During a business weekend in NYC and impromptu stop along Washington Avenue before First Saturdays at Brooklyn Museum, me and my peeps received recommendations to stop at PV .... we were not disappointed. Warm welcome. We chose to sit at the bar and both enjoyed expected facorites carne asada and a pollo con arroz renditions. The rice waa heavenly and the hot sauce should be tried with everything. There are bottles for sale. The maduros with avocado was incredible especially with ghe provided sauce and hot sauce. So fessh .. so good. Lets not even talk about the mint ginger etc tea which you can get cold or hot ... hot won the day for me on this -4 RealFeel day. The vibe is right for a variety of group sizes from a date to fdiends chilling.

Solid Dominican spot. The ambiance is lovely. The food was good. We had a chinola, some apps like the maduros y yuca fries and pollo a la horno. Felt a little dry but overall still flavorful. The yuca fries salsa was awful tho so don't have that.

Tucked between several auto shops in Crown Heights, Brooklyn you'll find a cozy casual spot serving authentic Dominican dishes! Oh btw they also have some rotating lunch specials Monday to Friday. Pernil for $9 in this economy?! + Bistec y queso sandwich (with Yuca fries) - grilled sirloin steak with muenster cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato + Pulpo a la parilla - grilled octopus + El mas durito (not pictured) - sweet plantain topped with avocado and homemade chimichurri sauce + Morir soñando (also not pictured) - orange juice, milk, and vanilla Ok the octopus here is cooked so well! Not chewy or rubbery at all and the sauce provides a nice acidity and brightness. The steak is tender and well-seasoned and we loved the Yuca fries! The real highlight for us was the sweet plantains. Wow the chimichurri and the pickled veggies it comes with contrast the plantains so well! Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're looking for a casual meal or even a nice date night :) Follow my Instagram and TikTok @thephotographerfoodie for more! :)

Everytime I go here, I feel a sense of relief. I went on a Wednesday, but absolutely no wait or fuss and quickly serviced. There was about 4 people in the restaurant which increased to 12 by the time I left, but the volume and calmness remained the same so I barely even noticed. The host was chipper, but new and the waiter was older, didn't say much but offered us suggestions and was not pushy. Now the thing that makes it great is the ambiance- warm yellow lighting, wood material and a huge wood island. We sat near the window/ door but didn't feel a draft and the real plants were a nice touch. Music is at a decent volume where I can definitely hear my date but noticed a reggae and reggaeton song. Food was yummy. First they had authentic passionfruit juice (tart flavor ) and the sangria cocktail had no complaints. Also, the sKirtsteak / chicken entrees were flavorful and the perfect portion Sizes. I still opted for the coconut flan/hot chocolate For dessert. I wish they came out together and they were ok - not too sweet but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get them again. The flan didn't have a coconut flavor, but thick coconut shreds on top Which was a little disappointing. Still a great time.

Nice neighborhood spot with tasty food at affordable prices! Came here with a friend on a Friday night. The place stayed relatively busy throughout the evening, but there was never a wait for a table. For food, we got: - Pernil: honestly the pork was a little bit dry, but my friend seemed to enjoy it. - Chicken mofongo: I really enjoyed this! Definitely also very filling, loved the sauce that came with it. - Yucca fries: very tasty and filling, served with a side of garlic sauce (that was not nearly enough given how delicious it was). Servers were friendly and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is really lovely, with plants and nice details. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood!

We stopped here by chance on Friday afternoon for lunch and were seated straight away. We started off with a beer and a berry sangria (very tasty, highly recommend). We ordered the Picadera to start which was a nice selection of items. We then took advantage of their lunch specials (such great value) and ordered the Pollo Al Horno and the Carne Guisada. Both were tasty but the Carne Guisada was the stand out, so delicious and flavorful. The service was great as well, food came out quickly but we never felt rushed. All in all would highly recommend and will definitely be back (I have to try the trece de leche cake!).

