Yummy fluffy pancakes! I loved the dulce de leche butter top, they were so airy and only needed a drizzle of syrup. The bacon was nice and crispy, the eggs were flavorful. The star is really the pancakes, the eggs and bacon are good but nothing you couldn't get from another cafe or diner. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it was so expensive!! I know this is NYC but $20 for run of the mill pancakes eggs and bacon from a coffee shop feels kind of insane to me. I remember this the last time I went here for the kimchi fried rice, but it's always a good amount of food but not a generous portion for just slightly too much. Even if they knocked a couple dollars off I'd feel better. Yummy, but I live right nearby and this is one reason I don't find myself stopping by as much as I should. read more

Stopped in for a coffee and almost every seat was filled at 2:30pm on a Tuesday, which I take as a good sign! I got an iced mocha (which can sometimes be a risk) but it was the perfect amount of chocolate/oat milk/espresso. Not overpowering and still delicious. I elected for a Cortado and the Pork Hash. My guest had the chorizo tacos with scrambled eggs and a maple latte. The flavors in both my hash and the chorizo tacos were phenomenal. This is a loong overdue review, but a friend and I stopped by here during our visit to Brooklyn and we enjoyed everything about our meal! On the morning of, we were in the mood for something savory and spontaneous before our flight back to San Diego. Thankfully, Colina Cuervo was about an 8 min walk from our Airbnb in Crown Heights. The restaurant itself is located conveniently near Eastern Pkwy (one of the busier streets in the neighborhood). There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but seats do fill up quickly when it's rush hour. My friend and I decided to sit outside since at the time, that was the only table available lol, but we both agreed that we didn't mind the occasionally people-watching as we shared a meal. From the moment we ordered to when we were seated, our cashier/ waiter was attentive and made us feel at home. I believe my friend ordered coffee and some empanadas. As for myself, the drink I got was okay; however, the tacos I got were memorable--this is not easy to admit coming from someone who's from San Diego and spoiled with the cuisine here, so kudos to y'all for doing it so well! I love Colina Cuervo. Everything I order is deliciously satisfying and always hits the spot. Highlights include the horchata latte (my fave!), chorizo torta and the pancakes with that caramel butter---it's so good! I like dining in and ordering take out. You can't go wrong either way. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is the lack of consistency. This is a place where each dish may taste differently depending on the day you order/who is cooking. This place is great! they have about 10 tables and it gets crowded by about 10.30. Tables are for sharing and they have a fun and cute space. I loved the new take on some traditional breakfast dishes. I got the horchata latte, which is definitely on the sweet side, so ask for some extra coffee to go with it and smooth out the sweet. I also got the pork hash and I highly recommend this, its got a great combination of textures- crispy pork, round hominy, pickled jalapenos and pickled onions. Comes with a poached egg on top and makes for a fantastic breakfast. I asked for a side of a dulce de leche butter and I recommend that everyone gets this cos its simply fabulous. Get a pancake or something to put it on as well. My friends tried the granola and yogurt- which was really thick and very much a meal since I think they hung out some greek yogurt, and also the sandwich with avocado scrambled egg and chorizo- this is really spicy and I can handle my spice, so watch it if this is your order. I'm not going back. Decided to give them another shot. This Hispanic man that seemed like the owner (he was working the register and training a barista) put a coffee cup on top of one of the machines drinking-end down. When I said I didn't want that cup, he asked why. I told him there was dust up here. He rolled is eyes, shook his head, said wow and took out a different cup for me. He then proceeded to put the other cup back to be used for the next person. Service is always friendly and though on the pricey side, the consumables are always fresh and delicious. I ordered obligatory avocado toast and it was just wonderful - not too salty, bread was seemingly baked fresh, and poached egg was cooked to perfection. Horchata latte is a MUST-TRY but I ordered a flat white (pictured). It tasted better than it looked which I thought would be impossible. Further, unlike cocoa grinder or other coffee shops on Nostrand, they guys open early and consistently. That means something for the neighborhood. Cannot recommend enough. I was shocked when I saw the corn muffin/cupcake with dulce de leche buttercream frosting and sesame seed sprinkles. Took me a minute to process. My Puerto Rican mother loves cornbread. The combination I have never witnessed but sounded like it made tons of sense. Ate that while I waited for my sandwich. Fresh and delicious. They brought my sandwich to the table in a to go bag instead of a plate by accident but it worked out because after the corn cake I couldn't finish it. Good size, big sandwich. It was so clean. The breaded chicken wasn't oily at all. The hibiscus lemonade is more hibiscus than lemonade in taste. Not sure if I was suppose to add my own sugar. Overall I was wildly impressed. Second time here and the quality of my experience hasn't changed a tad. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Met up with two friends for brunch and while we had a tiny wait (15-20 mins prob), it was well worth it. I had the pancakes with scrambled eggs (very dry which they did perfectly) and with a side of avocado. Another friend had the same but had bananas instead of avocado. The best café in the area. Ticket times are slightly longer in wait time, but that is only due to the freshness and quality of the food served. Staff is always very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and service is always prompt and efficient. Whether grab and go, or sit down, I've yet to have a bad interaction in my 3 years of regularly visiting. I got the Plato Ecuatoriano which came with a delicious piece of skirt steak (I only wish there was more!) and a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. Definitely a modern take on a classic American steak and eggs. If you're really into runny yolks and meat, this is the dish for you. My friend got the mushroom melt, which tasted even better than it looked, and that is saying something. The mushroom flavor they achieved in this sandwich was really amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am not even a huge mushroom fan. The sandwich has a garlicky, creamy chimichurri sauce that takes it over the top. Next time I'm gunna go for the slow roasted pork sandwich for lunch. I'm excited to come back and further explore their menu. read more

