I was SO pleasantly surprised by this place. I came here expecting decent sushi at a fair price but and while the price was what i expected, the sushi was MUCH better. This has been out go-to spot for some time now as Andreas is the absolute best and we will follow him wherever he goes! Our first dining experience with our new baby was here with him, Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays and Just any day really! When we dine in, we usually like to order sashimi like salmon belly, yellowtail belly, sweet shrimp, mackerel, scallop and special rolls. It is always beautifully presented by the sushi chefs. We also get appetizers such as shumai, garlic shrimp, and I've recently tried the crispy duck roll which I'm a total fan now! I've also had the vegetable udon which is yummy and we've had many of their desserts including the green tea and red bean ice creams, their matcha green tea and ube cheesecakes (which we found out they can no longer get...), a cappuccino dessert and a bunch of others. It's always such a nice time because we're visiting a friend. The staff is also very nice and welcoming. Since having a baby, we need extra room for the stroller and stuff and accommodations are always made and we're always comfortable. They also have individual restrooms and a party room downstairs if you are looking for space for a larger group. Parking can be crazy around Kings Highway, but it's always worth it for us. I was nervous about this place because my boyfriend chose it and he doesn't really look at the reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised when I got my food. Not too bad! My main critique is that I ordered a Kani Salad and there seemed to be more cucumber than kani. I was used to a kani salad that was equal parts kani (imitation crab) and salad. There were other reviews I saw that said that it was too dry and didn't have enough sauce/dressing but I thought it was fine in that aspect. Just needed more kani. My boyfriend got the volcano roll. I've never tried it before but the description seemed promising. When it arrived, I thought it looked so unlike traditional sushi that I didn't think I'd like it, but it was really good! It was a cooked sushi, the rice on the outside seemed to be pan fried, which gave a really nice texture, and the inside was a very flavorful spicy, cooked, fish (I think it was eel?). I'd actually recommend this to someone who doesn't like traditional sushi. I also ordered the sushi love boat for two because I was really craving sashimi and this definitely satisfied my craving. Fish tasted good, but I thought the tuna tasted a bit bloody. I don't know if I would order this again, but I wouldn't say no if it was given to me. And it was the perfect meal for a snow day. It also came with an ube condensed cream smear on the plate that tasted sooo good. The chocolate sauce paired so well with the matcha green tea cheesecake, I wish there was a bit more of the chocolate sauce though. The matcha taste is not mild and pretty distinct. However, it isn't bitter or too intense so it's a safe option for people who are still unsure of matcha. I absolutely loved both flavors. Lets talk about this restaurant. I have ordered from this restaurant a million times via UberEats. Today, I did the same. I ordered for pickup. I went there with my toddler and my baby in the rain. The fat boy told me that I, an already paid customer, couldn't sit with my two kids and eat. I told him "Huh? I already paid for my food. It's raining." Always ask about the chef specials because they're usually out of this world. They've added some new items to the menu but some favorites include the soft shell crab, shrimp shumai, mussels, scallops and any of the lunch specials.
