Stopped for brunch at Salts cure as I've been meaning to try their pancakes and it's close by. Finally, I'm happy to report that they were very good. Soft, delicate and piping hot. I went for the maple variant. I also ordered the hash brown and while it was good, I probably wouldn't get it again. The environment was pleasant and service was attentive. You pay upfront so that makes for quick servicing and exiting once done. I'll definitely be back to try other pancake variants, namely the apple (pink lady). If you haven't been, what are you waiting for?! Don't be like me. ;-)

This restaurant was such a memorable experience! The pancakes are life changing!! I can't think of another restaurant that makes them close to the same. The food was just so fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and the food came out quick. This was a fun place to experience and the returns itself is cleanly and cute. Next time I'm in town I will definitely be back!

Glad they now have a location in Brooklyn! I've been wanting to go to their WV location, but just never made it out They're known for their oatmeal griddle cake, which I had no idea what to expect. Since it was our first time, they recommended getting the OG, which was a great choice! The pancakes are a little crisp on the edges, slightly sweet, and not dry/cakey but is a little more on the wet side in the center (but not in a bad way). Since they're already sweet, you don't need any extra syrup. We also got a side of eggs for protein and the sausage egg & cheese sandwich. My husband liked the sandwich, but I could've done without it since the pancakes were definitely the star. Can't wait to try the other flavors next time

I definitely had high expectations for this place because of their famous griddle cakes. I ended up trying the pink lady apple griddle cakes with a side of scrambled eggs, but got to try the chocolate chip, OG, and banana walnut as well. I think the OG tasted the best because there was a balance of sweetness from the griddle cakes and saltiness from the butter. However, the group consensus was that the pancakes were just way too sweet. Texturally, they are also very one note with no crispy edges. But the scrambled eggs were great! Service was pretty fast, and the wait was not over an hour.

This is a smaller location, but it's got such a cozy feel right across from a park and flower shop, which makes grabbing breakfast here such a treat. We stopped by for breakfast while walking our dog, so we sat outdoors. The menu is simple with the oat griddle pancakes being the star of the show. They come in various flavors, but we opted for the OG ($10) with a side of Hashbrowns ($5). The pancakes are not too sweet and don't make you feel overstuffed like regular pancakes. They also don't come with syrup as the batter is already infused with molasses and butter. I enjoy the edges, though could be crispier in my opinion. The hashbrown here is amazing though being the crispiest brick of shredded potatoes you'll have. It's plated aesthetically over ketchup already too. This was the perfect light breakfast to share for two. I like their outdoor seating for the pups and everything was reasonably priced for delicious food.

I may just not be the biggest fan of griddle cakes? They were a big soggy and flat for my taste, although I loved the flavors (got the OG and blueberry). The eggs were the best part of the meal imo. Fantastic service as well.

Love the vibe. Real chill... the hash browns are amazing and the pancakes, whichever one... Amazing. I went two mornings in a row just to make sure I was right about this place. It is a must try on my list... Live, love and laugh - Sha

Finally made it back here and still love it just as much as before, if not more! We arrived just after 9am on a Sunday and were seated immediately. In the past, I've always had to wait a while because of how popular this place is, so I was very pleased to not have to wait! A long line formed shortly after we were seated, meaning we got there at the perfect time. You have to order your food at the register/counter before sitting down, and everyone in my 5-person group ordered the OG pancakes, as well as a few coffees. We were served within 5-8 minutes of ordering. Everything was absolutely delicious! The pancakes are so tasty and fluffy, and I love the little butters they put on top. These are truly the tastiest pancakes I've ever had! I also love how there are vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options on the menu. For instance, you can make any of the pancakes gluten free for an extra $2. The employees are also very friendly! There is typically only 1 person working the register and seating people, 2-3 people in the open kitchen making the pancakes/other food, and 2-3 people bussing the tables. It's a small space, but everyone does a good job and helps the restaurant run smoothly. I can't wait to come back!

I've seen this place online and was skeptical of the no syrup but honestly, the oatmeal griddle pancakes were delicious and didn't need them. I tried chocolate chip and definitely want to try the other flavors. Sides were all good as well and service was quick and friendly. Would return again.