Quality food at a good price point. This is such a gem in the neighborhood and it deserves more love. I came in for their lunch special and it did not disappoint. I mean, where in 2024 can you get a meat-forward entree and a side for $9? I opted for the pernil, which was so tender and full of flavor. You can tell this is roasted to perfection. For my side, I went with maduros because I just can't get enough of sweet plantains. These weren't overly sweet or overly fried, just a kiss! I also loved the homemade hot sauce they provided. I did also add on a cheese empanada (3.50) and this was the perfect little creamy dairy pocket for me. Again, loved the dipping sauce this came with. This meal was the perfect portion for lunch, very filling. The interior is cute and casual. A place that seems perfect for both dinner or lunch. A few steps up from a no-frills place but also not pretentious at all. A good neighborhood spot. Service was good and fast. I will definitely be back. 4.6/5

This is a review for delivery through Uber eats. I had a late night craving for Dominican food. This one popped up in my search with good review. I took my chance and ordered. I am glad that I did. The chicken was fried perfectly. Because of the delivery, it was not as crunchy as it should be. But still warm and yummy. Rice and bean are also perfect. I will go to the restaurant next time to order rest of their delicious menu.

I had my last meal here before delivering my baby. The food was good and the portions were controlled. I really wanted the pastelon so that's what I ordered. I would have had a second pastelon pregnant or not lol it was so good! Happy hour was ending so we got 2 empanadas as appetizers and my husband got a beer. Everything was delicious! It was a chill ambiance with music going in the background. The service was good. We enjoyed our meals and would definitely come back!

Such a good place! Only bad part about the restaurant was that the AC was on too high and I was cold. The vibes were great, the food was delicious and service was attentive! My favorites were pernil and the fried platter. I thought the tres leches could've been soaked for longer. But still delicious nonetheless.

Had this on my foodie list for a while, and decided to pop in with my daughter and her bestie. We walked in and loved the vintage decor. Not what I was expecting at all. As a Dominican, I am always hesitant to try Dominican food from restaurants, as they tend to over season their food. That wasnt the case here. We ordered oxtail and maduro empanadas to start. The crust was flakey and the maduros were a hit. My only advice is to season the oxtail a bit more, as you could barely taste it in the pastry. Maybe add a weeee bit of kick? My sancocho was perfect on a cloudy cold April day. It was smooth, had plenty of Viandas (root veggies) and pork ribs. I ordered mine with a side of white rice and avocado as is tradition. My daughter ordered the Completo Sandwich. She loved but would have preferred it was on the same bread used on the Bistec Sandwich (which her friend ordered) and pressed. Wasnt a huge fan of the Dulce de Coco. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt the texture I was expecting when compared to traditional Dulce de Coco I have had. We will definitely come again and will recommend to our friends.

If you can deal with the long lines and chaotic ordering process, you'll be rewarded with some deliciously tender Brisket, super savory Longaniza, and incredibly rich Chicharron. Throw in the ample seating that's a specialty of non-Manhattan BBQ joints, and you've got a great spot for a casual dinner. Not sure I'd schlep out here just for Bark, but I'm not mad we tried it.

Arrived around 4:45 on Saturday afternoon. There was a long line, but I had no idea how slow it would be. An hour and a half later made it to the counter. No Beef ribs, No chicken, no sausage. Only Brisket and Pork belly. Maybe with their new store they don't have enough product for both. The Brisket was very good. The Dominican spices made the bark worth while. Had Mac 'n cheese and Cole Slaw as sides. The Mac 'n cheese was excellent, and I don't usually like Mac 'n cheese. The Cole slaw was inedible. Just cabbage and a spice. Just dry and gritty. We had one bite each and tossed it. And of course because it is in the Time Out Market there was virtually no seating. More than half the seating was people holding space, no food no drinks. We approached a spot and a guy said the seat was taken. There were two chairs so he said we could have one. Finished our food and left. The other person never showed up. Holding space for an hour and a half? They need to force people to buy something if they are going to sit.

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.
