There was an array of dim sum options including Pan Fried Dumplings ($5.95), Portuguese Egg Tarts ($3.95), Sui Mai ($5.25), Shrimp Dumpling ($5.25), Pan Fried Turnip Cake ($5.25), Rice Noodle with Fish Ball ($5.25), and Dry Pork Mini Cake ($12.00). Everything was flavorful, juicy and good portions. My favorites are the turnip cake, dumplings, and dry pork cake though, but love the dim sum options here. One of my favorite bakeries in sunset park because of the variety of food they offer. I like their egg tart and hot dog buns but also frequently get their dim sum. I highly recommend the pan fried radish cake and the siu mai. Usually everything's very good, but I didn't love their pork buns- it's not the typical filling that people are used to. Sometimes dreams do come true. A decently priced, classic dim sum place that delivers! Pretty much everything I've tried from here has been at least solid if not top notch. Stand outs are the shumai, any of the rice rolls and the steamed bean curd shrimp and pork wrap. The har gao is also good. I tried some of the steamed buns which were ok and the radish cake had good flavor but wasn't crispy which is understandable for delivery. I discovered this place about two weeks ago and so far I can't seem to stop visiting them. Hands down they make amazing noodle rolls. I've been ordering their dry shrimp with fish ball and cilantro and it's been hitting all the right spot. I also ask for their hoisin/peanut butter sauce and that sauce I'm in heaven. As for the service, they are not as friendly as I would like but I'm not so picky on that since I'm really there for the food. I also wish they would offer a drop off at my car since their service is a bit slow and parking is hard in this neighborhood. I was there and asked if they wouldn't mind handing me my food if I waited in my car outside and they said no. Whomp whomp and oh well. Overall, I would still recommend this place. They definitely know how to roll them delicious noodles and their other food is just as good. As for the store, it does have a few seatings so it's great for people who are looking to dine inside, though no bathroom. I've been looking for a place like Melonpanna, somewhere that has the super affordable HK breakfast combo that you can find in Elmhurst, Queens, but in Brooklyn! I absolutely love all their breakfast combos, and the best part is that they're served till 4 pm in the afternoon! So an amazingly delicious breakfast or brunch meal until 4 pm. My favorite breakfast combos are combo A and combo C. Combo A is their preserved egg and pork congee with scallion pancakes. The congee is perfect, not too salty, not too watery, perfect. The scallion pancakes are always crispy, but always need soy sauce dipped since it's salted/salty at all. The curry fishball - AMAZING. It tastes exactly like the curry fish ball street food carts. I also had the pork rice noodle which was delicious as well. The pineapple bun, well, tastes like a bakery pineapple bun. Nothing too spectacular. I always get an ice-cold milk tea as well, which I believe is an additional $1.50 or $2.00 which is not bad since milk tea is like $5.00 at a bubble tea place. You're also able to ask for the hot tea to be a hot milk tea, which is no additional charge. I've returned a couple more times to try the dim sum and pastries and some of the options here are pretty great! The Portuguese egg tarts are delightful and the birthday cakes are impressive. My cousin recently ordered a purple yam-flavored Raya and the Last Dragon themed cake for her 5-year old and it was amazing. It was deeeelicious (aka not too sweet, the ultimate Asian compliment) and so aesthetically pleasing. Definitely come here for the pretty cakes. As for dim sum, the safest dishes to get are siu mai and har gow/shrimp dumplings. They get these classics done so right and the siu mai are on the bigger side - they fill you right up. The chicken w/ lotus leaf (sticky rice) is also fairly big, complete with Chinese sausage, egg yolk and bone-in chicken. Very yummy. But unfortunately I'm going to have to move the rice rolls down to a miss. Texture wise they are way too mushy for my liking and the roast pork one didn't seem very fresh at all. I ordered via UberEats yesterday and price wise the dim sum here is a lot more affordable than some other restaurants on the platform. I stumbled upon Melonpanna while looking for Taiwanese places within delivery range. As it turns out, there are none. This seems much more like a Cantonese/Hong Kong comfort food spot. Their popcorn chicken is tasty and very filling (though I was so thirsty afterward). I didn't like the pan-fried mini pork buns; there were too many miscellaneous gristly bits inside. I also got the scallion pancake wrap with hot dog, and I could not for the life of me have guessed it was a scallion pancake; by the time it arrived, the hoisin sauce had made everything really soggy and messy. They also have cha chan tang-style breakfast sets, and my favorite thing here is the combo C with "curry" fish balls over rice rolls (it's not curry, it's that classic peanut/hoisin mixture, which I'm A-OK with), a pineapple bun, and hot milk tea. The sauce is a bit sweeter than I'd like, but the rice rolls are good. And their pineapple bun arrives wonderfully warm and toasty on the outside and is pretty fluffy, with a pat of butter inside. My favorite order from the menu is the C meal. It comes with curry fish balls with rice noodles, a pineapple bun with butter, and a cup of coffee or tea for $6. It used to be much cheaper, but due to inflation and etc, it is what it is. The rice noodles is the best. I love the softness and the bouncy-ness/ chewiness of the noodle. In addition, I love the peanut butter and sweet soy sauce that they mix the noodles with. I wish they can add more of the sauce to it. Recently, the cups that they use for the drinks are not correctly sized with the lids. So in my recent orders, my coffee and milk teas are spilled. I end up with only a half full cup of milk tea/ coffee. I hope they can fix this issue if not, they might lose customers. read more

