This is our family sushi place for YEARS ! Super fresh and modern combinations in all their rolls. We have our favorite rolls like the spider, Brooklyn, and spicy girl. I ordered sushi from this place multiple times because it's that good!! I get it delivered and the food is always still a bit warm. Their prices are also pretty good for the quality. The sushi rice is so tasty and not bland like some places. My absolute favorite classic roll is the eel avocado roll. I get it every single time I get sushi (basically the only place I get sushi from). Another roll that tastes amazing is the spider roll. I would definitely recommend this place because their prices are affordable for both good quality cooked and raw sushi. read more

After losing the (admittedly mediocre and expensive) sushi place around the corner from me on 5th, I stumbled upon Sapporo after coming back from the gym with my boyfriend. It was empty, and an hour before close, so I was worried about the service. We were greeted and placed immediately. Service was fast and efficient. The gyoza was incredible and the dipping sauce was very good. We had some special rolls that were very, very good and worth the money and beautifully plated. I came back to order takeout for lunch. Again, greeted immediately and informed of a buy one special roll get 50% off if you order directly from them. Again, the fish was fresh. This is the best place in Bay Ridge for sushi right now, in my opinion. read more

If I could I would give no stars. I've ordered from here plenty of times and after today I never will again. I ordered 2 iced teas, rock shrimp tempura, edamame & a winter roll. The woman (claims to be named Jennifer) took my order in a rude tone, I thought that was weird but let it slide. When the order was delivered i received both drinks, the shrimp and edamame(in one bag) and did not receive the winter roll($15). We called the restaurant back and let them know the roll was missing. The woman insisted she saw her son pack the sushi and give the delivery man two bags of food. I told her i only received 1. She did not believe me and said she would speak to her delivery man. I get a call back and she's insisting he gave me everything. She was insisting that i were lying and her delivery man was telling the truth. I have security 3 cameras facing different angles of the house. I sent her the video of her delivery man giving us 1 bag. She now claimed that was not her delivery man. How would she have received my money if he wasn't her delivery man? The treatment I was receiving is unbelievable especially since I have been a customer since 2021-2022. The quality of Sapporo has definitely gotten worse, Bay Sushi is better. read more

Always ordered take out and never sat in for the meal. Today happens to be a rare mother and daughter day out and my little one decided she wants sushi. We were close by so this was our first choice. There are lots of Japanese restaurant here in Bay Ridge but nothing extraordinary but this place is great for what it is. Fresh fish, decent menu and the service is very attentive. I had better so the reason for 4 stars is because it is decent but nothing would blow my mind. However this is a great place for this neighborhood, the owner/manager seems to be very eager to please and she makes sure she knows her regulars which is very important in this neighborhood. The freshest sushi I've ever had! Every time I've been here is a hit, never a bad dish. Cooked food is delicious and the speciality rolls are inventive and delicious. The staff and owners are so gracious and accommodating as we often dine there with two young boys. In fact, the owner gave us a red envelope for our new baby! The absolute sweetest! Great time here! The staff is so nice and they allowed me and my wife to sit and enjoy our selves. I love how they didn't rush us out the door. They had very fresh sushi, probably the best sushi in bay ridge brooklyn. They gave generous portions and a good price for everything. PSA I'm Writing this review after moving to bay ridge this past year and trying almost all the sushi places within a mile of my apt - with that said, this place wins by a mile. The fish is ALWAYS fresh which is really the most important factor for me when ordering sushi. They do pack on a lot of rice in the rolls which is not my favorite but it makes my significant other v happy as he often wants more food after we get sushi. With all that said, the best part about this place is their customer service. I've only ever order delivery but it always comes in the stated amount of time or less. This evening the restaurant accidentally forgot one of the rolls and when we called they immediately prepared it, personally dropped it off in the monsooning weather, and gave us 2 mochis as an apology (I wish all individuals apologized like this). This place is hands down my favorite sushi place. It has all the things that are important to me - clean, friendly and good food. In addition, they just added new seating in the front and it makes it a ton better. The manager is the sweetest person in the world and always welcomes us into the place. Came here based on the great reviews and stars this restaurant has on yelp, so I had high expectations. I got their love boat, beautiful presentation but their sashimi and sushi did not taste fresh at all and was very mundane. Was very disappointed and their food is so expensive here for unfresh sushi. First time that my fellow Yelppers totally disappointed me. As a sushi lover that is not too picky, I can say that this is the worst sushi I've ever had. The fish tasted decently fresh but the rice was way too soft and not a good consistency at all. Expected some broken English going into an Asian restaurant which is fine, but we had to ask for soy sauce dishes and given chipped plates. The waitress also gave me the wrong change. They were however definitely apologetic and were happy to fulfill any requests we had. Chicken Teriyaki was made with really dry and thin chicken breast (and I'd take food court chicken teriyaki over Sapporo's any day). Everything else was also unimpressive to say the least.. My friends and I made way to a brand new restaurant that recently opened up; something fusion or other, only to find out they had no liquor license to speak of. We felt incredibly bad but our mission was clear so we left and stumbled upon Sapporo. Immediately we saw the no-shoes-Japanese-style seats on the right side and knew we had to sit there. Its not a big place but it was a weekday night so there was plenty of room. We sat on the comfy pillows and placed our orders. My friend is vegetarian so she was thrilled to see a big selection of rolls she can order. I got my usual. Sapporo, house sake, gyoza, shrimp tempura, eel avocado, california and only paid about $30. I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend of mine. At the first time we ordered delivery and were satisfied so we decide to visit that place in person. It's a cozy, clean and quiet place. They have a bar to eat at, tables and 3 spots that seat you Japanese style. The service was excellent. Waitress was very polite and very helpful with advice on what to order, because we want to try something new. Want to tell few words about Sapporo Roll. It did not seem delicious for me, but combination of flavors is so unusual that I wanted to order another portion. You should definitely try it. This is a nice little place to get a good sushi. Came here to celebrate my birthday with my wife and from the moment we stepped in we were welcomed by the staff who couldn't be anymore helpful , the drinks were perfect in everyway, the sushi was beautifully presented n true work of art , the fish was fresh n carefully selected for top quality . Sapporo has excellent sushi, excellent everything. The family who owns the place is super nice, as are the servers. Even the sushi chefs will say hello and smile if you make an effort to acknowledge the hardworking men who are slicing up your fancy fish, providing you with beautifully arranged platters of maki and sushi. We particularly love the tuna dumplings as an appetizer. They are OMG good. Tuna dumplings at Sapporo are the very definition of a food orgasm. Favorite rolls are Utopia, Tropic, Sapporo, Winter, Paradise, and well, several others. And the honey-wasabi dipping sauce is soooooo good, but you have to ask for it special. The miso is some of the best I've had and the salads are solid as well. Dinners are a good deal. Being partial to sashimi I enjoy any of the sashimi dinners, especially the chirash. And when it comes to green tea ice cream, they have a very good one. And let's not forgot the venerable bubble tea - excellent. It's generally quiet, unless there's a big party in the back or a gaggle of children. Otherwise, laid back, relaxed dining in Bay Ridge. Which by itself is worth the price of admission. read more
