I really enjoyed this Italian bakery in Brooklyn. One of the more interesting item I got here was their pistachio lobster tail! I don't think I've had that before so I really enjoyed trying out different flavors of classic Italian pastries!

What can you say about this local timeless establishment? All Italian delicacies, gelato cookies, cakes, espresso, etc. it's such a treat. I used to come here more often, but I haven't been here in a long time. Parking might be an issue, double parked, and risk. It was worth the risk for the rainbow cookie and pistachio cookie. Yum just looking at the pictures I wanna go back.

Stopped in for a few treats on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line. Pistachio lobster tail and pignoli cookie were great. Rainbow cookie and chocolate dipped lace cookie were both sadly meh. You can do better for Italian bakeries in NYC, but it's def worth getting that pistachio lobster tail if you're in the area. 3.5 stars.

My 8 year old loves the cookies from here. we used to come a lot more often when. she was in school near by. I stopped today and hit 1/2 dozen cookies and a cup of chocolate ice cream. The cookies didn't taste as good as a few weeks ago. Maybe it just wasn't a great batch. we still come thou. it's nice inside lots of seats to sit down and a great selection

Lovely family owned Italian bakery. We came here for late night treats and to buy souvenirs for family back home in California. Pros: Gorgeous displays of detailed marzipan sculptures!! Worth coming just to see these Wide variety of sweets / traditional classic cookies (rainbow, honey ball plates, cannolis, nougat cake) and all are beautifully done Cons: A bit pricey but not unexpected for the neighborhood or nyc in general. Have had better pastries elsewhere growing up in a high Italian population area but not complaining since this place was a pretty complete one stop shop

We stopped in here after a scalp massage. We ordered at the counter and they brought it out to our table. The marzipan's were beautiful and tasted great, but it was a little bitter. The rainbow cookie lacked jam, but otherwise great texture. The experience here was typical of an Italian bakery.

typical old-school italian cafe with lots of goodies! we tried the pistachio lobster tail, pistachio cannoli, rum baba, and hot coffees. the highlight was definitely the lobster tail, so flakey and had lots of pistachio and a just-sweet-enough pastry cream. the cannoli was still pretty crispy and the ricotta filling was great! i've never been a huge fan of rum baba and this one was no exception. it was fine and more of a "me" problem for not liking them lol. overall, really happy to check this place off of my list and will return in the future!

This is my new favorite local spot. I just moved a few blocks away from here and will be coming here probably at least once a week. As a cannoli addict, this place has not disappointed... but the real stars of the show are the rainbow cookies and the lobster tail. I love that there's seating inside so opposed to a grab and go type spot. The service has been iffy at times but generally fine. Will be leaving many many more reviews...

    Baptism cake

I ordered a cake for a baptism and was shocked to find it made in red. I had to drive back from Queens after being told it would be corrected. When I got home again, the cake now read "Happy Birthday" with a cross on it, forcing me to make a third trip just to get the order done properly. At no point did anyone apologize or offer to make it right in any way. When I initially posted a review, the owner falsely claimed it wasn't his bakery, despite the fact that I had been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Due to the repeated errors, lack of accountability, and dishonesty, they have lost my business and that of everyone close to me.

Fortunato Brothers, you rock! Years ago, my cousin packed up her family and moved to Virginia. I'm going to see everyone before heading to my timeshare. She tells me: Billy, can you bring some Italian cookies? And bread! Oh how we miss good New York bread. Now I'm on a mission, where can I zap in, grab the goods and zap out? Fortunato Brothers is my go to, grab the goods and hit the highway. I walk into an empty store. I see rows and rows of Italian baked goods. I'm going to order a few pounds of Italian cookies and I was told bread! They haven't has good Italian bread in years. The bread was still warm when they put it in the bag. The final product? C'mon, it's a Brooklyn Italian bakery! The Sfogliatel was fresh and had a nice crunch. How do I know? I was driving south on I95 and busted open the box of pastries! How could you not, the smell is intoxicating and calling me: Bill S... This is a bakery and not a sit down restaurant, you won't be on your laptop all day sippin' lattes.

Along with Veniero's, Fortunato is one of the few remaining classic Italian bakeries in the City outside of South Brooklyn and the Bronx. While I find Veniero's excels primarily at their cakes, like the torta di mandorle and their Italian cheesecake, Fortunato does best at cookies. In particular, their pignoli cookies are the best rendition I've had of this item anywhere, and they also offer a less traditional pistachio cookie that is even better. Note that the gelato is generally worth skipping.

Late night Italian desert shop! Perfect place to grab a desert after a meal and the cannoli didn't disappoint! It didn't blow my mind but how big it was for the price of only $5 seemed really worth it to me. Had a lot of seating as well with a waiter if you wanted to sit down and chat for a bit!

Cannolis: Pistachio and chocolate w peanuts
    Jason C.

Best. Cannolis. Ever. Cream well balanced, not too rich or sweet. Just right. Shell to die for. Basic shell, rolled in delicious toppings. Despite all the calorie carnage on all the great pizza spots in NYC throughout the day, it was absolutely appropriate to finish the day with these amazing cannolis!

We ordered one strawberry and one strawberry banana crêpe. They were filled with strawberries and bananas, and the outside was drizzled with glorious Nutella, which is a hazelnut chocolate sauce . The texture of the crêpes were absolutely perfect and that was the part I was most craving. I also loved the Nutella part. The banana and strawberry not so much as to me that didn't really have much of a taste, but maybe that was because the rest of it was super flavorful and over powered the fruit. All good and definitely satisfied my crêpe craving, but next time I would stop by to enjoy their desserts in person. The Kunafa looks particularly wonderful and has definitely peaked my curiosity.

Having a dessert spot in the neighborhood that is open late night and is serving flavors of our culture is nothing short of a dream come true. Not so great for my weight loss goals, though haha. Thank you, Moose. I came in here, and the place was absolutely buzzing, with groups of people enjoying their late night desserts- a testament to how much we needed this spot to just open and thrive and exist. I don't personally like cream Kenafa so I haven't really tried anything off their menu yet, but the Dubai chocolate crêpe is really calling out my name, and I am just going to bite the bullet and try it one of these days. I did go in to sample their Dubai chocolate. As a chocoholic, I am on a low-key search for the best Dubai chocolate bar in the city. This bar did not disappoint. The filling to chocolate ratio was perfect. However, I do feel that there is an over balance of crispy kanafa in the filling. I think it could use more pistachio cream and be a little on the runnier side. Can't wait to come back and try that crêpe. Until I am able to make that trip back, do stop in and enjoy a sweet treat in this cute little dessert shop. It's also Palestinian owned so you know you are supporting the right people and the right cause while satisfying that sweet tooth craving. What more could a customer ask for?

Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.
