Upon entering all you smell is delicious sweet baked goods. I could wear the scent of this Bakery as a cologne. We got 6 cookies that were 8.25 per pound and 3 pastries; 2 large St. Joseph and a strawberry cheesecake slice for only $13.25, an incredible price. The winners were the excellent cannoli cream, cheesecake and the meringue type cookies. The custard pastry wasn't as good as the cannoli one and the lemon drop cookies were too big and not so fresh. Who would complain about cookies being too big! We definitely will be back to taste the other treats. This is a hidden gem of Italian bakeries and should be celebrated. Grandma's Bakery is worth a visit if you're ever in the area for some Italian pastries to impress your friends with, or if you're craving for something sweet. I usually end up here by shear accident, and end up spending well over $60 when I walk outta the place. This visit was celebratory, as I was given a raise at work, so my husband picked up some St. Joseph's pastries. The cannoli was the clear winner as I absolutely loved the slightly gritty texture and the little chocolate chips that were like little surprises. They were both light and fluffy, but most importantly - they were FRESH. Supporting Grandma's is like supporting any local business, but Grandma's should continue to be a permanent fixture in the neighborhood for years to come. read more

Passed by this bakery on the way to see Christmas Lights in Brooklyn. For $4.50 we got a bunch of cookies and hot chocolate. And everything was delicious. I would happily go back and try anything they make. It was Christmas day, so I'm grateful it was open because the food trucks at the Dyker Heights lights were crowded. Delicious, fresh baked goods for reasonable prices. $3 per piece. Lobster tail was full of delicious cream, which wasn't sweet, but perfectly delicate. Chocolate cannoli was standard. The shell could've used more crunch, but that was because that particular cannoli wasn't the freshest. Rum baba with lemon curd was soooo sweet, a good match for someone with a sweet tooth. So close! The pastry items are cheap and look the part, but come very close to tasting it. Of course, I had to try a Linzer tart to see how it stacks up with the rest of the competition because if it is good, the rest will fall in line. While I enjoyed the smooth jam flavor, the cookie layer is way too hard. This is likely due to a result of either over proofing or the fact these may have been sitting for most of the day. A good Linzer tart should have good chew and crunch. This had more of the latter than the former. It also started to fall apart after three bites, losing most of its integrity pretty quickly. I was appreciative of the cute staff and that these only cost $2.50. Sure, they take credit cards, but so far nothing has come close to what Cuccio's has brought to the table when it comes to decadent bakery products. Almost there Grandma's, almost. read more

We stumbled across this place when we were wandering around on a recent Sunday to see the lights in Dyker Heights. We each bought a cherry pie (I highly recommend the Cherry Crumb Pie - it was delicious!), and they happened to be on sale after Thanksgiving. The person behind the counter made a beautiful presentation, putting the striped string around the box. My only issue was that the other employee had her mask beneath her nose and sneezed three times while we were there. That was kind of unnerving. read more

Butter cookies and mini Cannolis were pretty tasty. This neighborhood Italian bakery is small, but filled with all the sweets and pastries we can imagine. Counter person weren't all too friendly and seemed a bit bored as I looked around the cookie display. Bought just about half a pound of the assorted butter cookies and two mini Chocolate chip cannolis. Great place for desserts. It's an Italian bakery so their goods are made right. Ordered some of their small cannolis and they were sweet and crunchy shell. I ordered their Blackout cake for 2 different occasions- layers of chocolate cake with chocolate pudding in between, so delectable good! Gooey and sweet and not a bad portion. Omg a huge shout out to ROY for making me this delicious Birthday cake! Absolutely flavorful and moist. My husband surprised me with a cake for my birthday and Im not really a big fan of sponge cakes but this one was very good. One the best bakeries in the Delray area. The baked goods are always good but they do sell out fast on some days. The only downside is they need a better system to serve the customers as there are always problems with some entitled people causing problems on the line. Otherwise a great place and recommended. 2.5 stars. I had a craving for some Italian baked goods and Grandma's Bakery did not satisfy that craving. Maybe I didn't order the right things, but from flavors to textures, it wasn't that good. I got half a pound of butter cookies (apricot filling & chocolate filling), cream puffs and a slice of pineapple buttercream cake (?). Service was alright, not the most friendly, but still helpful if you have questions. I'm not sure what the prices were, but considering I got everything under $10, everything must be priced at reasonable prices. The cake didn't taste very fresh and it was wet and too sweet so I don't recommend it. The cream puffs were very disappointing! I couldn't identify what type of cream they used, but they told me it was custard. The taste and texture was just weird while the pastry part was kinda stale. The butter cookies were alright, but I've certainly had better; butter cookies should melt in your mouth, not crumble to pieces when you bite into it. Overall, this bakery might be ok for the things I didn't try, but I won't be back since the things I do like, they don't make very well. There are lots of Italian bakeries in the area! read more

Bought an oreo cake for my friends birthday and it was good. Very moist and fresh. Why the 2 stars? The service is terrible. Once i arrived, i stood by the cakes and was expecting one of the girls to come help me. Instead they both stood there chatting away. I ended up going to them and told them i needed a cake. I would expect one of them to come out and let me know what's in each cake but instead they stood behind the counter the whole time asking me what kind of cake i wanted. How am i supposed to know what cake i wanted if they won't come out and let me know which cake is what. If there were signs for each cake then it's understandable but there were about 20 different cakes in the showcase, half of which looked the same. They need to hire new workers because it'll ruin their business. It's a shame because the cake was pretty good but don't think i'll come back unless i see new workers. read more

