Recently tried the scallion pancake with popcorn chicken along with the steamed shrimp rice roll. The shrimp rice roll was decent--the rice roll itself was soft, fresh, and had a great texture. However, the shrimp didn't taste particularly fresh, which took away from the dish a bit. I also asked for peanut sauce, which many restaurants provide complimentary with rice rolls, but was charged extra for it. Not a huge deal, but it was a bit of a bummer. As for the scallion pancake with popcorn chicken, it was somewhat bland and a bit dry. To be fair, that was somewhat expected, and while I believe there was sauce inside, I couldn't really taste much of it. The portion was reasonable, but the flavor just didn't stand out for me. Overall, the meal wasn't bad, but if I come back in the future, I'd probably stick with the steamed rice rolls and try some of their other offerings instead. read more

Easy and cozy dim-sum spot in Brooklyn, Sunset park :) that spot has been around the neighbor my friend recommended said I should try them out! We Ordered couples for a delivery! It came quickly ;) Shrimp Dumpling Dim Sum was fresh and flavorful! So as Pan fried chive and pork Dumpling that came with two different kind of sauces. the miso? based sauce was new to me for those dumplings. It was a good surprise. We enjoyed them over the nice Thai milk tea! Was definitely hit the spot and loving. Will try more of stuff for sure! read more

I have only ordered delivery from here on a late weekend afternoon. I was craving dimsum but making a late trip out for a dimsum breakfast was not going to happen. I'm glad I found this spot for a dimsum option, food was decent and I would order from them again or check out their store one day. Their menu has a good amount of variety for a cafe, dimsum, buns, pastries, cake, coffee & more! read more

I got a food delivery order from here and it was all nicely packaged individually. There was an array of dim sum options including Pan Fried Dumplings ($5.95), Portuguese Egg Tarts ($3.95), Sui Mai ($5.25), Shrimp Dumpling ($5.25), Pan Fried Turnip Cake ($5.25), Rice Noodle with Fish Ball ($5.25), and Dry Pork Mini Cake ($12.00). Everything was flavorful, juicy and good portions. My favorites are the turnip cake, dumplings, and dry pork cake though, but love the dim sum options here. You can't go wrong, there wasn't anything I didn't like. It was so much food that I was happy to have as leftovers too. read more

We used to order from this place very often, but this time, I will not order from here again, or at least for a while. We were feeling sick, so I ordered congee from this place to sooth our stomachs. However, it tasted sour! It wasn't just 1 pint that was sour, all 3 pints were sour. I'm not sure if it's because we ordered around 3 PM, which was not close to their closing time. However, I am not ordering from this place again! read more

One of my favorite bakeries in sunset park because of the variety of food they offer. I like their egg tart and hot dog buns but also frequently get their dim sum. I highly recommend the pan fried radish cake and the siu mai. Usually everything's very good, but I didn't love their pork buns- it's not the typical filling that people are used to. Service is very quick and you're able to sit inside - there's a few benches, but generally this is a grab and go place. The display for the bread & pastries is aesthetic and they also have a fridge for man tou and other bread read more

Sometimes dreams do come true. A decently priced, classic dim sum place that delivers! Pretty much everything I've tried from here has been at least solid if not top notch. Stand outs are the shumai, any of the rice rolls and the steamed bean curd shrimp and pork wrap. The har gao is also good. I tried some of the steamed buns which were ok and the radish cake had good flavor but wasn't crispy which is understandable for delivery. They also have some great breakfast and lunch sets that I'm excited to try! read more

I discovered this place about two weeks ago and so far I can't seem to stop visiting them. Hands down they make amazing noodle rolls. I've been ordering their dry shrimp with fish ball and cilantro and it's been hitting all the right spot. I also ask for their hoisin/peanut butter sauce and that sauce I'm in heaven. As for the service, they are not as friendly as I would like but I'm not so picky on that since I'm really there for the food. I also wish they would offer a drop off at my car since their service is a bit slow and parking is hard in this neighborhood. I was there and asked if they wouldn't mind handing me my food if I waited in my car outside and they said no. Whomp whomp and oh well. Overall, I would still recommend this place. They definitely know how to roll them delicious noodles and their other food is just as good. As for the store, it does have a few seatings so it's great for people who are looking to dine inside, though no bathroom. The cafe is small but still feels spacious enough to relax and enjoy your food inside. read more

