    Pernil with Rice and Beans
    Evan L.

Fast and friendly service- great local joint. Wide selection of items and the prices are great. I got a healthy serving of Pernil and a big plate of rice and beans for $10. Great taste and value. Would come back!

Smh like what is this ???? What if I wouldn't ate that ? Damn luckily I seen it so sad

steak was uncooked and they made me wait 30 minutes for me and my friend food. we was so patient and polite and they were very rude to us. I might look white but I'm dominican. My mother is. it was giving racist for no reason . . We even got dirty looks upon arrival. I even found something in my food. looks like poison. the little circle things that be in that little white package in a jacket or anything new you buy. Yeah Im upset. Like whats going on over there ? I don't know them they don't know me whats that about ? I just wanted food. They tried to do some funny mess to me. God is good.

Decided to take a step in and had a great diner feeling. Ordered some fried delicious food in which they call of cuchifritos. The favorite was the empanada in which they call pastellios. Had some potato balls and plantains. Then decided to order their fried chicken and rice and beans to go. Boy was my bag heavy and to realize that it was insanely stuffed when I unwrapped it at home. The boyfriend completely approves of this place as he stuffed himself with food. The next week he asked to go to this place again and we ordered a pernil sandwich. Again, they did not disappoint!

Very wrong decision I walked in, there was an older woman with her daughter, and the daughter was helping her order her food and they were taken care of. I waited as it was very busy. I will say that. A gentleman walked in also Hispanic, but we can identify and assume what color of skin he was because he sat down right next to me, and the server literally went to him did not even look at me not once and asked him what he wanted and took his sit down order right next to me in front of my face! To my astonishment did not ask me what I wanted so I asked him. Do you not see me sitting here waiting to be served?! He didn't even respond. I was going to continue with my order, but it put such a bad taste in my mouth that I stood here in front of the establishment to download Yelp again and write this review. !!Please do not come to this establishment and spend your money because they will not respect you especially if you have of darker skin no matter what nationality you are.! Also the front is crowded with drug addicts!

My favorite was the Chuletas Kan Kan special since the pork was crispy without being dry. They definitely make it fresh since I saw them picking out the piece of pork to cook once I had ordered it. Rice and beans are so flavorful. Soup and Cubano tasted great too. It's a small and popular restaurant, so they typically will ask you to wait outside until a table is ready. We came around 2pm on a holiday and had to wait 20-25 minutes in the cold, but it was well worth it. Servers are super nice and accommodating. Cash only!

However, I was really surprised by the price. We paid about $60 for takeout, which included two servings of rice, two servings of beans, chicken, two bistecs, and tostones. Considering the portions were fairly small, I didn't feel the price matched the amount of food we received. As a Puerto Rican who cooks these dishes regularly, I know I can prepare the same meal at home for a fraction of the cost. The only reason we ordered takeout was because I wasn't feeling well enough to cook that day. While the food tasted good, the value just wasn't there for me. Unfortunately, because of the pricing, I don't see myself going back there again.

Empanadas are good, but you can have a better variety and more flavorful ones in other locations…read moresuch as Mama's Empanadas and for less. Not worth the prices. In addition, to charge for the sauce à la carte is insane. Every empanadas spot I've been to provides the sauces at no cost. Be better Empanadas City. Also it doesn't take too much time to list on the bag the type of empanadas purchased. Having it stamped on the empanadas ( which when fried, not all stamps are legible) isn't effective when you have to remove every single one out the bag to see which one is it. Don't know about you but I don't think the average person enjoys their food touched before they get to consume it. This is okay if you purchasing just for yourself but when a family orders together it's not the best system.

Immediately I was going to rate them lower due to size and no labeling but the taste was truly made with lots of love. I ordered 4 via Ubereats, totaling roughly $24 with 3 sauces. I ordered the Chicken macaroni and cheese, Ropa Vieja, Americano and a Pastelon. Every single one of them were on point, warm and crispy. My only true complaint is that they're super small. Better for my calorie intake I guess lol. The meat was extremely well seasoned, cheese was melted, plantain was sweet. The edges were crispy and the flavors together were delicious. The avocado sauce is way too thick. It's more like a thick heavy cream. The pink sauce is your typical mayo ketchup. There is absolutely no way of knowing which empanadas are which. They need a better concept so that customers know especially if they're ordering as a group to share. I've never seen an empanada place not label their empanada. I read a google review from the owners saying they put it on the package on the bottom corner but that is a lie. It's not on the empanada itself or on the packaging. Overall I'm still ordering from here again : )
