Came here with the family on a summer Saturday afternoon and sat in the covered patio extension. It had an old school, old eclectic diner feel, with Christmas decorations still up where we sat. That gave us pause, but we were sat right away in the middle of lunchtime in a full house, so we felt fortunate - and we were famished! Service was quick, efficient and polite! We ordered the BLT, Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and 2 and 2 egg, sausage and pancakes combo. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. My son didn't put syrup on his cinnamon roll pancakes, which is almost unheard of but always a good sign. The BLT was loaded with bacon, and the sausage was thick and flavorful. Would definitely recommend and will be back. It cost about $20 per person just FYI and is CASH ONLY.

I had the Dutch Pancakes that were served with whipped strawberry, pumpkin, and cinnamon butter. The pancakes were ultra fluffy. The menu says they are "famous" pancakes and I would not doubt it! We went after a visit to the Brooklyn Museum. A 7 minute walk. Highly recommend!
A true community staple and the recipe is simple: at home like service, amazing food, large portion sizes and FAST!! That's what Tom's is. No gimmicks, no influencers. Straight to the point FOOD. Cash only but there's an atm on site. I loved the cherry mix. I got the chocolate cake French toast yummy. Home fries, omelet, bacon. Classic mixed with razzle dazzle. Waiters work together as a true team. There was no line when we went mid morning on a Wednesday. Great for families, singles, EVERYONE
this was my first time trying tom's diner. i arrived on a weekend around 3 pm and ordered the eggs florentine. the food was honestly incredible. i also sampled pancakes and a sandwich. everything felt very hearty, homemade and was perfect for a weekend brunch. the interior of the restaurant has a very close-knit, warm and welcoming appearance. i really enjoyed my lunch/brunch here. of note, i didn't have to wait for a party of four. the place is cash only so just plan beforehand. i would hundred percent come back & i strongly recommend trying the pancakes.

This review is for take-out. I ordered a mushroom and cheese omelette with home fries and turkey sausage on the side. They gave only one sausage split down the middle and for 8$... I can walk to the grocery store and get a whole pack of sausages for that price. Everything was severely under-seasoned and dry. And the home fries had a strange chemical aftertaste. I'm pretty saddened by my delivery experience since I've gone in person and had their sweet potato pancakes and was blown away by how moist and fluffy they were. Maybe their sweet breakfast items are better than their savory dishes.
Great food and service! The waiter was super nice and the ambience was cozy. We found parking easily. Would definitely go again!
A solid diner with very generous portions in Brooklyn. We made the mistake of both ordering an eggs dish + french toast/pancakes, and were stunned to see so much food come out and weren't getting close to finish. Food was decent; the scrambled eggs came out more like a omelet (??) and fries tasted frozen but the pork sausage was pretty good. French toast I felt wasn't particularly special and even if I wasn't already so full likely wouldn't get it again. Great value for the meal, but compared to other diners I've been around the city not my personal favorite - still a super vibey place and will likely come back. BTW - cash only
In NY visiting my favorite person and she suggested this place for breakfast. This is the definition of a mom and pop spot. Very small inside but the food slapping. They have a bit of outdoor space as well but it was a soggy Saturday so we opted for inside. It was packed, I would say no more than 25ppl capacity, but surprisingly we waited less than 15mins for seating for 3. At noon on a Saturday you can't ask for more than that. We had: My friend - streusel pancakes - 10/10 the minute I bit into this pancake I realized I made the wrong choice. The pancake was light and sweet even without syrup. Me - BBQ blue burger - 7/10 - it was juicy and the size was worth the price for sure. I give it a 7/10 because it wasn't a meal and the burger could've been seasoned better. You only get the burger but can add lettuce, tomato and fries for an additional $6. We both had some lemonade mix, I wish I could but they were both good, not overly sweet but refreshing. I'd def come back and try their lemon pancakes, the description for these sounded divine.

