Pernil

They have the best peril I've had, making it one of my comfort foods since being in NYC. I walked in with big eyes, but the folks working were really patient. When they couldn't hear me, they read the notes section on my phone. I left with a huge portion of tender pernil and yellow rice. I catch myself daydreaming about it sometimes, wondering if I should move to Ridgewood just to be closer to it.

Tripe soup. Sooooo tasty!

Came for a trip down memory lane to Ridgewood. Haven't been here to eat in a decade (or two). Was recommended this place by a long time resident. He said the food is fresh and you can check it out right when you come in. We opted for seating, since we're out of towners but the majority of patrons took their food to go. Getting seated and menus took about 5 minutes. Was a bit shell shocked to have to pay for water but no big deal. Seating is very tight. There's about 3 TVs to watch. Ordered the pepper steak, steak with sautéed onions, cheeseburger deluxe, tripe soup, maduros plantains (soft), and 1/2 rotisserie chicken with pigeon peas. Steaks were all good. Served on the well done side. Tripe soup was sooooo delicious. Hubby was stuffed so I was lucky enough to finish it for him. My chicken was 3/5. The dressing that it came with was like a very very salty Italian dressing. The maduros weren't that sweet or soft. So 3/5. Our waitress was very professional. She didn't write any of our orders down and got them all right. And when we told her what we wanted to order she'd nod her head with a smirk like "mmm hmmm. That's what's up". Like y'all gonna be eating good tonight! Wasn't offered a dessert menu -but let me just say as a mom of 3- I'm really glad she didn't LOL. I recommend you all give this a try. There are a ton of things on the menu- breakfast, burgers, Spanish food, steaks, rotisserie chicken...

Pernil sandwich was tasteless. The yuca was super dry and tough and the onions on top tasted rancid.

I was in the neighborhood visiting a friend and told her that I was hungry so she suggested that I try this place out. The restaurant is a pretty decent size and the seating looks like it can accommodate about twenty five people for table service. I love to eat Spanish food so when I try a new place out, it has to meet certain standards. I like the fact that they have many different options of food choices to choose from. I've never seen mashed potatoes as a choice in a Spanish restaurant until I came here. I chose to order pernil with yellow rice and a small of beans for takeout. The food was good, however the rice was too salty for my taste buds. That rice was trying to raise my blood pressure. They put way too much salt during the cooking process instead of relying on fresh ingredients to enhance the flavor of the rice. Hey, I know this because I can cook lol! I noticed that this restaurant gets really busy quickly. My friend said they are the busiest and most popular Spanish restaurant in the neighborhood. I would definitely come back but would stay away from the rice though.

Wasn't really sure what to order and how to order. I went with two different family combos off the menu. One chicken chicharron, it was okay... I misread and thought it was the pork chicharron. The other was a lamb stew which was pretty good. The lamb wasn't gamey. Both combos came with a substantial amount of rice. They were beyond generous when it came to rice. Service was quite excellent. They probably could tell we are obviously not from the neighborhood and first timers in their restaurant so they were quite helpful and patient with us when we were ordering. It was a very busy restaurant, it was hustling and bustling the whole time we were there. I definitely want to go back again and try something else.

Rude people and even more mid food, not the tea nor the chile, no shade though. Good cans of soda.

Horrible service. Dry food. Too many good Dominican spots to try instead of wasting time here.

And I'm saying that as a Dominican with a Dominican grandfather who cooks just like this. I have NEVER been able to find a place that makes rice the way my grandpa does. Like that real, home-cooked Dominican rice that actually tastes like something. And of course I don't always want to bother him when I'm in the mood for good Dominican food... so I'm genuinely so happy I found this place. Ordering was super easy and pickup was quick. Prices are also really good for the amount of food you get. And everything I've tried has been delicious. The beans though... oh my God. I'm still thinking about the beans. For the amount of food you get for the price, it's amazing! I can't wait to keep ordering from here, and I'm honestly already thinking about placing larger orders for events in the future. If there's one local business in Queens you should support, it's this one. Hands down one of the best Dominican spots!

The only negative was their bathroom. It was (extremely musty) due to possible water damage. FYI, their calamari is different from Mediterranean. Service was great! It was my first time to Ecuadorian restaurant. The server was very kind to explain everything and made a great recommendation. Notes- Most dishes are a bit more, so see the photos, but not by much…read more I have been to this Ecuadorian restaurant twice at this point, though last time was long enough ago that even with my usual vast food memory, I barely remember what we ordered outside of it all tasting good. The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.
