Beauty Roll, spicy crunchy tuna, sweet potato tempura. Avo cucumber
Melissa M.

Great neighborhood sushi spot in bay ridge. The staff was super attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy with booth in most of the restaurant. The rock shrimp tempura appetizer was one of my fav bites of the night. I also love how the sushi dish came out decorated.

Service was good. Atmosphere was average, very casual. Sushi was pretty good. We ordered 3 rolls, God father, spicy dragon and spicy crab. This was good to feed 2 people. I would come back for a casual meal.

Good lunch specials!

Talk about the most surprisingly filling lunch i've had in a long while! And it was a great value - for just over $13, I had miso soup, spicy tempura shrimp, and a piece of unagi (eel) sushi. It was all so delightful - tasty for my palate and easy on my wallet. Sapporo is an understated little spot that succeeds in satisfying a craving for Japanese cuisine. i wandered (and waddled) in at 9 months pregnant thinking that i'd need several entrees to sate my hunger, and was surprised to find that a mere 3 small courses did the trick. i'm happy to report that the restaurant itself is quite clean and the service was great - very attentive, sweet, and accommodating, especially when it came to my unagi request that wasn't exactly on the menu. i know, i know - but when you're eating for two, you NEED what you need. Despite my rather basic lunch choices, you'll find that the menu is pretty extensive for those who are looking for more expansive offerings like a creative roster of sushi rolls and standard Japanese fare. Overall, i def recommend Sapporo and hope to stop in again soon!

They greet everyone and they check on everyone to make sure they are doing okay. 2- Their food is fresh and delicious! 3- They put time and effort into each dish. Their entree displays are beautiful. 4- They are reasonably priced. 5- The portions are large enough to share. Appetizers Pan fried vegetable gyoza Tuna dumplings Vegetable fried rice with eggs Special Rolls Ocean Roll (10 pieces) Lobster, crabmeat, mango, avocado, roe, crunchy with soy paper - It was amazing! We ordered takeout (we picked it up) here over the weekend and it was great. Everything tasted fresh and the prices were pretty reasonable for what I've seen in the area. Surprised by the recent reviews about the raw fish quality but we mostly ordered cooked rolls and cannot speak to all of the raw items. The only raw fish we had was salmon and it was great. We haven't tried any of the cooked entrees but we will next time. We ordered the Winter roll and Wendy rolls, along with some regular rolls (hand rolls and regular). Got a Brooklyn roll for free since we spent $45 which was a nice surprise.

Titanic for 3 & Sashimi Deluxe
Sandy D.

For Father's Day, I ordered a Titanic for 3 ($65.95) and the Sashimi Deluxe ($20.95). Compared to another sushi place I ordered at previously, there is more bang for your buck here. Although they didn't use as fancy as a container, the sushi here was still pretty good! The red tuna was way darker than other places, leaving us to feel concerned at first. Although apparently, it's actually fine (?). Other than that, every other sashimi was pretty good! They gave plenty of rice with their sushi, and I love that it doesn't fall apart. I particularly enjoy the eel and the special avocado roll that came with our Titanic. For the price, I would recommend checking this place out for sushi!

beef Teriyaki
Rose P.

We have been searching for a Japanese restaurant in our area as a response to the Fall of Tenzan. We were looking for a place that can make beef teriyaki, appetizers, and other kitchen items as well as fresh seafood options. I have a tendency to pinpoint the moment that fish transcends from being sashimi-worthy to being sushi-worthy. I also notice imitation crab stick like a sore thumb. When I first opened the package, I was amazed by the smell of the gyoza. They smelled amazing. I can't eat them, but was told they were great. The Miso Soup was in a generous 16 ounce container. It was delicious and clean. The Beef Teriyaki was great. It wasn't undercooked. It wasn't sweet. It had that great grill taste, like a steak. The bed of veggies underneath had that same great grilled taste, and weren't disproportionately cabbage. The dish wasn't drowning in teriyaki and that made it possible to eat every bite. The Sashimi Deluxe was fabulous. The fish was fresh and the serving was ample. Each type of fish was on a shisho leaf upon a bed of daikon, which was nice. I did find one pinbone and one piece had a bit of membrane that should have been trimmed off. These are totally acceptable compared to being served fishy tasting sashimi. There was ample rice included with the doshes, and soy sauce that was dark and strong in 2 ounce containers. The California roll was the only unremarkable item. Tenzan never added cucumber to their California roll, which was always weird, but the rich thick chunk of ripe avocado made you forget everything else. This one at Sapporo had equal amounts avocado, crab, and cucumber, which makes it so you taste none of them. I'd love a little more ripe avocado, less cucumber, more crab. It will be a little bigger, but I'm willing pay a little more. Tenzan's included roe on the outside, which we love but know is not standard. They have a lunch menu on this printed menu. Tenzan no longer serves lunch menu specials, so I am excited to explore their lunch specials. And they have a Tatsuya Age lunch, which I will obsess over until I get it.

3 Roll Maki Sushi Lunch plus Spicy Salmon Hand Roll

I was originally attracted to this place because of its high reviews and outdoor seating. I'm so glad I came! The sushi itself was so fresh and delicious. And then for it come out with such amazing decorative presentation, it was very impressive. It was nice to see the effort they put into it. Every little bit counts in these wild times we live in. I sat outside - they have about 4 outdoor tables. I highly recommend you dine here if you get a chance.

The food... -waygu steak : cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Huge fan of the mushooms that accompanied the steak and could of easily been a dish in itself -shrimp tempura roll was decent but nothing mind blowing. -miso ceasar salad was savory and creamy. Everything you want in an exceptional salad. -karrage fried chicken PERFECTION, we ordered another for the table. I wanted to lick the spicy mayo out of the bowl but didn't want to embarrass myself. -koruto cheesecake served with black sesame ice cream, the combo was heavenly. Cheesecake wasn't too sweet with the semi savory sesame ice cream was the perfect bite. Had a few drinks -A5 which had a waygu infused bourbon miso almond and blue cheese. Savory with a hint of sweetness and went down smoothing -fujiko Martini...think of Coquito but elevated with a hint of coffee. If you havent already pulled up to this neighborhood gem do so NEOW.

Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

This fit the bill exactly. We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.

Lots of people came in and out for takeout orders so that seems to be more of the target audience. Service was quick and polite, we were there until 9:30 and they definitely seemed ready for us to be out of there before the 10PM closing time. As for the specialty rolls, there were some pretty creative options - don't shy away from seemingly odd combinations because the flavors really do work well together. I appreciated the rice:fish ratio on all the rolls, the rice was a thin layer letting the flavor of the other ingredients really come through. The plain spicy tuna roll on the other hand was filled with spicy tuna mixed with something crunchy - maybe puffed rice? It seemed to be an unnecessary filler, I would have preferred just fish. I enjoyed the Lovers Dream and Golden Sunset roll the most. While I was debating it while ordering, in hindsight I would definitely get two rolls per person, maybe more if you're really hungry.
