Bad Cuban sandwich with pork that have super bad stale taste
    Olivia B.

I really hate to give this bad review. I ordered their specialty- Cuban sandwich and pork was tasted super bad with stale taste! I was sharing sandwich with my husband and he couldn't eat it too. It was bad tasting. Sweet Plantains was bad too (separate order) they being over cooked and not delicious and for $7 you can do it better. We literally put all the food in the garbage.

Phenomenal experience! The food was absolutely authentic, and I stumbled upon this spot while walking through the neighborhood. The indoor-outdoor vibe immediately caught my attention. I started with a Mojito, which was the perfect treat, refreshing, full-sized, and tasting exactly like a classic Mojito. I ordered the Cod fish Croquettes, a side order of sweet plantain, and it did not disappoint. Tender, flavorful ,and, it was exceptional. My favorite part about this place is the cozy outdoors if you wish to sit outside. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the whole place radiates a tropical, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by!

Got the Cuban, and it was absolutely incredible. The meat was tender and flavourful, the mustard and pickles were just the right amount, and the bread was toasted to perfection. Got it to go, but the brief service I got was friendly. Cute decor too!

When in Brooklyn, eat! Sunday afternoon in a beautiful day. This place is a cute spot nestled between two streets that are closed on Sunday's. Seating is available outside, which is great for a spring day. We tried the frozen mojito which was delicious!!! Then the steak sandwich and steak platter! It was very tasty and flavored to perfection. It was a great choice on a beautiful day! I will certainly be back!

    Jackfruit Vegetarian Sandwich, Yucca Fries

Cute place with a great Cuban vibe, tucked away in a side street. Looks like everything is super fresh, and they have vegetarian options. I tried the jackfruit pressed sandwich with yucca fries. This was great, the jackfruit bbq sauce was a little sweet for me, but still good. I realized I should have asked them to add pickles to my sandwich, for that proper Cuban sandwich tang. Cafecito was perfect.

I got recommended this place by someone who has Cuban background, I figured, can't go wrong with it! I called in to pick up my order, the guy who answered my phone was very friendly and very welcoming when I arrived at the restaurant. I thought the price was on the higher side but the sandwich was so big that could serve 2 people and delicious! I'll definitely be back!!

I just ate one of the best cubanos I've ever had. Don't worry. This isn't some kind of bait and switch scenario. It was here, at Cuban Shack. This spot opened up two weeks ago today, and when a Cuban Shack opens up down the street from me, I consider it my moral and civic duty to check it out for you, the people. First off, the vibes are good. Jesús Alemany on the trumpet coming out of the speakers, bright colors everywhere (even the bathroom is adorable and smells great). That said, I'll be honest with you. I was preparing myself for disappointment. There are a lot of lackluster cubanos out there in the world, and coming in at $16, this is also not the most affordable one out there. But it's an expensive neighborhood, good food costs money, and I'll be damned if I'm not going to check it out (although I'm kind of slacking waiting two whole weeks). Good thing I did, because... GODDAMN. This sandwich is basically perfect. Visually it's stunning, with the outside of the Cuban bread lacquered up to a shine by the press. There's delicious bits of fricco crust all around the outside where the cheese got burned, and I knew it was going to be incredible when I first opened the box. The guys behind the counter are super nice, and when I asked if I should roll with a pork plate or a cubano on my first visit, I loved the confidence with which he directed me to the sandwich. After biting into it, I can report that confidence was clearly deserved, because he knew this sandwich was everything it should be. A Cuban sandwich is pretty simple on its face, but so many people mess it up. I don't know where these dudes came from (Cuba, probably), but they nail it so hard. The balance is exactly right; perfect ratios of bread to pickles to mustard to cheese to pork...and the PORK here. 15 hour slow cooked to ridiculous, juicy flavor. I could and will eat it all on its own, or on a plate with rice and beans and maduros. Maybe tomorrow. I'm going to be thinking about this sandwich til I come back and get another. It's a tight menu, and I'm willing to bet it's all good after seeing the care and quality put into the signature item. So glad you moved into the neighborhood, guys. See you soon.

One of the best Cuban sandwiches I ever had. Empanada was perfectly fried and had great filling.

Happy to see the restaurant offering specials so I ordered Cuban sandwiches, Bacalao(fried cod fish), Cuban ham croquettes, Yuca fries(came with red onions) and regular French fries. The Cubans' roast pork was well-seasoned and accompanied with plantain chips, all items brought a delicious sauce, and fresh garlic, nice touch. The Cubans were 4/5, the Bacalao were 5/5, as were the Yuca and regular fries. I personally prefer different bread, with more pickles and ham, but definitely recommend this place and will plan a visit to dine-in, to try their fresh juices and other menu items. I ordered delivery so could not report on service, beyond everything was well-packaged with care.

The flavors are a little off for me, but still a good version. The ropa vieja also lacked a little something, but they use tri-tip instead of the usual flank steak, which felt more tender. The owner Benny was also kind enough to give us some free desserts to take home, which were pretty good. With that said, what intrigued me the most was the interesting story about how Benny fell into this restaurant situation after swearing he would never be in this industry again. He is a strong believer in supporting the community, and has a nonprofit called Hungry Monk Rescue Truck that deals with food insecurity in NYC. We need more people like him in this world. Let's show our support for a business we can be proud to dine at.

We found Kiosko 787 while searching nearby options. We tried calling three times, but the phone would ring, play a greeting, and disconnect. Despite that, we decided to give it a try and arrived around 2:30 pm. The exterior was colorful and inviting, reminiscent of Old San Juan. Inside was smaller than expected but vibrant and cozy. The restaurant was empty except for one hostess on her phone. When we asked to dine in (party of five), she immediately asked if we had a reservation and told us reservations had to be made online. She explained they do not answer the phone as it's only for online orders and business information. After waiting a few minutes, she was able to seat us. Three people in our group had never tried Puerto Rican food, so we were excited to introduce them. We ordered drinks and the Picadera Sampler, which was excellent -- flavorful fried chicken chunks and delicious fried cheese. We finished the entire platter. For entrées, two of us ordered the Chuleta Kan Kan to share, and the other three also shared one, adding a mofongo as an extra side. The menu describes it as a "mega thick cut pork chop" and shows a large cut including belly and rib, which is why we chose to share. When the dishes arrived, the pork chops were normal-sized, thin, and nothing like the description or photo. We jokingly renamed them "Chuleta Can't Can't." The server dropped off the plates without knives or checking in and remained distracted on her phone. When we asked about the size, we were told the butcher sends different cuts. We asked about adding extra meat, but were told we would need to purchase another full entrée as they could not sell us a portion of meat, even when we asked if carne frita/pork chunks or a pork chop would be an option. The pork was thin, overcooked, and dry. The rice and pigeon peas were bland and heavy on tomato paste or sauce flavor. The mofongo, however, was moist and delicious with a garlicky butter sauce. Shortly after, another staff member brought out an additional pork chop that they "found in the kitchen," which was appreciated but also very dry. Given we were the only table (aside from one later customer), more proactive service and a heads-up about portion sizes would have helped manage expectations and given us the chance to order differently. The restaurant was also extremely warm. When we mentioned the heat, the response was dismissive. We really wanted this to be a great introduction to Puerto Rican cuisine for our friends. Unfortunately, the service and misleading entrée presentation fell short. The Picadera Sampler and mofongo were the only highlights and the reason for the 2-star rating.
