I'm conflicted in my review. I have tried BBQ Chicken in the K-Town location in Manhattan and had a hankering for chicken today and had for a while. I live close by so it was now or never that I drop by to see if this is as good as my prior visits to the original in KTown. I was in the area for an appointment. I ordered the original golden olive bb q chicken meal, just a short 15 minute wait. Staff were efficient in taking orders and explaining the menu. I also ordered Tasocaa's Durian/Mango slush. Got my order and left. My slush was delicious. My meal was underwhelming. Not sure what but it was not what I remembered. The location is quiet, comfortable and cute with a small amount of available seating. As for return visit, conflicted as I'm not sure if today was an off day. Wanted some fried chicken for Christmas. My husband and I knew that Japanese people normally celebrate by eating KFC and Christmas Cake... so we decided to go out and look for some fried chicken. This was on my radar for awhile as people said their Korean fried chicken was really good. We met up with a friend and nabbed a table. Ordered at the kiosk for 20pc fried chicken (boneless) Soy Garlic flavor and some French fries. I order cheese sauce on the side for the fries. It was roughly about 15-20min wait for the order as they make it fresh to order. On Christmas day, it was busy. Many people came in for their boba drinks. We were luckily to nab the last table as there was a large group of folks that walked in shortly after we ordered. We also saw many pickup orders as delivery folks came in. Overall, the chicken was tender and hot. Very hot. We had the options of folks and plastic gloves which we glady appreciate. I was immediately turned off by the lack of customer service at this establishment upon entrance. As we walked up to the counter to grab a menu, I said hi to the employees and no one looked up or bothered to greet us. I tried to brush it off and walked towards the tables to find a seat. The place was empty, but the first two tables were dirty and no one bothered cleaning it. We walked towards the big table in the back as it was the cleanest one and sat down. One of the employees stepped outside and started smoking on the top of the stairs right outside the door. Naturally, the smell of the cigarette came through the gap below the door and filled the store. My friend and I hate the smell of cigarettes so we found it absolutely nauseating. At that point, we no longer wanted to stay at the store so we just ordered our drinks to go. We both ordered the osmanthus oolong tea with asian pear thanks to a recommendation from a friend and luckily it made up for half of our experience at the store. Good for 8th avenue Korean fried chicken. 8th avenue is known as Brooklyn's Chinatown so most of the food is Chinese food. I think it's great that they saw the opportunity to start a Korean fried chicken place in Chinatown, especially when Korean food and culture has been expanding rapidly. This place mostly sells Korean fried chicken as it's one of two shops in Brooklyn 8th avenue (that I know of) that sells Korean fried chicken. They have indoor seating, no outdoor seating. The restaurant next door kicked us out when we sat outside in front of this restaurant saying that it was their space, even though they built it in front of this restaurants and on a parking spot. They only had one other guest sitting outside and there was plenty of room. Sure won't be eating next door. LOL The chicken is nothing like the Korean fried chicken you'd have in Korea towns, but it is pretty good and decently priced for Korean fried chicken in Chinatown. I have no idea how to pronounce their name, so I won't even try. A friend of my parents mentioned that their Korean fried chicken is pretty good, so we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Due to the ongoing pandemic, they were only doing outdoor seating, but we were just getting food to go, so we were inside (all the tables and chairs were stacked up). You could tell most of their business is bubble tea because that's most of what was coming out. They also do a ton of delivery business (more on that later). They only have one food menu on a table by the front, as opposed to multiple drinks menus. You can order all sorts of chicken. Boneless. Bone-in. A whole or half chicken even. If you get a meal, it's only boneless (meh) and it comes with fries and a can of soda. But if you opt for one of their bubble teas instead of the soda, you get $1 off the tea. Still about $4.50 though. Food took a long time, which I guess is good because that means it's made fresh. But during that time, there were a ton of delivery guys rushing in, violating social distance, and just screaming into the kitchen. The kitchen staff bent over backwards to get those orders out first, so that could also be why it took a while. But hey, pandemic, so cut them some slack. Finally got our food and went home. We got the boneless original golden olive meal and the honey garlic bone-in 10 piece. Also, should've mentioned that 10 pieces is the smallest amount you can get outside of the meal, which is a lot of chicken. Both were good. The pieces are smaller than you'd get at some of the other well-known KFC restaurants, but I just take it to mean there's less hormones. Also, the boneless meal we got was supposed to be 6 pieces, but they definitely threw in some extras. The fries, however, were waaay oversalted. That's my only complaint about the food. Also got a taro milk tea with