I've had better huevos rancheros honestly, and should've opted for one of their omelette as instead. The pancakes and bacon were excellent and hit the spot. Service was chill and polite. Will definitely come back and try some of their lunch items next time.
Just your neighborhood restaurant with some down home cooking. I wanted to come on here and shoutout the exceptional customer service. Although the food was good, the cherry on top was the host and server.

The vibe is very old school, 1960's greasy spoon, with letterboard signs and a long breakfast bar countertop. There are tables for sitting at as well, in case you plan on having a group of people dining in. The food has an old school taste to it as well. Humongous pancakes that are fluffy and full of that flavor that only a greasy spoon can create. Two is the perfect amount. Three might work, but after that you are asking to be put in a food coma. The bacon (I got turkey) is thick and juicy and plentiful. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The eggs are a bit runny but taste good as well. Pretty hard to screw up eggs, but I have been to restaurants where they have, so never say never. The rest of the menu items look completely satiable. Pricey, but I could eat the whole menu if not for the fact I am not made of money and am mortal, just like the rest of you (sorry if I offended the robots). Now if only they took credit cards, I would be here almost every weekend (disregarding it takes two trains for me to get here). Tables also go fast, and they close early, so come early or during an off time. Your stomach will be thankful.

What a diner! It is super homey with a classic diner feel and kitschy wall decor. I was initially a bit intimated by the line outside but we didn't wait very long, even on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the 2 by 2 by 2 combo with cinnamon roll pancakes. The pancakes are incredible. They're fluffy and sweet and don't need any syrup - perfection! read more

The place was packed as it always is; a line to get in and seated so they must be doing something right. My pancakes were delicious and fluffy so go for the pancakes if nothing else. My friend's crab cake Benedict...well, you can see the picture, it was fried to all hell and I don't even know what that was supposed to be on top...cheese? Sauce? Cheese sauce? No clue and I didn't even want to taste it. Our server was polite and kept the coffee coming. It's cash only and the ATM was broken so that was a huge pain in the ass, but it was nice to say I visited the Toms Diner from the Suzanne Vega song and they have the lyrics and other cool stuff on the walls. We love diners! I found this one in a search and we walked almost 2 miles to get here and it was worth it! The greeter was super nice, we were able to seat ourselves in a booth in the back and the decor is what you'd expect in a diner that's been been around since 1939 -- funky and interesting. Nice size menu but not overwhelming. I had two eggs over easy, sausage and an English muffin... My husband had the pancake and scrambled eggs and sausage aka "the 2 x 2 x 2. " My coffee was perfect! And you can get it with cream or milk. They also brought us a plate of lightly spread peanut butter and honey toast to gnosh on while we waited for our meal. Inexpensive and delightful! It's cute. It's crowded. It's Brooklyn. Love this diner in Crown Heights. Get there early for Sunday brunch or be prepared to wait. The booths are so cute. Love the original booths with cushioned seats and black and white checkerboard floor. Too crowded on a Sunday morning to sit on a red swivel seat for counter service. Outside dining is available, too. The menu...too many choices! Sweet? Savory? Pancakes, eggs, bennies, fish cakes, pastrami, reuben, bagel and many, many more. The reuben on rye with a side of fries was so delicious. Piled high with corned beef with a kosher dill spear. Ask for a side of Russian dressing. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light and fluffy. Served with three different small containers of flavored butters. The homemade strawberry and blueberry are so good. Carlos was a great server. Bring cash. Nice place for a stop for Sunday brunch in Brooklyn. read more
Growing up in CA, we as a family loved going to diners. Nothing brings a greater smile to my face than finding a really good diner, with a welcoming ambiance and great tasting food! And that's what Tom's brings! Since living in NYC for the last 5-years I've been in search of the best in diners, and I have to say Tom's is one of the best I've come across! The food is delicious, plentiful, and I love the ambiance! It's like having breakfast at home, something a great diner must exhibit to me! My wife and I have decided to make Tom's an annual Christmas holiday treat! Lastly, the staff were very friendly, accommodating and hard working, as it gets SUPER busy there! I had no idea I was walking into a legend of a diner. This place is absolutely top notch and has quickly risen to my favorite diner I've been to. A few things to keep in mind, it's a walk in type place and you might have to wait upwards of 30 min. It's also cash only but they have an ATM inside. That being said, this old school joint is absolutely a bucket list worthy place. I was feeling adventurous and went with the cinnamon roll pancakes, an iced coffee and home fries. Wowie-wow-wow. Those pancakes are dreamy, decadent and worth blowing away my calorie goals for the week. The attention to detail of adding the swirl on the actual pancakes while keeping their fluffy but rich texture is just amazing. They also offer multiple types of butter to pair with your sweet dishes. Just amazing. I also really enjoyed my home fries as they were well seasoned and it was nice to break up some sweetness with a bit of savory. The service was amazing and so friendly. You feel part of the family when you walk in. It's very old school and homey. I will be bringing any friends and visiting family here from now on. 5/5 read more