My friend told me about this spot and I decided to check it out since I'm always in the area. I have been here twice and have no complaints. Cute bakery spot with your average Chinese bakery goods and some hot food/dimsum. The staff is really friendly and this place is always clean. Everything is decently priced and the breastfast combos are a steal. The first time I came I ordered three dimsum dishes and they tasted really fresh and better than most restaurants that serves dimsum. The second time I came I had the breakfast combo C for $4.75. It came with fishball rice noodle, pineapple bun with butter and your choice of a coffee or tea. The menu states that this was curry fishball but it tasted like peanut butter sauce to me. The pineapple bun with butter was served room temperature and wished they melted the butter but it was still good regardless. Definitely will be coming back to try the rest of the menu! read more

I haven't been to Brooklyn in a long time and when I do I find a fairly new and clean Chinese bakery! The daughter requested for plain rice noodle and this place sure has what she wants! The noodle itself is super fresh and delicious! The noodle drenched in sweet soy sauce = perfectO! I had the beef rice noodle which tasted just as good, but it didn't have that much beef. The husband ordered the curry chicken over rice and he said the curry chicken is good but not so much the rice itself. The husband also ordered a side dim sum of siu mai which tasted ok, decent, not good good, but not the worst either. The Portuguese egg tart was good but kept inside the steamer a little too long so the crust was kinda too hard for my taste or was that the intention? Because of COVID I have yet to physically go to Melonpanna but I can happily report that not only is their food legit but their take out service is solid too. I was absolutely dying to have some ACTUAL Chinatown food, and I found this place online as one of the few places that will deliver 2 miles away without charging an arm and a leg. I loaded up on shu mai, rice noodles in peanut sauce, steamed buns, sticky rice and a handful of desserts (sadly they were out of har gow, but I really appreciated the prompt phone call from the restaurant to inform me of such and offer a partial refund for the food they couldn't deliver). Reader, it was GOOD. Of course it was, it's coming direct from Brooklyn Chinatown which is always above average. I can't tell you how much I miss going down there (for what it's worth I haven't gone ANYWHERE in a year outside of my neighborhood, so nothing personal). At least I can throw in some support from afar and I'm thrilled to have discovered Melonpanna. Kinda wish they had more non-pork dumpling options, or non-pork in general (they do have some fried chicken options that looked good), but beggars can't be choosers. The dirty Matcha Bun was packed with matcha powder and red bean inner filling, while the Snow White bun has a less intense taste with hint of a milk custard bun. It's a great option to the usual breakfast fare around the neighborhood. Due to Covid there is no sit down and place is basically converted to housing supplies and customer walkway. All dishes will run you anywhere from $3-5, which is on par with the pricier dim sum restaurants. I stopped in here because I had some time to kill in the area. It was one of the hottest days with the heat wave, but nice and cool here. Strong ac in Chinese bakeries/cafe can be rare at times. It probably helped that there weren't too many people inside. This doesn't say anything about the bakery/cafe since it was midweek and the location isn't the busiest. I ordered an iced lemon tea and a ham and cheese croissant, two things cost $4. I would say quality and price is between a traditional Chinese bakery and a Tous Les Jours/Paris Baguette. As for decor, I would also say it's something in between those as well, maybe less Chinese Bakery. There wasn't a huge selection of breads and cakes, but this place also offers dim sum and noodles. I saw some people ordered noodles and they seemed to enjoy it. It's always served hot and fried a nice brown color on the outside. Also, this radish cake is not your traditional radish cake because it is mixed with tiny bits of Chinese sausage which I personally enjoy. Try it out! - Portuguese egg tart: Custard is super yummy. The crust though was a bit burnt/hard for my liking. - Toast with condensed milk: Average. You can't really go wrong with this. - Breakfast combo instant noodles: Nothing memorable. - Chicken fried udon: Served with a lot of veggies. The udon was also seasoned/mixed with a sauce that was overwhelming. I wouldn't order again. All in all, Melonpanna is a neighborhood spot that offers plenty of menu options. I give this store three stars for the food only. I would give it 5 stars usually but the customer service has gone down the tubes. I have ordered on door dash faithfully to this shop for years now. It's my go to breakfast spot when I work remote. I get an iced coffee, some steamed pork buns and a coconut bun. A couple of weeks ago I went in person and was treated horribly. The place is small and the back is full of employees working on to go orders. Drivers were coming in and out grabbing orders. A family came in and they were served first even if I was just waiting for one thing. I guessed they were making my steamed bun fresh. I didn't mind. I was concerned though because I was getting dirty looks from the older ladies behind the counter. When I came in neither moved and had a third lady take my order. Neither wanted to take my money either.. I chocked that up to a language barrier. I'm Hispanic and speak English and spanish. But when I ordered weds (the day before thanksgiving) and it was terrible. I had a driver who was Hispanic and he was telling me my order wasn't in the system and they yelled and called him names. I was appalled. DD cancelled my order and I reordered. I was starving and it was already and hour. I got a driver who was Asian and he was able to deliver with no problem. Again, I chocked it up to a language barrier. Today December 1 I came to order and saw there was a $1.49 delivery fee on Door dash and Grubhub. That's the straw that broke the camels back. I won't be ordering from this store anymore. Even with dash pass my 12 dollar order balloons to 23(with tip. Always tip yall) I think the owners are racist and now they are greedy.