boba. It was pretty good and had broken pieces of taro inside. On the sweet side, but that's to be expected. Definitely a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. The chicken is usually a hit or miss. In my recent take-out order, I found the boneless chicken to be quite dry. The garlic sauce also leaves an unpleasant lingering after taste in your mouth for the entire day! You definitely need to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth after you eat their chicken. On the plus side, the portion size is decent. I have not dined in at this establishment recently but I recall the constant smell of cigarette smoke the few times I've dined in. I felt like I was suffocating a bit and decided to wait by the entrance and noticed it didn't smell as bad by there. My ice grapefruit green tea was very presentable with slices of grapefruit around the cup. For $4.95, it tasted terrible. I didn't taste any grapefruit or green tea whatsoever. I felt as if they just blended ice and sugar and poured it right in. The only hint of grapefruit I got was from squeezing the juice from the fruit with my straw. Halfway through, it went right into the garbage. The wings also looked really delicious but very deceiving. It tasted like they boiled the chicken and coated it with a bunch of flour/corn starch. It did not taste like Korean fried chicken at all. It was a waste of $12.50. I had a terrible experience. Probably wouldn't be returning. My order came out to $19.xx and I can definitely get something better around the area for that price. You can be the judge for yourself and give this place a try. I just finished rewatching Goblin so I was craving some olive chicken. Family and I ordered 20 honey garlic wings, 10 secret spicy chickens, half original golden olive, dduk bokki and a large iced grapefruit green tea. The ddukbokki this time was not as good as the other times I've had it. It was super mushy which made it taste gross. If you're going to order this- be warned, its super spicy. The honey garlic wings are pretty good. I feel like it was a tad too sweet but everyone else loves them. Secret spicy chicken was not spicy at all to me to be honest, I had just eaten the ddukbokki tho so that might be why. The chicken was super juicy and moist. Very good. My favorite was the original golden olive. I usually can't eat too many pieces of kfc because of the grease but these are different. I would trek all the way to ktown to get bbq chicken or bonchon- not knowing that there was one so close to home! We ordered our drinks and decided to also order some fried chicken just to try it out (at this point we still had no idea that it was bbq chicken fried chicken). It arrived and needless to say, we were shocked and pleasantly surprised. We saw that it was from bbq chicken and sampled all the fried chicken we ordered. It was THE bbq chicken (lol). I decided to order a few more times from TSAOCAA to ensure I can write a fair review. I have ordered a total of four times through ubereats and every single time they do not disappoint. I would not say the drinks are AMAZING, but they are not bad for their price point. I have ordered a couple of drinks without adjusting the sweetness levels & to my surprise, it was not too sweet! A good boba is all about a good balance between the tea flavor and sweetness. TSAOCAA has done that. Me and my coworkers didn't feel extremely sluggish and heavy after finishing our bubble teas; unlike all the other places we have ordered. I recommend the cloud mist bubble tea with herbal jelly! The korean fried chicken is also really good. They arrive super crispy and flavorful every time. And same with the bubble tea, I am not left with a greasy sluggish feeling after eating the fried chicken. I would say to stay away from the ddukbokki because it is not like the traditional ddukbokki you would get from a Korean restaurant. Don't bother spending the $10 getting it. Went there my first time because it was recommended by someone. So yeah the food is not bad. Maybe I just don't like chicken as much as most people. Or maybe the wait time killed it. I was in there for about 40 minutes waiting on some chicken. I also had some drinks to be made up front and they were doing that but what was terrible was the girl who was making it. One of her friends stopped by with a young little girl. She left the girl running around but went behind the register where stuff was being made and took of her mask off to talk to her friend. The place is pretty spacious, with two large tables and many smaller tables, and lightening is pretty bright. They have a fried chicken menu and beverage menus. They are always busy. Sometime the place can be loud and cannot hear the staffs calling the order number so you have pay close attention. Their friend chicken is okay but it is not as great to a similar place on 32nd street Manhattan. The good part is the fried chicken is that it is freshly made. However, it does take a long time. I came into TSAôCAA for some boba because my sister has been stopping by on her way home and bringing the cute cups home. I typically go to Earnest Tea or Kung Fu Tea, if I feel like walking. The spot is pretty big and there's lots of seating so if you're looking for somewhere to hang out, I'd recommend them over the other two spots. But honesty, the tea isn't that great. The tapioca is also pretty mediocre. They're kind of ... hard? Staff were pretty unhelpful when I had questions and were downright rude. They just didn't look like they wanted to be there.