I've been coming here since 1981. Returning, at times, over multiple years abroad and it NEVER disappoints when you want a hardy breakfast with a #trulyBrooklyn vibe. The Piano Man is playing in the background and the Diner is humming with conversation. The food is great, the service is spectacular, honestly, high end for a little Mom-n-Pop Shop! If you are starving, looking for sim homemade tasting food then Tom's the place. Nothing fancy just some good ole eating. The service was exceptional. Get there early because this place gets packed. If you want to beat the line sit at the bar, again, nothing fancy just good food. The portions massive (great thing), prices are reasonable. Be sure to take cash. If you do not have cash, they have an ATM with a reasonable fee (less than $3). I would go back. The food was too good. The only reason I wouldn't give them a five is it's not cute, but who cares. I came here for Sunday brunch. We got lucky since we came in at 11 and there was no line. Usually there is one winding down the street. Note that this place is cash only and takes no reservations. We came in and we were seated in 10 mins as soon as our whole party showed up. The restaurant is cute, has an old school diner vibe and I love the non matching plates and mugs we are given - feels like a home or a bnb. Some cool decor as well and they have a little covered outside space as well as the restaurant itself. The food was good- very Midwestern feeling diner food. I loved the strudel pancake and the sweet potato waffle and I also liked the corned beef hash, its the best I've had in a very long time. Portions are large so best to share. If I'm ever feeling nostalgic for old school traditional American food I'll be back! They have lots of tables and seat you pretty quickly. Mostly the tables seat about 6 - slightly a tight squeeze I've tried the pancakes here and recommend the blueberry ricotta. I also liked how they do the pastrami and the crab cakes. I love how they do three little butters - strawberry, pumpkin and cinnamon. The wait staff comes to you quickly and brings the food out Quickly as well. This place is a hidden gem! My friend recommended this place to me so we came to eat here to start our day. I must say I love this little place. Upon walking in on a rainy day, the place was packed. There was a line for people to wait to be seated. The place has a certain charm with all the trinkets and decorations. It's a cozy feel for this hole in the wall. We both ordered the 2 egg 2 pancake combo. They served homemade style pancakes that were delicious. Eggs and bacon was served with it and I got coffee in which they keep your cup filled. (Coffee refill). My friend had the same thing and she ordered grits. They placed a piece of cheese on top that melted over her grits. The only thing is they only take cash. They have an ATM on sight. It was a crowded Saturday afternoon but we got seated almost right away, everybody was so warm and welcoming and friendly! I loved the staff here! They recommended the cinnamon roll pancake and it was amazing!!! I'm usually a savory brunch person and never get sweets, but my friend wanted it and it was out of this world. Also I loved the crab cakes & eggs!!! The crab cakes had pieces of crab in them and fried to perfection. Sweet potato waffle was just okay, but they kept the coffee coming and we left very satisfied. Weird the line is not as long as it used to be. It was about Saturday around 11am and the wait is 20 minutes for a table of four. Food is delicious as usual. I had the Mexican omelette and definitely get the fries. They have the best fries in America to be honest. We got pancake, egg Benedict and something else. Coffee is like a good old diner coffee in the familiar cup. Service can't be better. The waiter is full of energy and love the smile. We got our order fast and correct. He gave us extra sauce and refill on coffee. It's very tight spot and I would just have one person wait inside until the table is ready. read more
