We moved to Crown Heights right before Covid-19 hit. So happy to discover Colina Cuervo. They've become my new neighborhood coffee and breakfast take-out spot. Their iced oat milk mocha is my drink of choice. It Makes me feel like I am returning to normalcy for a moment! Favorite food items are the beef empanada (The onion salsa makes the difference), potato and chorizo tacos (I always add scrambled eggs) and the pancakes! The pancakes come with this insanely delicious homemade dulce de Leche butter. I only wish they were open seven days a week, not five. What a great find in crown heights! A delightful coffee shop that serves select breakfast/light meal options. I had the pancakes and am still drooling over the side of chorizo that came with it. The side just complimented the sweetness of the pancakes so well. The coffee was good, the staff were friendly. My only dislike about this wonderful spot was horchata. How have I not reviewed this place? I come here weekly (dare I say daily) to get coffee and when friends are in town I bring them here for breakfast. Delicious food and great coffee. They had an OFF menu soup that was amazing, I'm hoping they will bring it back, it was phenomenal. Their avocado toast is good, the bread is super thick- just as a warning to those wanting more traditional. They also have the Ecuadorian plate that has a variety of items and is salty and delicious! Tacos are tasty, but not my favorite item. The staff are friendly and helpful, making this a great place to stop if you are in crown heights. It is tiny, so on the weekend at peak times you might have to wait. However you can order coffee from the coffee bar until your table is ready. I do find their pastries (to go area) to be a bit dry, only thing I would say negative- otherwise an amazing experience. Great for to go or eating in! read more

A friend and I were meeting up at a different cafe but they closed indoor dining due to covid so we went to this spot because it was close by. The bread for the avocado toast was super hard and I found a hair in it. I have thick long hair so it definitely wasn't mine. I brought it to the counter and they thankfully refunded me for the toast. My friend got buttermilk pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and banana. She said her eggs tasted like bacon. She can not have bacon due to religious reasons and she asked the worker if they made it in the same skillet and they hesitated before saying no. The workers were nice and the drinks were good (we got a latte with oat milk and an iced latte with caramel syrup) but we wouldn't go back again. read more

I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch and really enjoy their food! The avocado toast is served on a thickkkk piece of bread and generouslyyyy topped with avocado which makes for a filling meal. I also had the lentil soup with comes with plantain chips on the side. I live on the block so I really wanted to love this place. Giving two stars because the service is good and very friendly. However, everything else is 1 star. On my first visit, the chorizo was inedibly bad, and my eggs were way undercooked. On my second visit, the baked good I got with a coffee was so dry, it had to be several days old. Had brunch here the past two weeks. I cannot stay away! If you haven't been here, you should. The food is incredible! It is some of the best food I've ordered out at a restaurant. I've tried the steak with eggs and house salad. Both were beyond amazing! Tamales are the best I've ever had. I could eat these all day, everyday. The coffee here is really top notch. I usually stick with ordering one flat white or just regular coffee a day, but I wanted another one. The espresso is incredibly rich and smooth tasting. I went here on a whim a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance is very chill and go with the flow. There were some people drinking coffee and reading, others having a full meal. The coffee was delectable and the latte came out with a nice aesthetic. The food was pleasing both to the eye and to our stomachs! Great service, nice interior, and okay food. It's what this Brooklyn spot is made of. This place offers a variety of salads and small plates. When I saw empanadas and tamales on the list, I'm sold! We got the beef empanadas and the pork tamales, and they're pretty good. However, I'd say that they run on the drier side. The empanadas doesn't have as much filling as I would like, and the tamales was rather dry. The filling itself is delicious, and is also mild. I actually prefer this for an early brunch! The two things that makes this place great is definitely the interior and service. There are plenty of open seating when we were in, and most of the people are working on their laptops. The service is good in that they were quick and very friendly! Would I come back again? Possibly. But I'll probably skip the food and stick with the coffee/tea to enjoy the nice shop with a book or two. read more

For me this is in a great location. Its a small spot but has large front windows with great light coming in. I went this weekend one of the coldest days and even with the large windows (we sat right next to) it was still warm and cozy. However, with the people coming in and how the floor plan is set up its best for parties of 4 and less. We tried the empanadas (beef &chicken) both were delicious a little pricey for me $5 ea. but tasty. The breaded chicken and the slow pork sandwich were very good. Found this little gem thanks to Yelp. I was onsite with a client down the street and wanted to grab a quick bite. Ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the tacos. So I met a friend here for breakfast the other day. I walked in and waited in line (there were 4 people in front of me). I wasn't sure how the system works as when you walk in they have a counter and then in another room they have tables in chairs but no sign of how what where to order. So wasting about 7 minutes, I waited until I was front in line and of course the employee asks, will you be dining with us? Yes. Ok take a seat we'll bring the menus to you. See?! All that could have been avoided if there was a small sign telling dining in customers to take a seat and someone will serve them. Anyways, we sit down and a waitress brings over menus but runs away so fast before we were able to at least order coffees. She comes back a few minutes later, we already knew what we wanted and order lattes, plato ecuatoriano and ensalata de la casa. My friend ordered the salad which was pretty good but my skirt steak and eggs were something I've never had before. The steak was well done, chewy, had some sort of liquid sitting on it and pretty much wasn't what I'd imagined a steak and eggs to look like (yes I've had plenty of steak and eggs). After my usual yoga class nearby at Urban Asanas (10/10 recommend), I came for brunch with my sister. She wanted vegetables, I wanted a vat of coffee- we both got what we wanted. Their seasonal veg salad is amazing: tons of different veggies with a delicious sauce. Warning, you will want a side of protein with it. I had the chorizo which was tasty but slightly too salty in addition to the dressing. They use Counter Culture coffee and have great drip as well as espresso drinks. This place is a gem in Crown Heights. Delicious, fresh baked pastries welcome you in to the cafe style entrance where the staff is always friendly and accommodating. To the left of the cafe is the quaint dining room where you can grab a table or stool to sit and enjoy your meal. There are excellent options here for everyone including pancakes, empanadas, avocado toast, sandwiches, quinoa bowls and what I believe to be to be one of the shining stars on the menu, the Plato Ecuatoriano - a delicious, succulent marinated skirt steak served with flavorful potato & annato cakes, charred scallions and sunny side eggs. I'm not an egg eater and the staff happily swaps them for avocado with no issues. This meal is so delicious and hearty, a great way to start your day! We've gone a few times and today they had a delicious special - marinated pulled pork tacos with pickled onions and salsa verde - SOOOOO flavorful! I could have eaten three orders of them. The empanadas are also really enjoyable!
