Whenever I visit New York, I have to save room for Martha's! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious--especially for a NYC café, and the music is always on point. Service is fast; they take your drink order almost as soon as you sit down. I love taking a moment to browse all the desserts in the display case because there are so many options, and I appreciate the variety every time. This visit, I tried the Bread pudding, Carrot cake, and Berry Napoleon. The bread pudding was my favorite--they don't skimp on the serving, it heats up well, and it's perfect to take on the go without worrying about the texture later. The Napoleon was also great; the cream was delicious and not overly sweet. While I'm usually a big carrot cake fan, this one leaned towards being too sweet for me. Was a little early for a movie around the corner figured we get a treat with our daughters. You can dine in or take out we didn't realize you couldn't just get what you wanted and sit down so we ate it outside and it was really cold that day so we just ended up putting it in our car. My husband and I only ordered the lava cake with gelato since we were so full - but we definitely kept going back and forth on what to order. The lava cake and gelato were SO good.