I was initially taken aback by how dirty this restaurant is. The floor is filthy. I ignored my better judgment and ate here because it was late in the day and I had a craving for pancakes for a week. I ordered fluffy pancakes, beef sausage and coffee. The half and half for my coffee came with a fruit fly floating in it. So I nixed the coffee. Flies were happily flying around the restaurant. the pancakes were dry and fell apart and the beef sausage was ok. They didn't fry it hard enough. You know how beef sausages pop in your mouth when fried just right? This sausage didn't do that. I was hungry so I ate about 1/3 of the pancakes. The bottled water I brought helped me swallow those dry ass suckers. I came here because of the reviews. Yelpers missed the mark on this spot. read more
I've had this brunch spot known for their pancakes on my list for a while. I finally had a chance to go with a small group of friends. We only had to wait a short time until we were seated in the back area for outdoor dining. There were still Christmas decorations up, which gave the place a fun, festive feel. I was having a tough time deciding between Danish Pancakes, or Crab Cakes Florentine. My friends urged me to go with the pancakes, since that is their claim to fame. I ordered the Danish Pancakes and was satisfied with my choice. I also asked for a side of Hash Browns, which I did not enjoy, so I sent them back and got some Crab Cakes instead. The Hash Browns were too soft for me and the seasonings had a weird taste to them. The Danish Pancakes had zest of lemon, ricotta, Parmesan cheese, and blueberries. This was served with homemade flavored butters and maple syrup. They were delicious! There were yummy bits of blueberry throughout, which were juicy, as well as sweet, and slightly tart. There was strong taste of lemon and ricotta, which was a lovely mix. I couldn't discern much of the Parmesan flavor, but I didn't mind that. Crab cakes were simply delectable. They were delightfully crispy, well seasoned, with great crab taste. They came with a savory, spicy, and creamy remoulade sauce, which was so good that I kept dipping into it, even though it was too spicy for me. To end the meal, I had Tom's Famous Egg Cream - I chose the chocolate flavor. Despite the name, there is actually no egg in this drink. This cold beverage consists of milk, carbonated water, and chocolate syrup. It was topped with a beautiful dollop of whipped cream and heavy sprinkling of cinnamon. Mmmm. Quite tasty, very light and fizzy, just the right amount of sweetness, creamy and velvety smooth. Service was decent. The waiters were pleasant and kind. I would consider returning to try the Cinnamon Swirl Pancake with Frosting (or Fall Special Pumpkin Walnut Cinnamon Roll Pancake) and the Sweet Potato Pancake, as well as Tom's Famous Cherry Lime Rickey. read more

My husband and I were in the area and we were like, "OMG, that's the Seinfeld diner." For those who are fans of the show, you'll know that the exterior of Tom's was used at the exterior of Monk's but the actual interior was shot in LA. The fact that it's just a regular diner makes it all the more appealing I think. It's literally just like any other diner in the city, but it's the Seinfeld diner, so it makes it super popular. When we got there, there was like a 10-15min wait. The place was crowded AF. It is obviously super popular. We waited for about 15 min and were seated. Because it's a diner, service is super fast. And it obviously has a high turnover because the food comes out fast and they bus your tables really fast as well. It's impressive that they can serve so many people and remain efficient without messing anything up. My husband is going to graduate school in the area so if we end up moving there, I feel like we'd become regulars. Go check it out and say you went to the Seinfeld Diner! read more

Alan, only street parking nearby. Residential neighborhood. Depends on when you go but we went during weekend. It's going to take you some time or some walking. Meters on the main streets.