I've been looking for a place like Melonpanna, somewhere that has the super affordable HK breakfast combo that you can find in Elmhurst, Queens, but in Brooklyn! I absolutely love all their breakfast combos, and the best part is that they're served till 4 pm in the afternoon! So an amazingly delicious breakfast or brunch meal until 4 pm. My favorite breakfast combos are combo A and combo C. Combo A is their preserved egg and pork congee with scallion pancakes. The congee is perfect, not too salty, not too watery, perfect. The scallion pancakes are always crispy, but always need soy sauce dipped since it's salted/salty at all. The curry fishball - AMAZING. It tastes exactly like the curry fish ball street food carts. I also had the pork rice noodle which was delicious as well. The pineapple bun, well, tastes like a bakery pineapple bun. Nothing too spectacular. I always get an ice-cold milk tea as well, which I believe is an additional $1.50 or $2.00 which is not bad since milk tea is like $5.00 at a bubble tea place. You're also able to ask for the hot tea to be a hot milk tea, which is no additional charge. I wish more places in the area offered these HK-styled breakfasts! tl;dr - amazingly delicious and affordable HK-styled breakfast combos till 4 PM. read more

I've returned a couple more times to try the dim sum and pastries and some of the options here are pretty great! The Portuguese egg tarts are delightful and the birthday cakes are impressive. My cousin recently ordered a purple yam-flavored Raya and the Last Dragon themed cake for her 5-year old and it was amazing. It was deeeelicious (aka not too sweet, the ultimate Asian compliment) and so aesthetically pleasing. Definitely come here for the pretty cakes. As for dim sum, the safest dishes to get are siu mai and har gow/shrimp dumplings. They get these classics done so right and the siu mai are on the bigger side - they fill you right up. The chicken w/ lotus leaf (sticky rice) is also fairly big, complete with Chinese sausage, egg yolk and bone-in chicken. Very yummy. But unfortunately I'm going to have to move the rice rolls down to a miss. Texture wise they are way too mushy for my liking and the roast pork one didn't seem very fresh at all. I ordered via UberEats yesterday and price wise the dim sum here is a lot more affordable than some other restaurants on the platform. Like I said last time, it's worth it if you know which to get. read more

I stumbled upon Melonpanna while looking for Taiwanese places within delivery range. As it turns out, there are none. This seems much more like a Cantonese/Hong Kong comfort food spot. Their popcorn chicken is tasty and very filling (though I was so thirsty afterward). I didn't like the pan-fried mini pork buns; there were too many miscellaneous gristly bits inside. I also got the scallion pancake wrap with hot dog, and I could not for the life of me have guessed it was a scallion pancake; by the time it arrived, the hoisin sauce had made everything really soggy and messy. They also have cha chan tang-style breakfast sets, and my favorite thing here is the combo C with "curry" fish balls over rice rolls (it's not curry, it's that classic peanut/hoisin mixture, which I'm A-OK with), a pineapple bun, and hot milk tea. The sauce is a bit sweeter than I'd like, but the rice rolls are good. And their pineapple bun arrives wonderfully warm and toasty on the outside and is pretty fluffy, with a pat of butter inside. It's an incredibly filling set for a pretty cheap price. read more

the burger was so Good! I wanted to come back there but I live far away :( but at least the burger was delicious

My favorite order from the menu is the C meal. It comes with curry fish balls with rice noodles, a pineapple bun with butter, and a cup of coffee or tea for $6. It used to be much cheaper, but due to inflation and etc, it is what it is. The rice noodles is the best. I love the softness and the bouncy-ness/ chewiness of the noodle. In addition, I love the peanut butter and sweet soy sauce that they mix the noodles with. I wish they can add more of the sauce to it. Recently, the cups that they use for the drinks are not correctly sized with the lids. So in my recent orders, my coffee and milk teas are spilled. I end up with only a half full cup of milk tea/ coffee. I hope they can fix this issue if not, they might lose customers. read more

