I hate leaving reviews like this, but my recent experience at Y&Y Sushi was honestly shocking. My server, Donna, was extremely unpleasant from the moment I walked in. I was the only person dining in the entire restaurant, yet I still felt rushed and unwelcome. Things went downhill quickly when my main dish arrived before my appetizer. I ate my entire meal, and only after I finished did Donna ask if I needed anything else. That's when it became obvious she had completely forgotten my appetizer (gyoza). What made the situation worse was the complete lack of accountability. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the mistake, and no effort to fix it. When you're literally the only customer in the restaurant, there's really no excuse for that level of inattentiveness. I've been here before, which is why this experience was so disappointing. But this visit left such a terrible taste in my mouth that I felt compelled to warn others. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and unfortunately, this experience made me feel like my time and money didn't matter at all. The service was terrible .

Second time in a row, ordering pickup. They do not give me my entire order. This is beyond absurd. I specifically asked is my entire order there, yes, I got home and again missing items. Now I have to wait an hour for them to bring my order. How do you keep messing up. Lost me as a customer. Also just pulled out massive bone out of my yellowtail roll

Checked out this new sushi place for my mother's birthday, only a short walk from Kings Plaza so perfect for dinner after shopping. It was quiet but had a steady turnover of customers. Appreciated how friendly the staff was and they were able to accommodate my toddler with a high chair. There are obvious attention to the decor details from the pretty plating to cozy booths and a projector playing serene images of dolphins swimming and flowers on the wall. We ordered the special party tray which came plated on a big wooden boat, the YY special roll and dragon roll, the salmon bento box and a yakisoba. The food was okay, nothing bad but the sushi rice was somewhat cold and the yakisoba was a tad too salty. I ordered fried ice cream at the end, asking if the waitress could write happy birthday on the plate for my mother. She said she will see what she can do and then promptly exceeded expectations, bringing out a slice of delicious crepe cake with a candle in addition to the ice cream and playing the happy birthday song as well as changing the projector to show cute birthday cartoon images on the walls. They also gave us a plate of cut oranges at the end of the meal. I would give the food 4 stars but the awesome service and the cute family friendly decor here rounds up my review to 5 stars. Hope they continue to keep up such great customer care.

The food here was sooo good, and the ambience can't be beat. I especially enjoyed their Salmon Lovers entree, plus the addition of Chow Fun makes this place a great spot for a date. The trippy videos projected on the wall is something that most restaurants have and it is a nice conversation piece. They also gave us a complimentary dessert! It was all so delicious. Well done!

Finally, a Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood! We reserved the back dining area for a family gathering. The space is large enough to fit 30 people so we have space to move around. The menu has your typical Japanese food at a reasonable price (bento box) plus they have seafood boils if you're into that. The service here was great. Abby was attentive and took care of everything. They even gave us some complimentary appetizers as well as desserts. I would recommend giving this place a try. We have to support this local business or else it'll end up like its predecessors in that location.

Got some take out from here to check out how that is. Was pleasantly surprised that I had just as good food through delivery as I did while I at in. I ordered a bento box, with chicken katsu. Everything it came with was great. Liked the fried dumplings and the shrimp tempura especially. I also ordered some sushi pieces just to check out the quality of the fish on a few other things. I got shrimp, yellowtail, tuna and white tuna. The tuna sushi piece was the best by far with the white tuna piece a close second. Still super excited this place opened in the neighborhood & I can't wait to come back!

The staff here are incredibly friendly and kind, helping us with our accommodations and helpful recommendations for my pregnant wife. The ambiance is also quite unique, with various projector screens displaying moving images to provide a calm and relaxing dining experience! The miso soup is your typical miso soup so can't go wrong with that. The salad comes with a flavorful mayo-based dressing and comes with a mixture of greens and veggies! The Kani salad was tasty as well and comes with just enough dressing and crunchy flakes to add a nice crunchy contrast. The jalapeño cream cheese and crab bomb is an off-menu specialty and tasted so good with a playful contrast of creamy, spicy, and savory, highly recommended! Oysters were fresh, meaty, and not overly briny. The sashimi a la carte we ordered were all fresh and reasonably priced! The salmon and mixed vegetable tempura was delicious, where the Panko breading was very light and not oily at all! Our steak and salmon bento set was bittersweet, where the California roll pieces, tempura, and dumplings were all delicious! However, the steak and salmon were too dry for our liking. Our waitress was sweet and really appreciated our opinion regarding the bento sets, which is what any good restaurant would do so they can continue to strive for the very best! We loved their openness and friendliness, and we definitely will come back to try the rest of their menu, for there's such a wide variety! Thank you Sophia, for the amazing service! Thank you so much for reading and please give them a try if you're craving some good quality Japanese food! (:

Wow, what a great new restaurant! We came here on a Thursday night and had the best time. We were greeted very warmly from the waitress. We started off our meal with some hot sake. Followed by some sashimi Gyoza and an octopus appetizer. Everything was very good and fresh. They ended up bringing out complementary lobster, which was delicious, as well as some type of lobster salad on top of a chip. This was very nice of them to do that and possibly part of their grand opening special. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, and everything we ate was fresh and well-made. They even brought out a complementary cheesecake dessert, which was pretty good, and we also got an order of fried ice cream. The bill was very cheap for everything that we got and I will definitely be coming back to the sushi restaurant!

