Also it doesn't take too much time to list on the bag the type of empanadas purchased. Having it stamped on the empanadas ( which when fried, not all stamps are legible) isn't effective when you have to remove every single one out the bag to see which one is it. Don't know about you but I don't think the average person enjoys their food touched before they get to consume it. OMG!! These empanadas are seriously the best tasting empanadas I ever had. Immediately I was going to rate them lower due to size and no labeling but the taste was truly made with lots of love. I ordered 4 via Ubereats, totaling roughly $24 with 3 sauces. I ordered the Chicken macaroni and cheese, Ropa Vieja, Americano and a Pastelon. Every single one of them were on point, warm and crispy. My only true complaint is that they're super small. Better for my calorie intake I guess lol. The meat was extremely well seasoned, cheese was melted, plantain was sweet. The edges were crispy and the flavors together were delicious. The avocado sauce is way too thick. It's more like a thick heavy cream. The pink sauce is your typical mayo ketchup. There is absolutely no way of knowing which empanadas are which. They need a better concept so that customers know especially if they're ordering as a group to share. I've never seen an empanada place not label their empanada. I read a google review from the owners saying they put it on the package on the bottom corner but that is a lie. Starr Street location.. Well seasoned & cooked to order, overstuffed goodness so it will take a few minutes. Cozy seating area if you want to enjoy, hot and fresh. The cons... they charge for sauce, you get none if you don't order it... $.30 each. I got the avocado and hot sauce, decent but nothing fancy. They have plastic cutlery, no knife, just forks. They have rice and bean dishes with your choice of protein, but if you're traveling, and you like your beans separate, they will not pack it separately. So I didn't order it. Never dined in, this is a review of the food itself. I have eaten from EC about 4 times. If I've been back that many times, I can tell you there will be a 5th, 6th, and 7th time. I've had the cheese, steak, and chicken empanadas those times. When I tell you the steak/beef empanada had a bite so juicy the broth that was packed in with the savory, flavorful (but not salty) meat spurted forth like a dolphin that just realized it was late for a meeting on land, I damn well mean it. Had good flavor but was a little on the salty side. Americana - it had a mixture of everything. Good Pizza burger - might've been our favorite one!! Delicious sauce, perfect amount of cheese. Just loves this one. Would order it again for sure. Cuban - probably our least favorite! Barely tasted any pernil, and packed with waaaay too much ham. Left some of this one behind cause we weren't too crazy about it. Tried every single sauce. All were good. My personal fave was the avocado. Oh man am I glad I found this place. On my first visit I went and had the spinach and ricotta empanada and the plantain one as well. Both were made fresh and tasted great. Take my advice though, give these things about 15-20 minutes to cool down as I ate these in my car and nearly went down with a 3rd degree mouth burn. I had the classic beef, jerk chicken and the steak and plaintains empanada. They filled it up with meat and it was pretty flavorfull as well. I purchased all three of the sauces. I would recommend all of them but the pink one since it was really just ketchup and mayo. I would get them again.
