Mangu con 2 Queso, 3 Salami w/ egg

I've been ordering from here for several years now. Their food gets 5 stars, but I will say their delivery is very slow. Food wise, I recommend the daily special. An entree, side, pastelito, and a soda for around $10. I prefer the pernil and red beans over rice, with a chicken pastelito! Another favorite is the mangu breakfast combo, mangu, an egg, salami, and fried cheese, topped with pickled onions.

I'm only giving 3 stars because the lady who answered the phone was willing to replace my order and she was nice. The food was not good at all. I did not enjoy it. Quick simple Spanish food and they managed to burn my chicharones de pollo. When I called the restaurant, the lady told me "It's not burned mama, it's oregano" Oregano shouldn't taste burned like this. She offered to replace my order and I was satisfied. Only for my new order to come and still be burned. No thanks! Won't be ordering here again.

This is my favorite Dominican place in Queens. I love their pernil. Hell its all good. The beans are great, the rice alone is worth the trip and I love their Morir Sonando. Just make sure to bring cash. The women that work there couldn't be nicer.

This is a big sopa de sancocho they charged $10 for‍

This place has become very expensive and the food is not worth what they are charging. The rotisserie chicken does not taste the same as it used to taste. It used to have flavor now it's bland, their platanos do not taste fresh everything else is just sitting there full of grease. The quality of taste went down while there prices went up. This is my opinion try a different Spanish restaurant you will get better quality in taste and pay less.

1 star for customer service 1 star for common sense 4 for the food on a good day 2.5 for the food on a bad day They arrived 40 minutes late. Mind you the initial delivery was estimated for 1.5hrs. I call three times before the food actually arrives. Once I take it out the bag, I noticed it's lukewarm. I waited 2 hrs and spent nearly $20 for lukewarm food. How absurd?! I call the restaurant and their solution is we'll refund you and pick up the original order. No sorry for the delay, no comp the next order and no sorry for the cold food. Finally, they push that they want to send a new order over. They swear I'll be the first order to go out. Fast forward an hour and the replacement food isn't here. Here's the kicker: they are located 15mins from my house. Last time I order from them. I ordered via seamless btw.

Excuse my old timey bowl and partly chewed food, but I couldn't go on.

I received my order around 7, but time was against me so, I'm now eating it. I ordered the Daily Special, which comprises of the chicken stew with arroz amarillo o moro , chicken pastelito , ginger ale. Along with like 5 or 6 more pastelitos. I've always enjoyed the food, but this is the first time ordering the chicken stew. So, I'm eating and watching Good Witch, and the chicken was semi dry but the rice soaked up the stew so it evened out. Mid-devour, I look at my plate and I'm so stunned. I see an organ of some sorts, a brain? A lung? All my knowledge from BIO lab is gone...much like my appetite. I never understood the show Scared Straight until this meal. The pastelitos were exquisite (maybe I ate that organ unbeknownst to me ), however this will be my last order. Sincerely, Scared Vegetarian

Yeah, they still have't gotten around to changing the name.

If you're looking for it, don't go by the name La Cocina de Mama or you'll be walking around for hours. The sign out front still says, "Pollos a La Brasa Aris. Despite the nomenclature controversy, the food is pretty tasty. Not being Dominican, I can't vouch for the authenticity of the dishes, but the Pernil w/ Rice & Beans was very good. Granted, you'll pay more than you would for the same amount of food you would receive from a Chinese food restaurant, but it was a nice change of pace. Pernil (roast pork) rice & beans and a sparse serving of sweet plantains was $10. All-in-all a satisfying lunch. No parking in front, but plenty on side streets with a minor walk.

    Great food!

We get food from this restaurant often. The chicken with tostones is a good option especially when you have to feed a crowd.

I ordered a half baked chicken with white rice and beans because I was craving good fresh chicken. What I received was extremely disappointing. The chicken was incredibly dry hard and almost impossible to bite into. This was not slightly overcooked. It was clearly old and had been sitting too long. There were several chickens still in the warmer and anyone cutting and serving it could see immediately that it was not good enough to give to a customer. By the time I got home and opened the container I was shocked. The chicken looked terrible and tasted worse. Dry tough and flavorless. The entire reason I came here was for good baked chicken and instead I was served something that should never have left the counter. When you are serving food that late you still have a responsibility to serve quality or to say it is no longer fresh. I would have preferred honesty over being given food that was clearly past its prime. Imagine having to spend $15 and then you get home to unwind and encounter this? Very disappointed and I will think twice before referring anyone.

The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.
