a small mixed combo - 3 drumsticks and 5 wings tossed with soy garlic and spicy soy garlic sauce - and a $3 Narragansett can. The back of the space is a split level. On the lower level is the kitchen and restrooms and the upper level has more seating. BTW it's unisex and very clean. They have both air dryers and paper towels. I waited longer than expected for the food, especially since one of the tables already had theirs. But I guess that really goes to show that everything is made to order, which I appreciated. I must make it a point to mention that the service was excellent. I'll make it a point to go the next time I'm in town! The chicken was delicious! Absolutely delicious. I've had plenty of Korean fried Chicken, BonChon and Krave in CA to name a few, but this was the best I've had so far. There was that extra crunch when you bit into the skin. I don't know... It released the spices and the aroma right away. If the wings weren't screaming hot I would have polished It off in about 5 minutes and probably ordered another set! These guys truly are mad about chicken, and now, so am I.
Not the first time here and I have to say it not as good as it used to be pre pandemic. My daughter loves their Mac n cheese and we both were disappointed in it. The consistency of it was totally off. Super watery lacked in flavor. Fried dumplings were good. We got half hot half mild and if you do not like SPICY do not order the hot ones they will have your mouth on fire . We also ordered the scallion chicken which has been pretty good and it was still good. So they didn't miss on that. Service is terrible. No one came by while/ after we got our food to check on us. Our water was low and not to mention getting warm and until we asked did we get refills and more ice. Place isn't that crowded and pretty quiet. It was a Tuesday evening. And they didn't seem to be that busy inside. But.. I don't think I'll come back to sit inside. If anything I will order the chicken again but to go!! Not worth the tip for mediocre service.
Celebrating with friends in Williamsburg yesterday, the idea came up to visit Mad For Chicken, like in the old days, when we were young. We walked down Grand Street to the restaurant, asked for a table, and received a lovely 4-top right by the windows. First, Yelp check-in to get a round of free lychee soju shots. Complimentary popcorn was served, and swiftly devoured. After brief deliberation, I ordered large wings, sticks and thighs, half and half. (If it's your first time and you want the classic experience, this is what you want.) After munching through a basket of sweet potato fries, the wings showed up. Seeing those big, juicy pieces of chicken stacked on the plate made me so happy. Eating them just made me happier. When only bones remained, I cleaned my sticky fingers, then rinsed my mouth with a pint of IPA. It felt good to be back. Next time, I'm hoping to stay a little longer, maybe try something new from the menu. I'd forgotten how much I like this place. Can't wait to return.

Hands-down the best chicken I've ever had in my life and I'll die on that hill. I had seen this place on social media and wanted to try it. When I visited New York a second time I told my girlfriend we had to go here. We had eaten a lot earlier in the day and I still insisted we come here because we didn't have much time left and I really didn't wanna miss out. The kimchi chicken sandwich was phenomenal, and the wings were out of this world. The sandwich in particular was so saucy which made it overall so flavorful. The wings are exactly what you'd expect and more - perfectly crispy, crunchy, and juicy. Was I full from our earlier meals? Yes. But stopping by here on our last night was the right call. Generally I'm easy to please, but when I went back home and asked my peers from NY what they thought about this place, they agreed that it was definitely good! It's unfortunate this location closed down but I'm glad there's still other locations that are open. I just hope they're still conveniently located when I plan my next trip. I literally don't stop thinking about this place when it comes to chicken, their name really fits! read more

I think owners are a Korean wife + white husband duo, which would explain the menu options (korean fried chicken + seafood boil). Not sure if it's true for just this location or the entire franchise. Solid fried chicken + fries whose crispiness stays for your trip home (at lease a 30 min commute). Tip: order sauce on the side so you have plain + sauced wings. I had the bulgogi bowl along with a soju drink from the drink menu and it was really yummy. They give good portions of food. Service was good and quick. Mad for chicken brings back college memories . It's always been one of my favorite places to grab a pitcher of beer and order a bunch of wings and drumsticks over some great conversations and challenging each other to see who can eat the most spicy chicken. We've definitely gone mad when it comes to this place. We were so glad to just walk pass a mad for chicken for me to relive the good old days. What's even better was the happy hour everyday 4-7 pm and a free shot from checkin in through Yelp. The chicken was just the same, same flavor, same crunchiness. read more

So I actually googled this place because I wanted to try a new wing place. I was not disappointed, the fried chicken was sooo good, fresh and hot. Had the right seasoning on it. We also had the traditional bone in wings which were also good! We had the fried dumplings they were ok, a little salty for me but still good. The drinks were also great. Ok so the reason I gave it 4 stars... the service was a little slow... took while for us to get the servers attention to get the check. The ambiance was good and the music was nice as well. I love that mad for chicken is consistently good no matter which location you head to! Do expect to wait a little longer for your food (the chicken takes time fry & they are bombarded with to go orders ). Personal favorites when I go: -Soy garlic chicken wings & drumstick combo -Mac and cheese -truffle fries And don't forget to check in for a free lychee soju shot! read more

