I have not been here in years but stopped by today and it was as good as I remembered it to be! Our server was friendly and quick!

Not my favorite sushi spot, but not that bad. Shrimps tempura were good though. The service is good, sushi could be better. Regular place with regular prices

I ordered through Doordash right when they opened and food was ready within 30 minutes. We got their 3 roll lunch special and it comes with a salad and a soup. The ingredients are fresh and the rolls are good! Its a great place for lunch! The place has many tables available for dine in as well! The staff aren't very attentive in my opinion. I came in and wasn't greeted for some time. The lady who gave me my order was friendly though! I'd recommend this place if you're looking to satisfy your sushi cravings!

I used to love Chikurin, so I ordered some tonight via Ubereat. The food delivered way after the estimate arrive time (more than half hr delay), called the restaurant couple times no one pick up. Finally after the 4th tried, the staff said the delivery was out, then 15 mins later I called again, same answer, it is on the way. Finally after 45 mins after the estimate arrival time, my food is here. Order at 8pm, didn't arrive until 9:45pm. While I am eating, a big bone hide at the yellowtail roll, glad that I didn't swallow it and kids didn't eat that! Then a big raw fish skin on my chirashi.... Hm... never again. There's a lot of different sushi places around the area, Chikurin isn't the only one but definitely one of the worse one.

Friday dinner Came here after Wasabi across the street had a 40 min wait. There was no wait here, or should I say there were no customers. A couple was sitting in there when we arrived and left soon after, meaning we were the only ones there. They had a handful of takeout orders so not completely no business. This place doesn't necessarily have anything "bad" but there's nothing much "good" about it. It's very 86th street. I would rather eat at Wasabi. We ordered (right to left, top to bottom in my pic): dragon, Hawaii, white Russian, Brooklyn, spider Favorite was the white Russian maybe because the tuna on top was torched. The menu didn't note that. Least favorite was either the Brooklyn or Hawaii. General comment on all of them is that they skimp on ingredients. My photo doesn't show their cross section but basically the ingredients are not well balanced on the insides. The seafood is always the least represented ingredient. If you look at the Brooklyn roll (shrimp, kani, tempura crunch), the insides are 80% tempura crunch, 10% shrimp, and 10% kani. The spider roll should be a whole soft shell crab fried and rolled in. The batter was twice the thickness of the crab. I miss the way Wasabi has thick crab meat and it comes out piping hot. Another general comment that I find is an issue across all Brooklyn sushi places is that the rice isn't tart at all. It didn't come out hot but at least it wasn't dry and hard. I like how their menu has pictures of all rolls, but most didn't appeal to us for some reason. Wasabi's presentation is much better. I also like how Wasabi's menu would tell you which items are cooked. That's helpful for those who don't want to eat raw fish. Service was good. We were in and out of this place in 30 min. I joked we can go back to Wasabi for sushi part two. The lady was diligent about filling our teacups even though we needed refills two minutes apart from each other. Good that tea was hot. She didn't give us a weird look or anything when we didn't order more food. She also reminded us about the 5% discount if pay by cash. Also all the employees speak canto

We came here for dinner on a Tuesday night around 8pm. The restaurant is pretty small, but the waiters are attentive. The special rolls were delicious, big, and so fresh! We also LOVED the spicy salmon sushi pizza. Definitely recommend coming here for fres

My favorite go to for sushi! Indoor or takeout. I've been coming to Chikurin for like a decade now I think. Since I was in high school. A friend of mine lives near here so we always ate here for the lunch special. Anyway, I haven't been back for maybe a year or two, and recently visited this year. The location moved! It is now on a corner instead. Very green decor. Same waiter! Food is delicious as always. Fresh and hot, with great flavor and presentation. Portions are great. The bento dinner is massive and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. Really good value so I highly recommend. Overall, the restaurant has a fresh new aesthetic, new location, but same great taste and service. Show them some love and support by either dining in or taking out. They offer indoor dining as well as outdoor seating!! This is my go to sushi place, my one and only gripe is the parking situation! (Not their fault though-- I'm just warning my fellow drivers out there) Bath Beach is terrible for drivers. You've got to have eyes like a hawk to catch parking spots as they get taken up rather quick. Try the side streets or deal with the meters.

Ordered kani but got crab roll
    Mark A.

We ordered Kani roll but they gave us crab roll instead. The sushi rice had zero vinegar smell/seasoning. Everything we asked to substitute they try to charge a dollar more. For example: i want salmon avocado to change cooked salmon avocado; and substitute salad with soup during lunch special. They weren't that stingy about it before but now they look for every opportunity to make money. I used to go there all the time when they were at the old location but since Covid and since they moved to this corner, things went down the hill. One good thing actually, the side salad was pretty fresh with plenty of ginger dressing.