Went here for brunch with my grandmother and mom. Although busy, the food was worth the wait and the servers were really friendly! I had the iced horchata and avocado toast (both are vegan), both were refreshing to have on a hot day. My mother and grandmother both got cappuccinos, avocado toast with poached egg, and the ensalada de la casa, and enjoyed every bite of it. While waiting for our food, due to it being a busy hour when we came & it taking awhile, our server gave us a carrot cake on the house, which was lovely and showed the care to their customers. 10/10 and can't wait to come again, next time I visit BK. read more

I stopped in here with my friend on a Sunday, which just so happened to be Mother's Day because the places we intended to go were packed due to it being the holiday. She said that she'd been here a few times and liked the calm atmosphere. This place is another in a stream of recent to new business slowly filling up the major avenues through Crown Heights. I say that with loathe but also appreciation for business upstarts. It seems as though it'd be a really nice chill spot to sit near a window and get work done of your laptop or iPad etc; the kind of place you see in movies where the lead character goes to write their soon-to-be best selling novel and think about getting their ex-lover back. This place does however scream gentrification; the type that makes you say, where do all of these people live/come from? I normally don't see them out here. At the same time, I live across the parkway, so maybe I'm the outsider *shrugs*. The staff was pretty responsive, seeing as there were about 3 servers in a cozy dining hall area. There were a couple communal tables for six and then small tables for two and counter in the window. Also there's some cushions in the corner by the window for that faithful work-from-home but actually at your favorite local cafe type. Nevertheless, I looked forward to some good Latin American cooking. I did the pancakes with chorizo and scrambled eggs with cheese. They aren't really ones for scrambling cheese into eggs. The waitress offered me cheddar which I gladly accepted but the order did not come with cheddar; it was instead some white square chunks of some cheese that i could not quite grasp and that never really melted. Just kind of took it block by block, literally. The pancakes were filling and good enough with the syrup after borrowing a bit of extra from my friend because the pancakes really did soak it up quickly. The chorizo was had a very quick palette experience. It was a quick initial spice and savoriness that quickly fleets until you come to the next bite. The food taste fine, even good in some bites, but it's just not memorable. I hear that the coffee is good but I don't drink it. I wouldn't be against coming back again, but I just probably wouldn't. read more

There was a bit of a wait when we entered in and I'm not sure if it was due to the snow or because it's just that good BUT after our experience, I'm going to say it's a little bit of both. Once we were seated, our hostess offered to get me a chair with a back for my daughter -- which was a plus for me. It's hard enough traveling around with a young child sometimes but the fact that she took notice was so appreciated. As for our lunch, I ordered the lentil soup and a chicken empanada with the hibiscus lemonade. I ordered two guava empanadas and a hot chocolate for my MiniMe. The first thing I noticed about our orders is that the portion sizes were to die for! It seemed like that lentil soup was bottomless -- which was great for a snowy day. The hibiscus lemonade had the right amount of tart to make for a refreshing beverage. I already talked about the empanadas but I'll say it again -- THE BEST!
