a hand holding a piece of food

Wanted some fried chicken for Christmas. My husband and I knew that Japanese people normally celebrate by eating KFC and Christmas Cake... so we decided to go out and look for some fried chicken. This was on my radar for awhile as people said their Korean fried chicken was really good. We met up with a friend and nabbed a table. Ordered at the kiosk for 20pc fried chicken (boneless) Soy Garlic flavor and some French fries. I order cheese sauce on the side for the fries. It was roughly about 15-20min wait for the order as they make it fresh to order. On Christmas day, it was busy. Many people came in for their boba drinks. We were luckily to nab the last table as there was a large group of folks that walked in shortly after we ordered. We also saw many pickup orders as delivery folks came in. Overall, the chicken was tender and hot. Very hot. We had the options of folks and plastic gloves which we glady appreciate. Most of the sauce were at the bottom so it became very strong (in taste) when you get to the last few pieces.

I was immediately turned off by the lack of customer service at this establishment upon entrance. As we walked up to the counter to grab a menu, I said hi to the employees and no one looked up or bothered to greet us. I tried to brush it off and walked towards the tables to find a seat. The place was empty, but the first two tables were dirty and no one bothered cleaning it. We walked towards the big table in the back as it was the cleanest one and sat down. One of the employees stepped outside and started smoking on the top of the stairs right outside the door. Naturally, the smell of the cigarette came through the gap below the door and filled the store. My friend and I hate the smell of cigarettes so we found it absolutely nauseating. At that point, we no longer wanted to stay at the store so we just ordered our drinks to go. We both ordered the osmanthus oolong tea with asian pear thanks to a recommendation from a friend and luckily it made up for half of our experience at the store. It was fragrant, tea flavor was present, and it was not overly sweet. All in all, I don't know if I would return as there are plenty of similar options in the area.

Good for 8th avenue Korean fried chicken. 8th avenue is known as Brooklyn's Chinatown so most of the food is Chinese food. I think it's great that they saw the opportunity to start a Korean fried chicken place in Chinatown, especially when Korean food and culture has been expanding rapidly. This place mostly sells Korean fried chicken as it's one of two shops in Brooklyn 8th avenue (that I know of) that sells Korean fried chicken. They have indoor seating, no outdoor seating. The restaurant next door kicked us out when we sat outside in front of this restaurant saying that it was their space, even though they built it in front of this restaurants and on a parking spot. They only had one other guest sitting outside and there was plenty of room. Sure won't be eating next door. LOL The chicken is nothing like the Korean fried chicken you'd have in Korea towns, but it is pretty good and decently priced for Korean fried chicken in Chinatown. Would recommend if you really want for Korean fried chicken and not looking to go to Ktown at 34th street.

Original sandwich meal

My office ordered lunch from here for lunch on Sunday. I ordered: --ORIGINAL SANDWICH MEAL: The meal comes with a fried chicken sandwich, fries and a soda. The sandwich itself was ok. The chicken was ok just slightly dry but the brioche bun was very nice. There was no sauce for the sandwich though so that made it feel even more fry. The fries were fried very well though and were very yummy. --BROWN SUGAR BUBBLE MILK: VERY sweet. But the creaminess of the milk mixed with the syrup worked very well. However, the bubbles were not fully cooked - so that was disappointing. All in all, a fairly average meal that was actually pretty pricy.

I came by here because I was told there was Olive BBQ in Brooklyn and I didn't need to head all the way to K-Town for Korean Fried Chicken but it was under the operating name of TSAOCAA (bubble tea shop). Glad for this new find. The Korean fried chicken here is about the same price at K-town. There was only one person in front of me while ordering in store but it was took them like 20 - 30 minutes to fried the chicken so be prepared to wait. Get the Honey Garlic Wings and Soy Garlic Wings (10 pieces each and $13.50 each order. They are very flavorful.

A nice place to chill with friends. Drinks have a great variety. Food wise, their wings are great, would definitely come back for them. The udon wasn't that great, the flavor was very watered down. I also ordered the sweet potato fries, very much over fried it.. it was hard and so darken, looks like it's been refried. They have spacious seating for small groups so a friend hangout will be a great place.

I ordered from Tsaocaa from Hungry Panda today and got soy garlic chicken, secret spicy chicken, and the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was the worst chicken sandwich I've ever had. I wish I had gotten a McChicken instead. The soy garlic was weirdly flavorless but also too saucy. I will never order from here again.

