We have been searching for a Japanese restaurant in our area as a response to the Fall of Tenzan. We were looking for a place that can make beef teriyaki, appetizers, and other kitchen items as well as fresh seafood options. I have a tendency to pinpoint the moment that fish transcends from being sashimi-worthy to being sushi-worthy. I also notice imitation crab stick like a sore thumb. When I first opened the package, I was amazed by the smell of the gyoza. They smelled amazing. I can't eat them, but was told they were great. The Miso Soup was in a generous 16 ounce container. It was delicious and clean. The Beef Teriyaki was great. It wasn't undercooked. It wasn't sweet. It had that great grill taste, like a steak. The bed of veggies underneath had that same great grilled taste, and weren't disproportionately cabbage. The dish wasn't drowning in teriyaki and that made it possible to eat every bite. The Sashimi Deluxe was fabulous. The fish was fresh and the serving was ample. Each type of fish was on a shisho leaf upon a bed of daikon, which was nice. I did find one pinbone and one piece had a bit of membrane that should have been trimmed off. These are totally acceptable compared to being served fishy tasting sashimi. There was ample rice included with the doshes, and soy sauce that was dark and strong in 2 ounce containers. The California roll was the only unremarkable item. Tenzan never added cucumber to their California roll, which was always weird, but the rich thick chunk of ripe avocado made you forget everything else. This one at Sapporo had equal amounts avocado, crab, and cucumber, which makes it so you taste none of them. I'd love a little more ripe avocado, less cucumber, more crab. It will be a little bigger, but I'm willing pay a little more. Tenzan's included roe on the outside, which we love but know is not standard. They have a lunch menu on this printed menu. Tenzan no longer serves lunch menu specials, so I am excited to explore their lunch specials. And they have a Tatsuya Age lunch, which I will obsess over until I get it. read more

Sapporo has always been my go-to sushi meet-up spot with Marilyn R. for several years, but I decided just recently to introduce it to my husband for our weekly Friday "Date Night In". He was absolutely BLOWN away by not only the quality, but the portion sizes as well! We usually order a few rolls and a special roll, so we get our order over $40 to get the free Brooklyn Roll (one of our favorite all time rolls!), but we decided to opt for a bottle of plum wine for $19! How great is that price?! I was so happy they had it available so we could enjoy it with our dinner to make it feel more special. Not too dry and not too sweet - excellent! The rolls we always order: spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna, wasabi roll, salmon roll, tuna roll, and the beauty roll. They are all so yummy and never disappoint! Talk about the most surprisingly filling lunch i've had in a long while! And it was a great value - for just over $13, I had miso soup, spicy tempura shrimp, and a piece of unagi (eel) sushi. We ordered takeout (we picked it up) here over the weekend and it was great. Everything tasted fresh and the prices were pretty reasonable for what I've seen in the area. Surprised by the recent reviews about the raw fish quality but we mostly ordered cooked rolls and cannot speak to all of the raw items. The only raw fish we had was salmon and it was great. We haven't tried any of the cooked entrees but we will next time. We ordered the Winter roll and Wendy rolls, along with some regular rolls (hand rolls and regular). For Father's Day, I ordered a Titanic for 3 ($65.95) and the Sashimi Deluxe ($20.95). Compared to another sushi place I ordered at previously, there is more bang for your buck here. Although they didn't use as fancy as a container, the sushi here was still pretty good! The red tuna was way darker than other places, leaving us to feel concerned at first. Although apparently, it's actually fine (?). Other than that, every other sashimi was pretty good! They gave plenty of rice with their sushi, and I love that it doesn't fall apart. I particularly enjoy the eel and the special avocado roll that came with our Titanic. For the price, I would recommend checking this place out for sushi! read more