chicken yaki soba and american dream roll (I had already eaten 2-3 pieces)

Amazing. I was so happy because I was having a hard time finding a sushi place that was not kosher so they'd have shrimp. I don't like raw fish or most fish, honestly... but I do LOVE rolls that have crab (kani) and shrimp. I had a promo through UberEats and finding nothing but 5-star reviews and seeing a ton of pictures of the interior, decided to give it a try. I ordered the gyoza, chicken yaki soba, and the American Dream Roll. Gyoza: Utter. perfection. I've tried a number of places looking for good gyoza. Usually either the outside was too chewy or not crispy enough (I order it fried) or the filling texture was off/seemingly under-cooked. I honestly had started to give up on finding a good one. I chose to try though, and I'm so glad I did. They looked amazing (so much that I ate them all before I remembered to take the picture), texture was perfect, the sauce was amazing, and I gobbled them up so fast I was mad at myself for not getting two. Chicken yaki soba: Just needs some soy sauce and red pepper flakes (personal preferences) and then it is perfect. Saved this for later to eat fully because honestly I was full. American Dream Roll: So this is made up of tempura shrimp, avocado and spicy kani on top. I asked them to add in cucumber in the special instructions, which I'm always wary about as sometimes some places ignore them. Not them!! I was very happy to pull the roll out and immediately see cucumber in it and I wasn't even charged extra. Fantastic. Added the wasabi to the soy and I was so, so happy. Very generous with the shrimp tempura too. I will definitely be ordering again from them, and I could probably live off that gyoza honestly.

We cane in with 30 minutes til closing and man we were positively surprised. Not only did they have a beautifully decorated entrance, but their sushi plating was breath-taking and it really didn't take us long to get our food (mad it took was like 8 minutes). Staff is super polite and friendly; they even asked US if it was okay that they close at 10. Also the projections throughout the establishment really added to the environment. 10/10

I found my new sushi spot in Brooklyn!! Came here for the first time and was greeted with warm and friendly hellos. The decor is beautiful and far from your typical "sushi restaurant." They have a sushi ferris wheel! The place was immaculate and their bathroom was very clean. We mostly had their sushi rolls and spicy kani salad which was delicious. The rolls we ordered were: spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, salmon tempura, mango avocado roll, New York roll, Hendrickson roll and Volcano roll. All the rolls were delicious and fresh. My favorite was the New York roll. To top it off, we received our rolls on a boat which took the presentation to the top! We also received complimentary appetizer and dessert which was so tasty. My sushi craving was beyond satisfied and will definitely come back here for more. I would love to try their seafood broils for next time. The service was top notch and the prices are super affordable and fair. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant and would love to continue supporting their business! P.S. they serve bubble tea and their taro bubble tea was so good.

My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. Got brunch here on a Sunday with a friend. We split the Hot Honey Gem Salad and Hottokeki (Japanese…read moresoufflé pancake). The pancake is gigantic and is absolutely meant to be shared. It was really fluffy and smelled soooo good (reminiscent of the HK street cart waffles). But because it's so big, by the time we ate half of it, we were getting a little tired of the same taste. The salad was good but nothing to rave about. For drinks, we tried the Lebowski-San and Kettl Hojicha Kombucha. It was my first time trying a clarified cocktail and it was really unique. I thought there would be more ice cream honestly but I still loved it. The kombucha though was shockingly tasty. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle online once I got home (they're from Kettl, a local distillery in Brooklyn). The venue is really spacious and I actually planned a wedding here in the past. They host a lot of events and there was even a birthday party happening when I ate there. The only downside is the location. The only train that goes there is the G so it's a bit hard to get to. Food: Hot Honey Gem Salad (radish, buckwheat, fennel, yuzu vinaigrette) 9/10 Hottokeki / Japanese Soufflé Pancake (fluffy hotcake, honey maple butter, sesame) 9/10 Add Mini White Sesame Soft Serve (soy milk, sesame oil) 10/10 - I would recommend just getting this on its own instead of the Hottokeki if you're craving just a little dessert. Drinks: Lebowski-San (green tea shochu, pisco, sakura leaf, clarified matcha ice cream, cold brew coffee floater) 9/10 - This is a clarified cocktail which I didn't expect. I thought I was ordering a matcha ice cream-like drink so although the drink was good, all the ingredients are very subtle in flavor. Kettl x Unified Ferments 'Hojicha' Kombucha (jou yanagi hojicha) 10/10 - This is an absolute must-try!

Last I was here was for brunch and we sat in the outdoor patio area. We got a two things to share and a main each. Shared plates were the soufflé pancake and silken tofu. Both were a miss for me. The pancake had a baking soda aftertaste and also they brought it out right away instead of after we finished our mains so it sat around in the table for a while until we were ready to eat it. Silken tofu had a mediocre flavor palette. There was no variation in texture either, just one plate of mushy items. We didn't finish either one of those. For a main, I ordered a a Wagyu beef bowl. It was really good but on the smaller side. The service was attentive aside from a spillage when the order came. Then they started placing plates on top of the spill instead of wiping the table. Eventually they cleaned it but overall there was lack of training in this case. I am not dying to come back here but would consider if I'm in the area again. I really like the actual space but food/service can improve.