My go to place for korean fried chicken. The chicken is always perfectly friend with cripsy skin and juicy chicken. I ordered the large combo (8 drums and 15 wings). We got half and half but I prefer spicy because I think the flavor is better. We also had the mad nachos which were pretty good but I wish there were more jalapenos so we could eat one with every bite. We also checked in for free lychee soju shots read more
I had a serious hankering for some KFC and I remembered Mad for Chicken in Queens always satisfied it. I saw there was a Billyburg location and I was worried the hipsters may have "affected" the flavors, but I had hope. So, I took a chance and Doordash'ed a small, half & half, breast strips and white rice with a side of ranch. I'm so glad I did because it arrived hot, fresh and absolutely delicious! With all the fees, gratuity and such it was about the same price as dining in. The flavor is the same as when you go in person! I noticed the pieces are a bit smaller than they used to be, but they are still as flavorful and crisp as ever! The rice is well steamed, traditional rice.... I wish I had some steamed bok choy or funghi toss over it. I'm so glad I have the "Madness" within reach! read more
I love love love this place! I think my favorite type of wings are now soy garlic wings from Mad for Chicken. The truffle fries are soooooo goood. The dumplings are pretty good too. The mac and cheese was pretty alright too. My friends and I love this place and we have nothing bad to say about it. read more
Food: 4/5 Stopped by for dinner with some friends. I originally tried their location on Northern Blvd and was excited about their new grand opening in Brooklyn. We ordered the wing and drum combo (half and half), kimchi fried rice and nachos. Their known as Mad for Chicken for a reason. Their wings and drums are spectacular. The chicken is made to order. It takes a while to prepare (maybe 20-25 mins) so make sure you order the chicken first. The skin is perfectly fried 2x and the sauce is individually applied to each wing or drum. You can either order soy garlic or spicy soy garlic. I prefer soy garlic because the spicy was a bit too spicy. Delicious nonetheless. Their kimchi fried rice and their nachos was moderate. I've had better fried rice elsewhere. I personally found the rice a bit too sticky and flavorless. I couldn't taste the kimchi. Their nachos were just ok. The actual chips were sort of oily and very thin. The chips broke when you tried to scoop it. Nothing really made it special. Wings: 5/5 Kimchi fried rice: 3/5 Nachos: 2/5 Service: 5/5 The service in here was great. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. Very personable! Ambiance: 4/5 This place is a lot smaller than the other location. I think this location opened maybe a month ago. It's very clean and has a bar/gastropub feel. Most of the Korean fried chicken places in manhattan are subpar because they cook their chicken ahead of time and reheat them. I really missed The Mad for Chicken location that used to be on 5th ave because they cook it from scratch which ensures a juicy+crispy chicken. This did not disappoint. The spicy chicken has a real kick to it and the Mac and cheese was really cheesy and gooey like it should be. The pickled radish and kimchi were also great! The place has ample seating and wasn't too crowded. Definitely worth a trip if you are craving wings. I'll be back for sure when the craving hits. read more

Mad for chicken has become one of those staples in my neighborhood that's never disappointed. At this cross roads of Korean and American comfort food you can find dishes like wings with authentic Korean sauces and kimchi fried rice, to name a few. I've eaten at their location a few times as well. It's a large, comfortable area that slightly reminiscent of a more well kept sports bar that allows for large groups of friends to gather where you can actually hear each other speak. On my most recent occasion I got an order of their spicy boneless wings to go. These never disappoint and always leave me wanting more later in the week. I'd definitely check this spot out if you're in the area. read more

The kimchi fries were to die for!! Perfect combination of crunch on the outside, soft potato goodness inside, topped with kimchi, diced onions, and scallions. Our server gave us a free lychee shot for checking in. This is my new go-to wing spot. The chicken wings were perfect, we had the half and half wings and drumsticks combo. Both the soy garlic and the spicy garlic were so delicious. The coating was crispy, each bite into the chicken was a burst of flavor. You need to try the wings and kimchi fries here. read more
I was having a very bad case of the Monday blues which was instantly cured when we dropped by Mad for Chicken in Williamsburg for a quick bite. We dined in and we really enjoyed our experience; the vibe was wavy and the service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the avocado salad, which was refreshing and delicious and paired splendidly with the savory vinaigrette. We also tried the truffle fries which came with ketchup and spicy Mayo and were perfectly fried into an airy, crunchy goodness that all fries should aspire to be. The wings were the star of the show: they were fried to perfection with a glorious crispy exterior and that juicy tender meat on the interior that you always crave in a great fried chicken. The food here was excellent in terms of taste and quality and that really shined through in all of the dishes we tried. I love supporting local businesses and I hope they keep up the momentum. This is a wonderful restaurant and I feel so lucky to have found another hidden gem in our favorite neighborhood in NYC. I will be back soon, hungry for more! read more
After years of coming to New York and living here over a year, I've finally found my go to Korean fried chicken place! Love this place so much, it was our honorable first NYC indoor dining experience since COVID started. They've taken the best precautions for both dine in and to-go order. When we asked to be seated inside, they had our temperature taken from a thermometer on a wall and fill out a form (y'know COVID things). They weren't packed with indoor dining but had ample seating even at 25% capacity. Definitely had to stick to beer and got $5 Hite's (wow such reasonably pricing) and even saw they had soju for $10/bottle which was a great price compared to other places. Just had our typical order of large wings in half spicy/half soy garlic. Mad for Chicken's the only place where I've found has perfect glassy skin even with the sauce on them. The spicy garlic had a nice kick to it without being over bearing and maintaining a good flavor and has been the best balance of crunch and sauciness to all the KFC places around. read more

Are there good gluten free options?
Yes we do. Our Buffalo wings are Gluten free as well as our salads, you can add grilled chicken also to the salads. Sweet potato fries and kimchi fried rice without the sauce would be gluten free too.