This was one of the sushi places I'd bookmarked for nights we wanted to order takeout, but I ended up coming to eat in person. It's a pretty small restaurant and my initial impression was that the food would be subpar due to the tacky decorations and furniture. The expression, "don't judge a book by its cover" comes to mind here. My friend and I were both pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service here. Our server was extremely attentive. She must have stopped by a total of 5-6 times throughout the meal to make sure we were didn't need anything and to refill our drinks. I ordered a yellowtail scallion roll, a Spicy Dragon special roll, and an Alaska roll. I was initially disappointed that they didn't have a lot of my go-to rolls like the Spider Roll or the Snowcrab, but it was good to try new combos as well. They have a lot of interesting special rolls that are priced ~$11-15. Our plates arrived looking like art pieces. The floral decorations and lights they used added an artistic touch to the sushi. We eagerly dug in with exclamations of surprise at how fresh and tasty the rolls were. The Spicy Dragon roll was my favorite. I loved the combo of the BBQ eel paired with the crunchy spicy tuna. The other rolls were amazing as well. Unlike other sushi places, they didn't skimp on the fish and pad up the rolls with rice. Throughout our meal, the manager of the restaurant checked on us as well. I really appreciated the great hospitality. Although Sapporo's ambiance isn't stunning, the quality of the food and the service here compensates. This is a great small business that I'll be supporting again in the future. read more

Food is, as always, delicious and I'm very pleased to see they are consistent in both dinner and customer service over the months I've been coming here. Beautiful presentation for their plates of food and the seating areas were just as aesthetically pleasing as they were comfortable and clean. Waitresses are always genuinely kind, attentive but not overbearing. I still wish there was more parking available! You'll be circling for a bit depending on what time you come here, because street parking is limited. I always go to AYCE sushi places to fill me up and my wallet. But OMG this place is so good with their quality! I never have sashimi salmon that is so soft and melts in your mouth! You wouldn't get that in AYCE sushi places with sashimi. I could tell that the color of the salmon is different from other AYCE sushi places too. I also got the Party Tray A with my friends. It's 8 rolls for $40. The price might be off point, BUT you're paying for the quality! We got fried California roll and they used tempura (bread crumb) to fried, not liquid batter. Came in with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and we were greeted by their super nice owner. I love that they have 2 person booths on one side, so you still get the booth experience without needing 4 people! I had their 2 roll lunch deal (Salmon Avocado + Eel Avocado) and added a Philadelphia roll cause I really wanted one. Food came out in a timely manner and was very good. Used to get California rolls with your order for free and now you have to spend a certain amount. The last time I ordered I called them and told them they gave me the wrong roll. It wasn't wrong it was just different and skimpy and they seemed to have left out some ingredients. No flavor. The fish tasted old and it was slimy. My order was never consistent either - it varied depending on the day you ordered as to how they made it - at least that's what I found. I feel bad giving this review but it is not the same. I enjoyed my first COVID outdoor dining experience at Sapporo, where the staff is friendly, the food is fresh, and everyone seems to be taking virus restrictions seriously (ex. when we went, tables were very far apart). I got Age Tofu and the Dragon Roll (inside: eel and cucumber; outside: avocado, roe, and eel sauce). The Age Tofu was perfectly fried and melt-in-your-mouth tender when I bit in. The cucumber complimented the rich eel in the Dragon Roll, and I loved that there was roe on top. I would absolutely order these items again; however, I'd prefer the roll with less eel sauce. The only thing I couldn't understand was the fake flower and tree decorations on the plates. They were cute, but I hope they get sanitized between customers. read more

They have a tent with plastic barriers to combat the wind with like 3 tables inside but all these tables were taken. There were two other tables on the sidewalk not inside the tent and we ended up sitting at one of those. The staff accommodated us once another party left and allowed us to move to a table inside the tent where it was warmer, and very quickly cleaned the table for us. We ordered sushi, Thai iced tea and the mango shrimp as an appetizer. The mango shrimp was sooo delicious I wish there was more. The sushi was pretty good but I feel like it could've been better. Ordered the Love Boat for 2 (12 pc sushi, 12 pc sashimi, 1 California roll, 1 tuna roll) from Seamless which came earlier than anticipated. They forgot our miso soups but the owner called us to apologize and they would come back with the miso soup which they did! I really appreciated that gesture.
