There were five of us who dropped in to La Chacra for a late lunch on a chilly, but bright Saturday afternoon. We were greeted immediately by a friendly bartender, and quickly seated. That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon. read more

Food: I've been doing takeout from here for many years, and the food is always good. My favorite is their chicken, yellow rice with beans, and green sauce. The chicken is always very flavorful and moist and the best Peruvian chicken I've had in NYC. Their other dishes such as the paella are just average, but I always return for the chicken and rice. My gf is broadening my taste buds and today I'm trying Peruvian food for the first time. This spot has a nice interior, wasn't too busy and the service was pretty quick. We ordered a variety of dishes which were all a first for me in this style, the taste was good and the drinks was refreshing. I've eaten at La Chacra before, but I always ordered the chicken for delivery and it was so delicious, especially with the green sauce. Today was my first time actually sitting down inside, and wow... it was amazing. I tried this potato stuffed with beef stew, AMAZING. And the fried rice? Omg, absolutely delicious. Not knowing what to order, but knowing that we wanted comfort food, I stumbled across La Chacra on Bath Avenue. I thought it was too good to be true from how popular it looked on Uber Eats so off to Yelp to cross reference. I really could not find anything negative about the food. In fact, the reviews were overwhelmingly glowing. So we took a chance and ordered the basics. Half rotisserie chicken, maduras, which are caramelized fried plantains and rice and beans. Boy oh boy when I tell you, this was glorious and super flavorful in its simplicity. The chicken was heavenly juicy and tender. We both loved it and I'm not really a chicken person.. The maduras and rice and beans were also exceptional. Everything was super flavorful and perfectly seasoned without being overly salty, which was a pleasant surprise. We made a reservation for this place. The restaurant is not spacious inside but overall cozy. Food is not bad though not the greatest I've had. If the rating is just based on the food, I think it could go to 4 stars. I took a star off because they charged us 20% tip already but the waiter didn't tell us that and we tipped on top of that. We only found out after we left the place. It would be nice if they just say something when they bring us the check. read more

They have good food and they do their dishes well time and time again. They get very busy so it helps if you call to make reservations. When we visited this night, we ordered: Ceviche De Pescado: Small piece of raw fish marinated in lime juice served with onios, Peruvian corn, sweet potato The Ceviche was refreshing and had good chunks of raw fish, shrimp and was a good balance of tart and spice. Lomo Saltado: Strips of skirt steak sauteed with onions, tomatoes in a soy sauce served with fries and white rice Beef was a bit tough, but we did enjoy this dish. The beef had good, deep flavor and the sauce was very well balanced. Seafood Paella: We loved this dish and honestly, every time I visit, I always order it. Definitely come and try! read more

Such a great find for Peruvian eats (credits to my coworker for recommending!) I've never dined in, always done takeout / delivery, and it's a solid meal every time. My office's go-to tends to be the roasted chicken, rice and beans, and extra green sauce. The chicken is always flavorful, green sauce is a fan favorite and can be poured on just about anything and it'll taste amazing. For my last order I tried the ceviche de pescado - so delicious! It was perfectly tangy with a great mixture of textures, the hominy thrown in along with plantain chips added a nice touch. I ended up drinking the lime-spiced juice that the fish was mixed in after I consumed everything -- it's just that good. The only downside to La Chacra is consistency. We have ordered quite a few times and found that the quality of the chicken could vary - sometimes it's dry, sometimes it's juicy. Sometimes you'll get normal portions and sometimes it kind of seems like the chicken is on the smaller side. A few times the green sauce has been too spicy for my coworkers to consume, and other times just right. Regardless of those small inconsistencies, you're guaranteed to have a great meal when grabbing food here. read more

Came here with a party of 5 on Tuesday 6:30pm and by the time we left, the place was full. I can only imagine how busy it would be on the weekends! The rotisserie chicken dish is an absolute must! It's juicy and perfectly seasoned. I do not recommend the mixed fried seafood platter, instead just get the fried fillet fish only. I also enjoyed the complimentary corn as we waited for our food and the bottles of green sauce which practically go with everything to my heart's content! As I was ordering, the waitress was responding to me in English. I found that to be a bit rude ... We ordered our drinks and although my best friend's beer came right away, my first drink took forever and a day. My second drink took even longer. We shared the papa a la huancaina and an order of anticuchos. I had to send my anticuchos stick back as there was a hair in it. The replacement came back delicious. While taking pictures of our drinks, all the waiters kept trying to take the beer bottles. It got annoying to a point ... and then they stated in order for them to serve us dessert they need to get rid of all the dinner plates! Does that make sense? The staff does not communicate with one another ... they were all over the place. And the music wasn't something you would listen to in a Peruvian restaurant, not only was it NOT typical ... it wasn't even in Spanish! SMH As far as the food, although the papa a la huancaina had a good taste, it is way too runny! What a shame. The flavors are there for both dishes. Outstanding flavors packed with a lot of Peruvian authentic seasonings.. you're gonna want to take my award for it on this one the place is tiny not that many seats so make sure you get there little bit after 5 PM. Only thing I would say is $40 for a sangria which pretty much juice you have to try their chicken Peruvian fried rice not as salty as typical Chinese rice, but still delicious. This was a nice find based only on Yelp reviews and their photos. I was looking for a neighborhood place that was not too far from home in Bay Ridge. It is not fancy by any means and it is located on a busy street near the 62 Pct. I gave them 4 stars based on the food and customer service. My intention was to have some Peruvian food which was a change from what I have been eating lately. We were a party of 3 and with the temperature outside at 98 degrees today we were looking for a nice place to cool down in doors and have a home cooked type meal. Nice selection, large portions, good prices for most choices. Our waitress Nahomey was pleasant and made good selections. They offer outside and inside dining, average prices for drinks, wine, sangria and beers. For appetizers we shared the Chicharron de Pollo 14 Boneless crispy chicken breast served with yucca, onion, tomato, lime sauce. This was a meal in itself, we also had the chicken empanadas which were deep fried Empanada, filled with chopped chicken, onion, tomato and egg. I took half of the first appetizer home it was so filling. For the main course we had the Lomo Salgado which was Strips of skirt steak sauteed with onions, tomatoes in a soy sauce served with fries and white rice. We also shared the Entraña a lo Pobre. Premium skirt steak, fries, maduros, fried egg, white rice and salad. The last entree was the Feticcini Verde with steak. This was Basil, spinach and cheese sauce topped with a grilled steak. They were all very good and we had left overs to take home. No room for desert today!!! I would recommend them and would go back when the opportunity comes up. read more
