Had the black paella and it was delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more food. The service was great and the ambiance was charming. Solid spot in the neighborhood!

We had a great Father's Day brunch/early dinner at Surfish. Service was good and the restaurant ambiance is nice although I did not see the second floor, the lower level is nice. My daughter and I shared an avocado salad, which was a great size for two or three people to share. My husband had the octopus special and finished our salad. Next, I had the hot stone steak special with garlic fries. Which was delicious. My daughter had the skirt steak with white rice and liked it very much. My husband had the rib eye with Brussels sprouts and avocado salad. My daughter had their specialty drink and my husband, their red sangria.

Actually this is the only one favorite dish

Restaurant atmosphere was good...Food was wonderful except those salmon wasn't that fresh..the ppl wasn't nice and having bad service to us maybe because we are in a big group of ppl..also Do Not bringing cake to there because overcharged $15 service fee for each cake...

Came here for dinner with friends and the food is great, tasty, and fresh. The portion might be a bit smaller compared to other Peruvian restaurants that i been to. We ordered: * Summer Nikkel Salad, it was alright * Ceviche Mixto, it was alright * Ribs, it was alright * Anticuchos, it was delicious. Worth ordering * Black Paella, it was delicious. Worth ordering * Asado, it was alright * Whole Chicken, it was tender and delicious The ambiance might be a bit dark and not able to see properly the food and the friends. Would be better if they make it more lit Overall, it was a good place to come for dinner. Perhaps will come here again in the future

We love the ceviche, especially the one in a martini glass. The food is fresh and very tasteful. To get the extra aura of the atmosphere, come during the evening time for great lighting and cozy feel. Service is just right. A must try for seafood lovers

I love this place. The food is consistently good. I had the causa nikkei and arroz con mariscos which is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. Service is friendly and the place looks good. Overall I would give Surfish Bistro a 4.3 out of 5.

I've had dinner and lunch here over a dozen times and I have never had a bad experience! All the ceviches are fresh and delicious. I have tried them all! My favorite is the Pineapple tuna. The entrees and appetizers are served in shareable portions and are very reasonably priced. The Lomo Salteado is a must try. They even have desserts like flan and chocolate lava cake. The decor is eye catching and vibrant. The vibe is intimate but can accommodate large groups as well as couples. The service is wonderful, the staff is very attentive and accommodating. I have always been greeted and welcomed as I walk through the door. The bar has lovely crafted cocktails, beer, wine and traditional Peruvian beverages. Pisco punch is my absolute fav. I haven't had Peruvian food this good since I visited Peru a few years ago! If you're ever in park slope/red hook/gowanus you should really check it out!

Our party of 6 had outstanding fish dishes - the octopus, paella and cerviche martini were memorable. The cocktails were unique and expertly prepared and the service was attentive. We didn't understand the Hot Stone Steak, which was served on a scorching hot stone that continued to cook a medium rare steak until it was well done. The chimichurri sauce that came with it was too oily to eat. My advice is to stick with the fish here and you won't be disappointed.

Food- DELICIOUS!! Service - OUTSTANDING!! I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. It was a family night out and everything from start to finish was good. We love the menu options and the unique but traditional take on Peruvian options. Oh and that pisco sour was on point! It was sucky rainy early dinner but that made for decent parking in this otherwise non existent area. I'm praying for a blessing of the parking Gods so I can run this place back!!

Came here on a Friday night to catch up with a few friends and the place was rather packed. We were brought to the bar to wait for our seats, but luckily didn't have to wait too long and were seated within 10-15 minutes. We got the ceviche tasting, pulpo anticuchero, black paella, and a whole rotisserie chicken. Ceviche tasting (Ceviche Mixto, Hamachi Tartare, Pineapple Tuna) - I loved that they had the option to try multiple ceviches. The fish was fresh, but could've been better marinated. Some pieces had no flavor. Pulpo anticuchero - Octopus was nice and tender. Black paella - The paella had an ample amount of seafood, which is pretty rare. Rice was very flavorful. The portion is plenty enough to feed 2-3 people Whole rotisserie chicken - This dish was okay. Chicken was well seasoned, but did not like the sauce that it came with. It had an overwhelming mayo flavor. Would not order again. The interior felt pretty casual. There were multiple birthday celebrations during the time that we were there.

    Duck pasta!

Great atmosphere, friendly servers and big portions! Sharing is caring here. We split two tapas, an entree and a bottle of wine. Add to that the plantains for the table, which they kindly refilled for us, we had zero room for dessert. The pork tacos were hearty, and the octopus was fantastic -- I would definitely get the octopus again. Presentation was very nice. The pasta was pappardelle, a duck leg ragu with shitake, oysters and portobello and peas. Very good! Definitely something to split and would be amazing as comfort food on a cold day. I'd definitely return if I'm looking for dinner in the area again!

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing due to confusion around happy hour pricing. We visited around 1 PM and specifically confirmed with staff that certain drinks and our ceviche would be charged at happy hour prices. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged full price. After we questioned it, we were told happy hour pricing required sitting at the bar, even though the menu only mentions that restriction for the 4-6 PM time period. After discussing it twice, they adjusted the bill, which we appreciated. Still, the situation felt misleading and could have been avoided with clearer communication and more transparent pricing.

The ceiling over the bar featured artfully placed corn husks. They had two mocktail options. I had the chicha morada. It was sweet, but light. To start, we had the maitake ceviche. The mushrooms were perfectly firm and complemented nicely by the corn and carrots. The sauce was savory and tangy. Delicious enough to drink! They don't have any vegetarian entrees so I opted for the gnocchi with a side of the brussel sprouts sans bacon. The gnocchi had a rich cheese and melted in your mouth. The brussel sprouts were nicely roasted with a slightly sweet glaze. Two people joined our table late and they let us move to a larger one without issue. Portion sizes were small, especially given the price point, but otherwise, it was great for a splurge.

At the recommendation of a local patron, we opted for the happy hour margaritas, tamarind and blackberry. They were both really refreshing, with the tamarind being a bit sweeter than the blackberry. The food smelled delicious, so it was kind of a bummer that we had already had dinner elsewhere. It's definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood and worth checking out.

The lomo saltado is a classic Peruvian dish with tender steak, onions, and tomatoes. Usually I see this dish paired with fries, but they opted for chunks of potato instead next to a bed of rice. Overall, it was a delicious meal that was satisfying and fulfilling. Note that they offer cash and card prices.

We made a reservation for 6:15 pm to take advantage of their happy hour and when we arrived, there was only two other people at the bar. However, by around 7:30 pm the restaurant was pretty full so it may still be best to make a reservation. We opted to do their happy hour special, which is a ceviche + main for $50. They also have half off all bottles of wine during HH, and our waiter helped us select a nice bottle of white to pair with the food. For the ceviche we got the catch of the day and tuna. Between the two, I preferred the tuna although I will note the portions on both were pretty small. I'm assuming that the portion is the same as if you ordered it ala carte, but if I had paid the full price for it I would have been disappointed in the size. For mains, we got the chicken ala brasa and arroz con mariscos. Both of these were really solid-- cooked well, and the portion felt significant. Of the two, I think it really depends on what you're craving for which one I would recommend. The chicken was definitely more hefty/juicy but the arroz was very flavorful. We also opted to get a slice of the key lime pie for dessert, which was really good! The meringue was torched and it was very zesty and not too sweet. The servers were all really nice and they also do inkind, so combining that with HH can really get you a nice discount. I think without the HH pricing I would have thought the food was good, but more of a special occasion than a regular spot to visit. So do yourself a favor and come to try the HH menu.
