Really good coffee shop on Myrtle with some solid breakfast and lunch sandwiches at truly reasonable prices. I used not to come here bc they didn't open until 9am, so Peck's was my go-to for good coffee in the morning. However, Peck's food is the exact opposite. Wildly overpriced. Everything, even down to the pastries, is 25-60% higher priced than you expect. So Calyer is a much better option if you want anything beyond coffee. Really good for the Pratt students. I tried lunch for the first time this week. Got a burger and fries. The burger was really quite tasty and under $10; it was well-prepared and had solid portions. The fries, however, are the worst in the neighborhood. I get what they are trying to do, but they are bland (cannot hold salt), not even remotely crisp, and at $7, they are honestly ridiculous. I hated that I got them. Just get frozen crinkle-cut fries and charge $2 less. You're hurting your brand by serving these, especially for $7. The staff are super friendly and are always helpful when ordering. Always have a smile, so going with four stars instead of three, even though those fries were a hard one star. read more

Not quite cheap but also not expensive either. They've got a couple seats but my assumption is they are heavy on the takeout & delivery side. I tried the balsamic greens with chicken. Loved how much apple it had. The pepitas added nice crunch although something additional crunchy would have been awesome. It was a good sized portion. And filled me up. I loveeeeee working out of Calyer so much that I often will take casual meetings there and sometimes bring a friend for lunch. The people who work there are very sweet and they're great about remembering my order. For the food, I mainly stick to the salads but that's because it is one of my favorite salad spots in the neighborhood. I typically cycle through all of the salads throughout the a month but if I happen to visit Calyer twice in a week then that means I am going back for the Balsamic Greens. (Pro tip: try it with fried chicken and thank me later). For drinks, I have tried most of the seltzers and I love their selection. They've stocked brands / flavors that I was always interested in sampling and that I ended up looking for in supermarkets after the fact. I also pop in for Cold Brew every now and then. They have a nice assortment of syrups, including lavender and maple. The coffee is decent, the salads are great, and the service is prompt, but the ambiance is hands down my favorite thing about Calyer. It is the perfect cafe for someone who loves typing things at a window bar while the sun directly warms your face and the people around you are discussing their interesting artsy Pratt projects at a normal and not obnoxious volume lol. read more

I popped in for coffee and they were out of cold brew so the cashier recommended an iced americano. After tasting it, I brought it back to the counter because it was very weak and I didn't like it. The cashier--who was lovely--was friendly when I said I didn't like it. The barista rolled their eyes. The cashier offered a latte instead and I agreed. The barista again rolled their eyes and said "well she's going to have to wait" and gestured to the other orders. Now I don't believe the customer is always right, but I was being friendly and kind. The bored, dismissive attitude was not warranted. I calmly requested a refund because I was irritated and the cashier tried to offer me something else. I ordered an iced matcha latte and a scallion cheddar scone and neither of them tasted good. For the price they charged, I was hoping for a better tasting experience. The scone was super dry and flavorless, except for the burnt cheese flavor. The match tasted mostly like tap water. It was always delicious! In the last few months the quality of the food has steadily declined. I feel like they're starting to cut corners in some ways. I live across the street and stop by frequently in the morning for a cold brew before heading to work. This afternoon I finally had the chance to try one of their lunch sandwiches. I ordered the chickpea salad sandwich, which came with curry spiced chickpeas, red onion, celery, arugula and vegan tahini ranch dressing on a great Balthazar ciabatta roll. Delicious! I personally think bread is a crucial sandwich component and all of Calyer's sandwiches come on fresh Balthazar bread, which is probably the best bakery in the city. Coffee is always solid too.
