Oh, Ange Noir... I once had a love relationship with your food that was top-tier for years, I'd order weekly! However, the takeout delivery has just got was dreadful. You've really went downhill. Everything is dreadfully smaller for the same price. You used to have a giant fluffy egg square on your breakfast sandwich and now I've gotten one lumpy small egg drenched in so much overly spicy sauce - that used to be more soft and palatable, I can't even taste anything else, to compensate for the lack of sandwich for over $12. Insane. The fries were the highlight of my meal and that's really saying a lot. $6.50 for one of the smallest iced coffees I've ever received... I think you're staying open on highway robbery alone. Or that the gentrifiers just don't give a damn. Honestly, I could've gotten something better at the Bodega for less than $35 after the Uber fees. I feel bad leaving this honestly, but... how you go from such a wonderfully established place to some dreadful experience is just sad. The food was ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I ordered a crepe and a latte, and it cost nearly $25! The crepe was so skimpy it was laughable--barely anything inside--and the latte? It literally put me to sleep. I paid extra for lavender syrup and couldn't even taste it. As if that wasn't bad enough, the night scene was unbearable. I ordered the iced salted caramel latte with whole milk and the pretzel sandwich with egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, and chipotle mayo. Great proportions for both, flavor for the coffee is so fire and delicious. It balances very well with the sandwich. I'd personally add salt n pepper w/ the egg but the chipotle adds bomb flavor profiles. I had high hopes for this place, but my experience was nothing short of a disaster. I came in on a Sunday morning, hoping for a relaxing brunch with a good cup of coffee. And no, it wasn't one of those charming "slow food movement" delays--it was pure chaos. I watched my bagel sit on the counter for 15 minutes while the staff argued over whose turn it was to deliver it. Now, the food. When I finally got my avocado bagel, it looked like someone had smashed an underripe avocado with a hammer and sprinkled it with salt. The bread was soggy in some spots and rock-hard in others. The latte? Burnt milk with a hint of espresso--no foam art in sight. The worst part? It was lukewarm. I've had better coffee from a gas station. As for the ambiance, don't let the Instagram-worthy photos fool you. Sure, the telephone booth is retro ish, but the whole place smelled faintly of mildew, and the club music was so loud and mismatched--imagine techno beats mixed with a folk singer wailing about heartbreak--that I couldn't hear myself think. Stopped by this cute little spot a few days ago for brunch. I was interested after looking at the menu & seeing that they had a variety of unique items. I ordered the House Pretzel, which was essentially egg & cheese on a pretzel bun. The food was very flavorful & the pretzel itself had a soft texture that matched the egg & cheese well. They have a lot of sweet breakfast items as well (which is my usual go-to for breakfast), like crepes, French toast, & oatmeal. I will definitely be trying a sugar and lemon crepe next time!! I also got a caramel latte, which was delicious. & for my sweet snack for later, I got a carrot muffin with cream cheese filling. You can tell the food quality is good here & I love that. The person working at the counter was very nice & conversational, & even wished my friend a happy birthday once we told them it was my friend's bday. The interior is definitely unique & has a cool vibe. Red curtains, art mannequins, dark lighting, booth couches, & they also have a printer which I am pretty sure is for public use which is awesome!!