I had the scallop, naruto, sweet potato, ocean and bagel rolls. Sweet potato regular roll is excellent- total surprise & def order again in the future. Ocean roll that was tuna salmon avo mix n dusted w pistachio? Was really good. Bagel roll is deep fried so can't really go wrong w cream cheese salmon encrusted. The scallop roll was jus a bit of scallop w cucumber strips. Chikurin is a great surprise in quality food albeit the phone service leaves much to be desired.

An oldie but a goodie! Been coming here for years and the quality is still the same. Always fresh and never disappoints. Highly recommend the spicy salmon pizza! It's one if my favorite items on their menu. The angel roll is also very good and they're extremely generous with the tobiko. You can't really go wrong with anything you order from here and especially at this price point!

    Sakedon
    Jessica K.

I have been coming to chikurin religiously these past few months to get my fix of sushi. My absolute favorite go-to order is the Sakedon, which is an order of 12 piece salmon sashimi with rice and your choice of soup or salad. Every time I order, the fish is fresh and so tasty! I can't get enough! and the price is just right, around $20 or so. If I can make it for the lunch special, the lunch bento is an amazing deal! It comes with your choice of meat, tempura, and sides. This is also the only place I know that offers both soup and salad with their lunch specials. And you can never go wrong with a two/three roll lunch special. Orders always come out timely and is always ready for me when I call for pickup. Highly recommend this solid sushi restaurant!

Reasonable pricing with good number of options to choose from. Would recommend for casual dinner or takeout when you feel like eating a lot and not worried about plating/aesthetics.

From the start, the menu felt a little overwhelming, but I actually liked how much variety there was. They've got your everyday sashimi, sushi, rolls, and some specials, plus plenty of hot food like bento boxes, noodles and rice dishes. There are even party trays if you're grabbing food for an event. With so many options, there's something for everyone in your group. The fish was fresh overall, though it leaned more mild than that buttery, sweet richness you get from higher grade cuts. The salmon belly was good but not as rich or melty as I hoped. The toro was nicely torched with that perfect buttery flavor. They also had Santa Barbara uni that night, which was solid, just not the most sweet batch I've had. They were already sold out of their Hokkaido uni that evening. We also tried the monkfish liver appetizer, it was mild and clean tasting, though I wished it had more of that rich, creamy depth you sometimes get from good quality ankimo. It came plain, but once I asked for a little ponzu, it helped balance the flavor. The space itself is clean and very bright, with an open layout where you can easily hear other tables, lively but not too loud. Service was friendly and polite, though a bit on the inexperienced side. Everyone was kind and tried their best, just small moments where communication or timing could be smoother. Parking in the area can be tricky depending on the time, but there are plenty of meters and street parking within walking distance.

Dipping their toes in so many different arenas might actually be their detriment because they're going for everything while not excelling in most. I would rather they cut down on some dishes and make sure all are great instead. I absolutely love their Thai fried chicken, which is so affordable (8 pieces for $12), and tastes so crispy on the outside but so moist and flavorful on the inside. It comes with a tangy fish sauce, but you can add different green curry and/or red curry for 50 cents each. I like it best with the fish sauce. However, that's the Thai fried chicken is the only dish I absolutely love from this place. Everything else is very mediocre, which is unfortunate. 6 rolls bento - $15; comes with california roll, spicy tuna roll, lobster salad roll, salmon avocado roll, eel cucumber roll, shrimp tempura, kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken. It's a lot of food for $15, and the sushi actually tastes decent. The kani salad, seaweed salad, and fried chicken are just tiny portions, but the fried chicken are like nuggets and taste really bad. 4/5 Mushroom noodles - $10; It's so rare to find such affordable e-fu noodles but sadly, it tastes nothing like what e-fu noodles should taste like. I wouldn't even know that they're supposed to be e-fu noodles if I just blindly tasted. I would not get this again here. 3/5 Pad see ew beef - $13; Again, like the mushroom noodles, it didn't taste like pad see ew. It's missing that sweetness and charred factor that's usually present in pad see ew. 3/5 Pad Kra Pao (??) - I can't remember if it's this dish that I got, but it was some type of Thai rice dish with a meat sauce. It was so terrible, I only ate 10% of it and didn't take it to go. 1/5 Pad thai - I didn't try it but my friend got it and the color looked really off. Aside from the food, there are other improvements to be made here. It seems like a family-run restaurant, with only two workers facing the customers. It's really hard to get their attention when the restaurant is busy. The space is very tight and looks like it could be more well-maintained. They also need more menus. Hard to share just one with the whole table.
