Scrambled eggs, pork sausage, arugula salad
    Daniella F.

I have been dreaming about the oatmeal pancakes since I've left. A little gooey on the inside with crispy edges. They were unlike any pancake that I've ever had and I'm ready to make a trip back to NYC. The pork sausage was phenomenal. Tasted so fresh. Perfect saltiness and balanced well with the sweetness of my pancakes! Hell even the scrambled eggs were worth bragging about! Do you see that deep yellow?! I mean are the chickens in the back?! I'm so happy my friend suggested we stop through here. She said it's very hard to get a seat on a weekend, so we lucked up. Overall, this is a great hole in the wall spot that I would've never guessed served up meals like this.

The griddlecakes are amazing here! Service was quick and easy and as always, the griddle cakes were so tasty. The seating is great for small groups. And the back patio area is going to be amazing for the summer. Can't wait to go back!

As far as breakfast goes, salts cure does it well. The star of the show is definitely their griddle cakes and I went with their OG, along with scrambled eggs and homes fries. The eggs are on the runnier side and the home fries are salted well. The griddle cakes are tasty, with crispy edges and cakey. They are topped with butter, already sweet on their own don't require any more syrup. There's gonna be a wait for this popular spot but the turnaround is quick and they're pretty efficient and it's worth the wait.

My first time here was at Carroll Garden's location and today was my first time at this location. Nothing different about the two, very consistent. LOVE the OG pancakes but they are a bit soft due to it being oatmeal. However, I love them and the butter on top! They can be made dairy free and GF which is great, the only diary used is the butter. Next time I'll try the banana walnut one for maybe more texture. Also got the chicken sandwich. It's delicious but it came out a little burnt today. Otherwise it's a great dish. I do want to try their eggs. They look so fresh and fluffy. Great place to grab breakfast/lunch with quick service! The outdoor space at Prospect Heights location is still not open but once it is it'll be nice to have more spots available. The Carroll Gardens location is small and always a long wait.

What a great concept. My first time at a Salt's Cure....and this will fit in just perfectly in the 'hood. Counter service concept so order find a seat and they will bring it to you. That popular concept is popping up all over. Tried the OG and the cinnamon butter is just sweet enough on the soft griddle cakes. Also got the soft scramble which was cooked perfectly. The sausage looked very appealing too. Prices seem reasonable not crazy high.

Salt Cure is a unique breakfast spot, offering oatmeal griddle cakes instead of the usual pancake or waffle. Service was friendly and we got the food pretty quick! We got some soft scrambled eggs, homestyle fries, chicken sausage, and the OG oatmeal griddle. Everything was tasty! They have drip coffee that was pretty decent, so not the best spot if you want a latte, BUT it is the best spot if you want delicious oatmeal griddles.

Wasn't super excited for another breakfast spot until I tried this place! Welcome to my life oatmeal griddle cakes! They were both crispy on the outside and soft inside. The butter on the OG was yummy. Can't say I wouldn't still like to put syrup on these bad boys, though you won't get it here. Good size portion and was enough for 2 of us. Prices are on par with what you are getting. Love the order at the counter, don't sit until you order concept which made the service quick. Staff are friendly and helpful. Also, may seem minor but props for the Cholula on all the tables! There is a nice outdoor sitting area as well which is great for this time of year. Can't wait to come back and try some other menu items!

So...I wanted to and was expecting to like this place and to be fair, there were a lot of positives but the star of the show should be the pancakes and if you don't like the pancakes...well. I mean the edges were crispy and I loved the cinnamon butter the original came with (don't think they gave enough butter though) but they had this really weird and off-putting aftertaste that we couldn't get past no longer how hard we tried (cinnamon butter masked it pretty well but that just meant I ran out of butter real quick). Had no idea what it was but my sister and I couldn't finish our pancakes because of it. There was also a pretty long wait (idk why all those reviews were saying the line moves quickly, that was NOT our experience). Now the scrambled eggs were good and the home fries were decent but nothing to write home about either. Our main issue was the pancakes themselves but I haven't heard anyone else mention anything wrong with them so maybe we got an off batch?

This place has some of the best griddle pancakes in the city. If you've never had an oatmeal griddle pancake before, you're in for a treat -- they're made with oats, so they come out extra fluffy and filling, with soft centers and perfectly crispy edges. The cinnamon butter on top is the real game-changer, adding just the right amount of sweetness and warmth. Another thing I really appreciate is the way they handle service -- you pay up front, so there's no long wait for the check at the end. It keeps the line moving quickly and makes the whole experience much smoother, especially on busy mornings. All in all, it's a great spot for breakfast or brunch, bright and welcoming-definitely a neighborhood go-to. If you're nearby, this is one of those places worth making part of your routine.

OG and apple pancakes great. Potatoes solid. But definitely the pancakes. Can't go wrong. Never had griddle pancakes before. Great 1st time experience

TL;DR version- Some high highs and some very low lows. Hot Figs was a fun app. By a mile, the soups…read morewere the favorites, so I would recommend the Pepián or Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

The setup is a little different from a full-service restaurant. You order at the counter, let the staff know if you're dining in or getting your order to go. If dining in, then find a table and wait for your name to be called. If you're seated farther away, they'll usually bring your food to you. For drinks, it's best to stay near the baristas towards the front of the store since those are typically called out separately. I ordered the Madeline omelette without the jalapeños. It was good overall but it could have used a little more salt. I also tried the matcha latte (which tasted a bit too milky) and I had to add extra sweetener, so I'd probably try a different drink next time. The pastries, especially the apple strudel and Boston cream donut, were both really good. Highly recommend the apple strudel.