Ice Grapefruit Green Tea

This is a good place to hang out with friends! The store is spacious with many tables, seats, and delicious drinks. I ordered the Iced Kiwi Green Tea and the Iced Grapefruit Green Tea which where both refreshing for the summer. They were both tangy and sweet too! They are on the pricy side, $5.39 but it was worth trying once. My friend got the Sakura Oolong Tea with Amber bubbles which was alright. There was a slight taste of Sakura but there was nothing amazing about it. One problem I had with this place was that there were so many flies! It was just a bit annoying when having a convo with someone. I think it was just the day I came but I had to swat around my area a few times. However the last time I came, I didn't have that problem.

Ordered: Mashed Taro Milk Green Tea (30% sugar), Cloud-Mist Milk Green Tea (50% sugar) The boba here is really good! Perfectly chewy and not excessively sweet. Both drinks were delicious, but I preferred the Mashed Taro Milk Green Tea. The green tea is fragrant and refreshing.

I intended to come here to study because I saw online that there were a lot spaces to sit. There aren't many places around 8th ave to sit and do work in. After we got our drinks, which were delicious, we settled down. I came around 5pm and could not order chicken because their kitchen was closed already. There were a good number of outlets near where I sat and not many people sitting inside. This place is kept pretty cold inside with their AC. I did not stay here long because I needed to pee and their bathroom is labelled staff only.

Honey Garlic Boneless Chicken with Fries ($10.25)
Sandy D.

Note the name on delivery services is actually different: Tai Bei Tea and Chicken. I wanted wings at first but given they were 10pcs too much, I ordered the Boneless Honey Garlic Chicken (6pcs) with Fries Meal ($10.25) that also came with a soda. I also was craving a refreshing drink given the hot weather and got a Passion Fruit & Lime Green Tea ($5.75). My drink sadly didn't come with a straw, but I just took it as a sign to use my metal straw. The chicken came in a nice, easy to dispose, takeout box. They seem to have a partnership or something with the chain, BBQ Olive Chicken, as that's where their Korean fried chicken were from. Appearance wise, the food didn't look very appetizing, but I was pleasantly surprised. It really felt like they brought BBQ Olive Chicken to Brooklyn. The chicken had a nice, subtle sweet glaze, with an equal amount of meat to batter, if not more meat! Each of the fries were so crispy, yet perfectly soft on the inside. And of course, their stellar drinks. I stopped bothering to take a chance on their milk tea drinks and opted for their refreshing fruit teas. I love all their fruit drink selections, and none have disappointed. Sweet, yet tangy, this drink pairs so well on a nice sunny day. My type of guilty pleasure meal, this lunch satisfied and I would totally do it again.

Honey Garlic ()
Carol C.

My favorite go-to spot for Korean fried chicken in my area and they never disappoint! The BB wings are super crispy with a touch of peppery kick. The honey garlic tastes exactly like it's name. The umami aromatic taste of garlic with a touch of sweetness to even out the garlicky-ness. Delicious

Wings are okay but NOT worth the wait.

There's a lot of bubble tea competition in the area so it's nice to see them thriving. My usual rotation is: Wonder Grape - light and refreshing, my most ordered drink Hojicha Latte - my caffeine pick when I want that roasted flavor Coco Mango - more of a dessert drink, reminds me of mango sai mai lo Mochi O Sesame - dessert like, creamy and satisfying Pomegranate Burst - my no caffeine antioxidant pink drink during that time Persimmon series - my actual favorite but it only shows up during the fall season They also have snacks like popcorn chicken, crispy chicken burgers, and eggy waffles. One thing though, this location doesn't seem to carry the cauliflower that I've had and liked from other Jooy spots. I still think their older signature drinks are the most reliable. Some of the newer series feel a little rushed. I tried the pear series and the pear tasted unripe while the pomelo was a lot which made the drink come out pretty bitter. The guava series was also too light when I tried it, almost like guava tinted tea.

When you first walk in, you are hit with the lovely and fragrant smell of tea leaves, and freshly brewed tea. I went with one of the more popular drinks - Coconut Mango Blue. I don't normally love coconut flavor but you couldn't taste it too much here. You taste more of the mango flavor, which was refreshing. I had never had blue spirulina before and it didn't really taste like anything. Again, you just taste more of the mango. Hubby had the Green Grape Boom, which was a little melty by the time he drank it so it would have tasted much better if it was still slushy. Almost all other tea shops in this neighborhood close pretty early so that definitely sets this establishment apart. The milk tea was made well, just the appropriate amount of sweetness. Both were very patient as we looked through the menu. My sister ended up ordering the kumquat lemon green tea with no sugar, and I really liked how the tea-rista/cashier advised that she get it with 30% sugar as it may be too sour for her taste. My sister reassured her that she wanted it with no sugar, and then the tea-rista in training proceeded to make her drink. The kumquat lemon green tea was tart like my sister preferred, the service was quick, and the staff were very nice. Overall, pleasant experience.