Cute nook in Brooklyn, great for locals! A bit of a walk from the train station but close by bus. Interior design is a bit random but they tried. You're not here for insta worthy pics. You're here to get your meal and to enjoy it. Love the breakfast options. You can order the ABCD 123 sets and it comes with a coffee/tea. On top of the sets, I ordered the Portuguese egg tart and it is SO flaky in the best way possible. Melts/crumbles in your mouth. My friend told me about this spot and I decided to check it out since I'm always in the area. I have been here twice and have no complaints. Cute bakery spot with your average Chinese bakery goods and some hot food/dimsum. The staff is really friendly and this place is always clean. Everything is decently priced and the breastfast combos are a steal. The first time I came I ordered three dimsum dishes and they tasted really fresh and better than most restaurants that serves dimsum. The second time I came I had the breakfast combo C for $4.75. It came with fishball rice noodle, pineapple bun with butter and your choice of a coffee or tea. The menu states that this was curry fishball but it tasted like peanut butter sauce to me. The pineapple bun with butter was served room temperature and wished they melted the butter but it was still good regardless. Definitely will be coming back to try the rest of the menu! read more

My sister LOVES her dim sum; though honestly, I couldn't care less. Dim sum's more of a sustenance than anything else imo and I'm certainly not coming here hoping to take some gorgeous pictures (though I'm sure you could). I still have yet to physically walk to Melonpanna, but delivery via Uber Eats is fast and Melonpanna has some solid SOLID food options. Did I mention the prices are decent and the portions are large too? Certainly no major complaints here. ** [ PAN FRIED RADISH CAKE ] | 4.1/5.0 TENDER on the inside, CRISPY and GOLDEN BROWN on the outside--this is a CLASSIC dish at ANY dim sum restaurant. Heads up though, this dish does contain bits and pieces of Chinese sausage, so if you're a vegetarian and/or vegan, DO NOT order this. It's traditionally served with oyster sauce, but one way or another, I NEVER get any oyster sauce with my order. Welp, thank god there's oyster sauce in Asian households :D ** [ STEAMED MINI PORK BUN & PAN FRIED MINI PORK BUN ] | 4.9/5.0 These buns are SOFT and FLUFFY and filled with DELICIOUS pork stuffing. There's more of a bun to stuffing ratio, but that's alright with me. After all, there's NOTHING like a WARM steamed (or pan-fried) bun in the cold winter months! Both are mini pork buns and both come with a total of 6 buns, but the Pan Fried Mini Pork Buns are arguably tastier, as I find the steamed buns drier in comparison. It's nothing that a little oil and pan-fried crustiness can't fix though. I LOVE that these buns come with no scallions too! ** [ BEAN CURD WITH SHRIMP AND PORK DIM SUM ] | 4.2/5.0 WOW! All I can say is these bean curd babies are everything--soft, smooth, tender, savory, and slightly sweet. The flavor and sauce are absolutely AMAZING! And yup, I lost the pic for this. ** [ RICE NOODLE WITH CURRY FISH BALL ] | 3.9/5.0 This is definitely tasty. There's NO DOUBT about it. Rice noodles with peanut and hoisin sauce--what can go wrong? Sadly, things CAN go wrong. The name CLEARLY says CURRY fish ball, but I assure you these fish balls taste NOTHING like curry. It's just the peanut and hoisin sauce. That's it. Honestly, the portion size for this dish is also much smaller than the usual dishes. Ultimately, these factors aren't enough to make or break this dish, but yeah, there's room for improvement. ** [ RICE NOODLE WITH CORN AND HAM ] | 4.0/5.0 DELICIOUS! I prefer this over the Rice Noodle with Curry Fish Ball, but really there's no way of ACTUALLY comparing the two rice noodles, as they're entirely different. VERY GENEROUS with the portion and toppings! I thought this would be pretty small after ordering the Rice Noodle with Curry Fish Ball, but this is MUCH MORE fulfilling! There's SO MUCH corn and ham as well. Melopanna definitely DOES NOT scrimp on the toppings! The scallions are supposed to cost extra, which I did not ask for, but yeah they gave it. If you don't like scallions, make sure to give them a heads up! It comes with soy sauce on the side. ** [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Again, dim sum isn't my go-to type of meal, but there's no turning down good food. For what it's worth, Melonpanna has a TON of menu options and not only dim sum. There are your everyday bakery items, burgers and sandwiches, and even Taiwanese dishes like popcorn chicken and whatnot. It's worth a visit. read more