A really yummy and solid spot for breakfast foods, particularly for their special oatmeal pancakes! It's a small menu, which always alleviates my decision anxiety and the prices are decent. I initially thought oatmeal pancakes meant they were regular pancakes with some oats, but it is more similar to fully cooked oatmeal! The edges and exterior of the pancake is thin and almost crunchy, but these middle is much thicker and filled with gooey oatmeal. The pancakes are quite filling, though they also taste a bit homogenous throughout so it's helpful to order some other sides to balance out the flavors. I really enjoyed my OG pancakes, though it may not be for everyone. The hash brown was okay but not that special (besides in presentation). I did enjoy and highly recommend the pork sausage! There's always a big ol line around brunch time on the weekend, and it's a pretty compact space. As a group of 5, we waited maybe an hour before we were seated, so beware! Took a star off as the prices we were charged for the pancakes did not match the menu. Don't love that, and it should certainly be flagged by staff when ordering if that's the case.

Breakfast by Salt's Cure in Carroll Gardens is the newest installment of the LA Salt's Cure concept serving their famous oatmeal griddle cakes in casual digs. We walked down from Brooklyn Heights for a a weekend breakfast and ordered the OG griddle cakes with molasses butter and sides of custardy scrambled eggs, pork sausage patties and an impressively thicc hash brown. While we were initially disappointed with the West Village location relative to what we had in LA, this Carroll Gardens location seems to have nailed the crispy on the outside but soft in the center griddle cake texture. Our new favorite, affordable breakfast option in BK that we will be frequenting on a monthly basis

Came here for a late breakfast and left sooo satisfied! Usually the line to be seated is pretty long, but considering we came at 2:30pm - we got seated pretty quick as one of the last groups before closing! Their dining style required customers to order from a counter where the cashier guides the purchase through an iPad! Then, you receive your receipt and number, and choose your own seat. My boyfriend and I chose a seat outside, which the server kindly got cleaned up for us super fast! Their service was great. For $18 each, the original breakfast was well worth it! You get eggs (either scrambled, sunny side up, etc), breakfast sausage, and oat griddle pancakes. This platter was very fulfilling - I honestly felt like I o could've split one with my boyfriend with another side of eggs and sausage. Totally returning here some day!

Vibe: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Value: 7.7/10 OG Griddle cakes: 9.8/10 - these are SOOO good. Our favorite pancakes in the city so far. They're rich, so it was a good idea for us to split them! Eggs over easy: 7/10 (not many ways you can mess this up or make it extraordinary haha) Chicken sausage: 7/10 Hashbrown: 8/10 Toast: 8/10 You order at the counter and then take a seat - but the line moves quickly!! [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical] Overall: 7.9/10 (3.9/5)

I chose this place because I had visited a few times in the past and expected a positive environment. While there, I ran into an old friend who was accompanying individuals with special needs. They informed us about the R&B karaoke event, and we attempted to participate respectfully and supportively. Unfortunately, after participating, the DJ became rude and dismissive. My friends decided not to continue because each time they attempted to request a song, the DJ was unkind and impatient, seemingly unaware--or unconcerned--that they were individuals with special needs. The situation escalated when I attempted to calmly address the disrespect. Instead of listening, the bartender repeatedly accused me of being drunk simply because I was defending myself after a rude comment. I was not intoxicated; I was advocating for respectful treatment. Even the DJ's own companion appeared visibly shocked by the comment made toward me, as if anticipating a reaction. I remained composed and professional despite being deeply upset. What disappointed me most was the staff's decision to defend the DJ's behavior rather than acknowledge how inappropriate and disrespectful the interaction was. This reflects poorly on how this establishment treats people--especially those who deserve patience, understanding, and dignity. I came expecting an enjoyable brunch experience and left feeling ashamed for having trusted this place. It is clear that the venue prioritizes protecting mediocre DJs with minimal local popularity over treating customers with basic respect. Poor organization, lack of proper event management, and unprofessional staff behavior made this experience unacceptable. I have visited many establishments and have never felt so disrespected. I will not be returning.

Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.
