    Breakfast Sandwich

Service was friendly and fast. Very solid breakfast sandwich! Got it with mayo, ketchup and hot sauce. I wish the eggs were salted a little strongly but just a personal choice. Will be coming again!

never order viet coffee at a non viet coffee shop lol coffee tasted bad AND it took so long to come out the worker was a bit rude, ill cut her some slack bc there was suddenly a long line but could be handled better this seems to be a popular spot so maybe i just ordered the wrong thing but definitely do not order the viet coffee bc there was nothing viet about this coffee

    Breakfast Sandwich on Everything Bagel
    Amir A.

Yeahhhh "it was mid lowkey" words that just came out of my mouth recalling the bagel sandwhich, maybe I didn't order anything worthy but I had "breakfast sandwich" which included Eggs, Avocado, Spouts, and hot sauce with no cheese. Didn't taste like much I couldn't have made in my own kitchen, no wow factor. You can't sit anywhere, it's not that kind of place so you really just standing around oh and it's under the bridge so there's ya ambiance, but the server was nice! My friend said she likes bagel itself.

As most of you know, I am always of the look out for delicious coffee! And when I want coffee I sometimes want a little treat. And who isn't a sucker for atmosphere? I have been roaming the streets of Bushwick in hopes of a good little spot to chill at. This weekend I found a great little outdoor coffee shop that was the bee's knees! Drum roll please....the coffee shop is Mixtape! I know, the name alone draws you in. Mixtapes are the sign of friendship and love in the nineties! Only an older individual would know the importance of a mixtape. How important for each song to hold hand in hand and lead into each other. I still have some of my favorite mixtapes. Back to the coffee shop...they have tons of tapes...I didn't see mixtapes though. I did spot Ovenly cookies! I was quick to order the granola cookie. The iced coffee was delicious and they even poured the soy milk in for me. I met Gavin and Hannah while I sat on the outside seating area. They were both super sweet. I was informed that the bagels came from "BagelSmith". I will have to make a trek for a bagel soon. One could easily tell that this place knows quality. Gavin even expressed a want to bring in some "Doughnut Plant" doughnuts! Oh yeah! Pleassssseee do! The only time when it got interesting was when the train ran through. It was like the scene in Annie Hall where Woody Allen explains growing up in Coney Island. We had to stop talking and let it run through. But it also made you feel very NY. There are unfortunately no restrooms that I could tell. They do take cards. Mixtape is so pleasant and close to some of my fave bars that I will definitely be returning. They also have Ritual Roasters from San Francisco that is my favorite!

Picnic Table with prosciutto and another with lox.
    Jelita A.

Probably the best bagels in Bushwick. I got the Picnic Table on everything and added prosciutto and it was amazing. My boyfriend got the same but added lox instead. I'm not really a huge fan of lox, but their's was very good! Not too smoky, not too fishy, a really good texture. The best part about Mixtape is that they really pack the bagel, but it was so easy and clean to eat. Not a single avocado slipped out the back. AND coffee was also good! A win win for everyone.

    Lox Bagel. Yum!
    Amy P.

I think this is a very cute spot under the train on Bushwick. The menu options all seem really goo to have for a quick grab and go breakfast. Or even lunch. I decided to go with their Lox on an everything bagel. It was very good. Lox, Pickled onions, arugula, tomatoes and cream cheese. To me thats a perfect combo. I already had water on hand. So i wouldnt know what the drinks were like. But just by looking at them from other customers, they looked very good to try. I will be back. All you do is order and go. Its not an actual cafe. Its on the outside. There are seats if you would like to sit right in front. I do recommend.

What can I say other than I love the Redux coffee...and the egg sandwiches. Spent the week in Bushwick visiting and when I got back to California, I ended up having some beans shipped here. Will probably need to do that again since my stash is running low. Great service, nice folks and incredible coffee. Guji Mane FOREVER!

As far as the dining area- The restaurant was spacious, composed of neatly lined tables and chairs with their centerpiece luncheonette bar gracing the room. Their al fresco arrangement was remarkable- with their lighter hued blue and green colored metallic seats and tables quietly lining the corner of Menahan street. A softboi haven. I imagined this to be a type of restaurant where a newlywed Mormon couple in the Great Plains would run. A place where pleasantries and support for one's neighbor is what mattered. "Another delicious sandwich, Hezekiah. See you guys in church." but truthfully, I felt a bit sour overriding my preference for the reliable in favor for the novel. A half chicken over yellow rice with plantains might have been the better option for my pocket, palate, and my need to protein max. But woe is me. Regardless, I'll have to respectfully pass on seconds at the Salty Lunch Lady's.

Every staff member was super young--barely legal or not even. Every interaction felt like staff were practicing their lines, playing a role in a play, and us, customers, were just cast. Waiters and buss boys were speaking to us like we were dumb/deaf/on the spectrum/high/drunk. It was so disconcerting. Never had such weird experience. Made me so uncomfortable. We were the first ones in the door with 11am reservation on a Saturday. The place filled up quickly. High noise level. Not the best for large groups. The burgers sell out quickly, as only 68 are prepared daily, so we snagged those right away. So delicious. Double smashed cheeseburger--simple and satisfying. Very rich. Would return for this again. French toast was disappointing. Looked pretty but tasted of nothing. It wasn't French toast in a traditional preparation: it was bread pudding cut into a slice and drizzled with syrup and served French toast style. The texture was of a moist but bland bread pudding. Utterly disappointing. Skip. War potatoes (crispy potatoes that are served as a side, with a dollop of super spicy sauce) were very tasty. Double or triple fried to a crispy perfection. Love me some perfectly crisp potatoes. These are super caloric, so prepare for some heartburn after. Ask for war sauce on the side because it is SPICY. House made pistachio gelato was superb. So many pistachios--I'd eat this daily and would return for this!

Next time I'd definitely come for a table, and maybe a proper meal, because the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked divine. My only gripe? Seventeen dollars for an espresso martini feels... ambitious for Ridgewood. It's not like this is some high-end cocktail bar, it's an elevated pizzeria.