My family and I have lived in Dyker Heights for 20+ years and we would buy between 3-5 birthday cakes a year from Grandma's Bakery. Over the years, the prices of their products have gotten higher but that is understandable due to increases in the prices of ingredients, rent, etc. In the past, whenever you bought a cake and asked for a message on it, the girls at the counter would show you the finished product before they started to wrap it. However, this time the girl helping me did not show me the cake beforehand and I didn't realize how disappointing the cake looked until I bought it home. Definitely my go to bakery. I would give this place a 4.5 star rating if I could. I go here all the time to get cannolis and they are always fresh, delicious and affordable. The one time I went in there, I only had my card and there is a $10 minimum; I struggled to meet the minimum! I thought 2 pastries would be $10 but I walked out of there with a slice of chocolate cake, carrot cake and 3 cannolis! Everything is right around $2 each, which is great. I enjoyed the carrot cake and chocolate cake (and of course the cannolis). Yesterday I tried the red velvet cake for the first time and was slightly disappointed. It didn't have much flavor. After watching a video of Italian desserts I was intrigued by Sfogliatella. I wanted to try it for the past few weeks. It didn't get the chance. That is until I was in Bensonhurst and found Grandmas Bakery. The bakery was cute and made me feel like I was in a grandma's home. The servers were very helpful and patient. I decided to get a Sfogliatella and some mini cakes. The cheesecakes tasted better than the carrot cake which was dry. The Sfogliatella was sweet enough and crispy. Sorry, I had to write this review. I really am, but people should know. I hope this will help avoid future mishaps. LONG VERSION: The bakery's products are genuinely good, not super sweet like most bakeries, and that's why I decided to order a birthday cake for my friend's 30th birthday. Maybe my order just wasn't special enough? Maybe my order was not expensive enough for their attention? Maybe they didn't realize I am a regular who comes in every month or so to buy either cakes or cookies? I still don't know the reason why the order was so so so wrong. I ordered a SQUARE cake with EDIBLE PRINTS covering the side and the top. The end result? A ROUND, with NO edible prints of any kind, run-of-the-mill strawberry shortcake. (If you are curious, the edible print was suppose to be a girl running away with the Groot plant and a whole bunch of Guardian of the Galaxy cast running after her with the following sentence on the top, "We are Groot." Get it? Groot said, "I am Groot" throughout the move, but when the racoon asks why Groot is sacrificing himself to save them, Groot answers, "'We' are Groot") Fine. Okay. Alright, besides the fact that my friend's actual 30th birthday landing on a Saturday for everyone to celebrate with her, which will probably NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, but, okay, I tell myself, "It's okay. Just breath." I told myself, "Hey, at least there IS a cake." Brace yourself, this last bit of detail will come back to me like a metal boomerang. I called the bakery immediately to tell them their mistakes. After some back and forth, I found out two things: 1. The person who took down the cake details, never wrote any details down. In fact, it just said a ROUND strawberry shortcake (What the...) 2. Person who spoke to me on the phone was asking for details about the cake, which made me think they are looking for my cake (me and my hopeful thinking), but they were getting details because they were going to make the cake now. They offered delivery. The only problem is it will take them a FEW HOURS to complete it. No offense, kudos for trying, but it was already 3pm, there is no way I can keep my guests for another few hours for a cake. We agreed to a refund. Everyone makes mistakes. Agreed? Agreed. When I arrived, I received a partial refund. Refund equivalent to the difference between the cake I received and the cake I was suppose to receive. I was utterly shocked. I get it. You're thinking, I still ate the cake, so you earned the money for that cake. (Pa PoW! the boomerang just hit!) But dearie, you're bakery is called Grandma's Bakery, which made me think you would be friendlier and possibly more compassionate about the fact that I can NEVER give that cake to my friend ON her 30th birthday, which LANDS RIGHT ON A SATURDAY. I expect this behavior from another bakery, but not you. Just in case the bakery (or anyone else) thinks a partial refund is reasonable because a bakery might lose money giving full refunds to every customer with the wrong cake, than my rebuttal is, with a sarcastic tone, "Do you intend to make that many mistakes?" read more

Formally named C&D Bakery, back in the day. I really like their biscuit cookies at only $5 a pound and the LARGE linzer tart cookies for only $1.50! The 7 layer cookies are really good at a price of only $9.99 a pound! Lots of fresh pastries and large assortment of cookies and fresh Italian bread. Clip out the coupons in The Market Place hometown newspaper for $1 off the price of the cookies makes it an even better deal! You really can't go wrong, and I doubt there's a little grandma in the the back of the bakery making cookies! read more

Yummiest chocolate covered cannoils and cappuccino cheesecake. I usually hate bakery cheesecake but they do it right here. Nice and creamy, not hard. The small cannolis and most mini desserts are $1.00. It's a good local bakery and hasn't disappointed me. Would I travel to get here? No, but I live in the neighborhood. I would travel for Financier in NYC, that's a whole nother level. Definitely worth it if you live in Dyker. read more
