There are about 4 tables to sit, I loved being able to people watch while we ate. I came in with my mom to kill some time while we wait for my car. The gentleman helping us was super friendly, he greeted us when we walked in. Our bagels sesame and a plain one, both with scallion cream cheese and lox. So good! Coming here was a simple decision since I was just directly across the street at the CityMD for an appointment. For 9:30AM, this place was pretty busy with orders for take-out and delivery. The staff was super nice and quick when I asked for an everything whole wheat bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese and a medium coffee with milk and sugar. I always ask for them to add butter, but not toast it. I opted to eat inside, which was actually a huge plus since it was misting outside. The tables were all clean and inviting. My bagel was so soft and the bacon to egg ratio was better than most places I've been to. The coffee was fresh and made to my liking; no burnt taste here! They have so many bagel varieties, I would have to come back and just order bagels to bring home or bring into work one day. Wasn't a huge fan. Not sure if overhearing the place mess up a customers order twice took away from my experience, but it made me question the place as a whole. My order was simple, a lightly toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with lox spread. The bagel had little taste to it, way too light on the cinnamon and the raisins. The lox spread was okay, borderline being thin. Watching the debable of messing up the other customers sandwich the first time, ok, no big deal, i've worked in a bodega and mistakes happen. But, the second time the sandwich came out, it was made even worse, nor was it rushed to the front of the line as it should have been. This person got their sandwich as I walked in, got their replacement as I ordered, and then got their second one as I was done eating. I ordered a cheddar cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese ($5.49) and was pretty pleased with how it came out. For one, the slice of cheddar cheese is broiled atop a plain bagel so you get a nice color and crispy bit of cheese on your bagel. The veggie cream cheese had a lot of grated carrots, and I noticed some red onion, scallion, and something crunchy and tart which I'm assuming are pickles. There weren't a lot of cream cheese choices at this location, so I think I'd recommend grabbing just their bagels and bringing them home instead. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed by the bagels and cream cheese from Baker's Dozen. The bagels where really hard and the cream cheese was just okay. I had ordered an everything bagel (not toasted) with scallion cream cheese, and an everything bagel (not toasted) with lox cream cheese. The bagels were way too dense and hard to bite into, and the flavors were very underwhelming. What did surprise me was the service. The employees were so nice and so helpful. Located in greenpoint near the G train (Nassau A stop). I just happened to pass by and got an everything bagel toasted with scallion cream cheese. There were a few people there but I got the bagel within 5 min. There are very few tables to sit at (around 4). It seems chaotic when you go inside esp if there are alot of people but the line moves. The staff is behind a high platform counter so you have to look up and kinda shout your order where there's a bunch of people in line crowding the area. I ordered an egg bagel with lox cream cheese. My bagel tasted not fresh- if anything stale. I wish I had gotten it toasted. I didn't love how many of the cream cheese spreads and things like the muffins (pistachio namely) were artificially colored- like the lox cream cheese spread was VERY pink, the pistachio muffin VERY lime green. I've seen other lox cream cheeses that are perfectly tasty just white and have bits of lox in it. The service was okay. Had to go to Greenpoint for work one day and decided to give this place a try for lunch after a quick search of what was nearby. I ended up ordering something very simple: chicken salad on a whole wheat everything bagel. The chicken salad was good, the bagel was large and fresh with just the right texture, and service was quick. Prices are very reasonable. The staff members were all warm and friendly. They also gave me a free muffin on the house which was very nice of them. Oh, how I wish I had more time to spend here and try everything. The workers are super nice. We stopped in to pick up some bagels before flying home. They have all the bagel varieties and all sorts of flavored schmears (regular cream cheese, flavored, tofu spread, etc). And they also have incredibly delicious monster-size muffins. My girlfriend loved this bagel place, but we'll