I haven't been to Brooklyn in a long time and when I do I find a fairly new and clean Chinese bakery! The daughter requested for plain rice noodle and this place sure has what she wants! The noodle itself is super fresh and delicious! The noodle drenched in sweet soy sauce = perfectO! I had the beef rice noodle which tasted just as good, but it didn't have that much beef. The husband ordered the curry chicken over rice and he said the curry chicken is good but not so much the rice itself. The husband also ordered a side dim sum of siu mai which tasted ok, decent, not good good, but not the worst either. The Portuguese egg tart was good but kept inside the steamer a little too long so the crust was kinda too hard for my taste or was that the intention? The only complaint was the long wait for all of the food but that's because they took their time to prepare our fresh rice noodle which my daughter loved! #happydaughter = #happymom I didn't get to try their match pastries like I wanted to so that's a good valid reason to go back when I'm in Brootklyn again! read more

Because of COVID I have yet to physically go to Melonpanna but I can happily report that not only is their food legit but their take out service is solid too. I was absolutely dying to have some ACTUAL Chinatown food, and I found this place online as one of the few places that will deliver 2 miles away without charging an arm and a leg. I loaded up on shu mai, rice noodles in peanut sauce, steamed buns, sticky rice and a handful of desserts (sadly they were out of har gow, but I really appreciated the prompt phone call from the restaurant to inform me of such and offer a partial refund for the food they couldn't deliver). Reader, it was GOOD. Of course it was, it's coming direct from Brooklyn Chinatown which is always above average. I can't tell you how much I miss going down there (for what it's worth I haven't gone ANYWHERE in a year outside of my neighborhood, so nothing personal). At least I can throw in some support from afar and I'm thrilled to have discovered Melonpanna. Kinda wish they had more non-pork dumpling options, or non-pork in general (they do have some fried chicken options that looked good), but beggars can't be choosers. Bakery serves up eclectic types of buns and cakes you just can't find anywhere else. The dirty Matcha Bun was packed with matcha powder and red bean inner filling, while the Snow White bun has a less intense taste with hint of a milk custard bun. SUPPORT YOUR LGBTQIA BROTHERS AND SISTERS! I've missed dim sum so much. This is one of the only places delivering in South South Brooklyn. I was skeptical at first - a tea/coffee house serving dim sum? Where do they even get their meats from? I cast aside those worries and ordered about $60 worth of dim sum. They have a lot of the classics, but not everything. Got some chicken feet, several types of rice noodles (including curry fishballs), a bean curd roll with shrimp/pork, sticky rice with chicken, har gao, and some buns (pineapple ones and some charsiu baos). For the most part, everything was pretty solid. My favorite dishes were probably the bean curd rolls and the chicken feet. All dishes will run you anywhere from $3-5, which is on par with the pricier dim sum restaurants. Also got some not so traditional stuff, like their Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and a fried chicken sandwich. The popcorn chicken is a must-get. You get a ton for $6.25, and it's overall pretty good. Doesn't come with any sauces though. The chicken sandwich is fine, but a pretty good deal at $4. Pretty big, but the half-assed melted American cheese didn't so much for me. I stopped in here because I had some time to kill in the area. It was one of the hottest days with the heat wave, but nice and cool here. Strong ac in Chinese bakeries/cafe can be rare at times. It probably helped that there weren't too many people inside. This doesn't say anything about the bakery/cafe since it was midweek and the location isn't the busiest. I ordered an iced lemon tea and a ham and cheese croissant, two things cost $4. I would say quality and price is between a traditional Chinese bakery and a Tous Les Jours/Paris Baguette. As for decor, I would also say it's something in between those as well, maybe less Chinese Bakery. There wasn't a huge selection of breads and cakes, but this place also offers dim sum and noodles. I saw some people ordered noodles and they seemed to enjoy it. I can see myself coming back here since it's a great option to have in this part of the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try them. read more

Melonpanna serves an assortment of hot food and baked goods. Here are the items I've tried so far: - Pan fried radish cake: This is my go-to dim-sum here. It's always served hot and fried a nice brown color on the outside. Also, this radish cake is not your traditional radish cake because it is mixed with tiny bits of Chinese sausage which I personally enjoy. Try it out! - Portuguese egg tart: Custard is super yummy. The crust though was a bit burnt/hard for my liking. - Toast with condensed milk: Average. You can't really go wrong with this. - Breakfast combo instant noodles: Nothing memorable. - Chicken fried udon: Served with a lot of veggies. The udon was also seasoned/mixed with a sauce that was overwhelming. I wouldn't order again. All in all, Melonpanna is a neighborhood spot that offers plenty of menu options. Although there were only a few items that were hits for me, I would return to try the other dim sum options and beverages. read more