be finding a new one. A while back we went there and they had changed their paper wrappers to include new printed logos. Alex K told me to try this place when I was in Greenpoint, which is an area named after a certain environmentalist's very impressive manhood (his "Green Point"), and speaking of manhoods, did you know that this shop was never named Baker's Dozen until Alex K started coming here. They offered him free bagels if he showed them his "package", so he whipped out all twelve inches of it (trust me on this, I have it on very good authority from some Mafia friends), and they were so impressed by the "dozen inches" that they named their place "Biggest Dozen" because it was, well, the biggest dozen they'd ever seen. Over time the name was lost in translation like Bill Murray on February 2nd, and people incorrectly assumed that the name related to Baking rather than to the swollen package of my Buffalonian friend with the Brooklynish accent. What to get: Everything Bagel with whatever cream cheese you fancy. What else: My own personal cream cheese is also pretty tasty if you're up for it. Having tried a good number of bagels in several boroughs, I can say that Baker's Dozen makes one of the best bagels you'll find in NYC. There are an unfortunate number of lesser-standard bagels around now, but there are still plenty of gems, and this is right up there as one of the top few in Brooklyn and the top ten in NYC. It's also extremely cheap, cheaper than the "tourist trap" bagel spots of Manhattan and Williamsburg. Each time, I order an everything bagel with some delicious homemade cream cheese on it, such as onion, jalapeno or olive. It's absolutely divine. I shared half of it with my travelling companion, but I could have easily eaten the whole thing myself, it was that good. The dough is so fresh and moist, the taste is fantastic, it's quintessential NYC bageldom, the thing is so plump and scrumptious and well-formed, and the cream cheese is always fantastic. As I said about nearby Bergen Bagels, they're definitely among the top 5 bagels in Bklyn and the top 10 bagels in NYC, and with all due respect, the top 10 bagels in NYC are probably the top 10 bagels in the USA, in fact the world. Even that one in East London, on Brick Lane, as good as it is, doesn't really make a Harvey Dent in the top 10 list because of the NYC places. Maybe it could be high up on the "best of the rest" list but nothing more. Baker's Dozen, though, is well inside the top ten, so get yourself over here and give it a try. It's not one of the most fashionable bagel shops and isn't as busy when I've been there as it should be, so come and do something about that and enjoy one of NYC's best bagels. And seriously, thank you very much to Alex K for recommending it to me. He was "bang on". And speaking of banging, and Alex K, you should check out his "Baker's Dozen" sometime. I have no idea how the Japanese girls handled it, but if you're in the USA and you want to try, it may be available for a limited time only. The interaction with this restaurant was just terrible. I ordered food and it was slated to arrive 11:55-12:05. Food came late, not that big of an issue. I ordered during rush hour lunch time so somewhat expected. After unpacking, came to find out a bagel with eggs was missing from the order. Naturally I try to call back to let them know that an item was missing. For 40 minutes, the phone was either busy, random message about "bestnumbers.com" or it would ring and no one would answer. Cue to 40 minutes later and someone finally picks up. I tell them a bagel is missing. They apologized and said they'd send it back out immediately. I assume this would be a quick process as what is suppose to be 40 min for an order is already turning into a 2 hour ordeal. 45 minutes pass and nothing. I call back, person says the driver is outside my work. At this point, I'm expecting it within the next minute. Another 10 minutes passes before he finally comes in to drop off my food. Definitely not what I expected. While I understand the lunch hour rush and mistakes happens, it should not take almost an hour and half to get a bagel back to a customer. read more

Hand rolled deliciousness...crispy outside, warm, soft delectable inside. I LOVE these bagels, and they know how much everyone does since the prices are on the rise. $1.50 for a buttered bagel is a bit steep, but these days everything worth anything with cost you more than you really want to pay. Great selection of spreads, ( favorite being the lox cream cheese, in their version their are actual pieces, chunks of smoked salmon). The coffee is just okay, don't know if it pales in comparison to the bagels, or if it just isn't that great...either way the bagels are the reason to visit. read more
