Casa Adela is a small eatery of authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, just as cooked as our "abuelas" with flavor. I enjoyed the food as well as the informal atmosphere. The restaurant is very small, 6 tables. The service very nice the seasoned staff treats you like an old friend. A lot of to go/pick up orders. Try to go off rush hours, people wait in line for this great food. If you're craving real Puerto Rican food, specifically, this is the place to go.

4.5 Really liked the food here, flavorful but not salty for me. This time, also ordered Bacalao; yuca with onions; mofongo which has pernil mixed in, and crispy chicharron on top (less pricey than the mofongo with pernil or chicken entree). Flan was so good and only $3. Chicken chicharron were crispy and tasty but were not meaty pieces. Pernil sandwich was pressed, kind of plain. 2 hours from being outside/waiting for a table to finishing our meal. I did notice that once seated, it took a while for our order to be taken. There were only 2 people attending to the tables but staff is very nice, homey feel when eating there. Kitchen was busy- noticed a lot of pick-up orders too. Small restaurant, tables near each other; with a small restroom.

It's a four. It's a solid four. I arrived a little after 4pm with the intent on getting a 1/2 rotisserie chicken. I'm guessing they sold a lot already that day as the chicken still had to cook for approximately 2 more hours at that point. With that, I opted for the pernil. It was flavorful but some pieces were slightly dry. I may have gotten the end of a batch, because the guy next to me also ordered pernil and all of the pieces looked juicy and were hot. The vibe inside is authentic Puerto Rican. They've got the checkered tablecloth along with the condiments on all tables. The place is small - wait to be seated if you're eating there or order at the counter if you placing an order to go. I also got arroz con gandules, black beans, tostones & a salad. Yes, I brought home leftovers. At the moment, they're selling bottles of coquito for the holidays. It's a little steep in my opinion, at $45 per bottle. Cash only. But, they will also accept Venmo & Zelle. I think there was a third option to electronically send money. A very affordable meal for sure. Without tip, my total came to just under $27. A neighborhood spot and a NYC institution... Casa Adela.

Delicious homecooked meal that feeded my group of 6 for less than 100 dollars, incredible experience! The service is curt, (which people might not be used to, but I love it!) quick, and efficient. Bring cash and I recommend the pernil with the rice and beans. Absolutely will be coming here again.

I was in New York the last week of March and beginning of April, and I wanted to find an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant, so like any normal person who has no point of reference for what Puerto Rican food should taste like, I checked Reddit. Everyone on Reddit said that Casa Adela was the place to be, and so I made the trip down to the Village to check it out, and I did not regret it. This was my first time ever having mofongo, and it was everything I ever hoped for. It was starchy and filling, and the pork cut through with its fatty texture perfectly. I also ordered the rice and beans, and it was so satisfying mixing it all together. The workers were incredibly friendly and nice, and I was surprised at how packed it was. It's a little small restaurant, but when I got there, it was at capacity that I had to wait for an opening. I don't remember how long I waited for, but it was worth every second. Keep in mind that they're cash only, which, fortunately, I had some on me to cover. I would definitely come back for them.

Best rotisserie chicken in NYC, fight me for it Idc. Lovely people work here, great vibes, great food, no notes.

This is a spot that has been on our bucket list for a while now. It serves good old fashioned Puerto Rican comfort food that does not disappoint. The restaurant itself is tight - not many tables - and the menu itself was not very varied. However the basics were there. Service was friendly although the server was just a touch absentminded. Really good place.

Food is as authentic as it gets outside PR. Brought me back to my childhood (especially the flavors of the Pollo Guisado like my Mom use to make). Price is more than reasonable for the spread we had. The service and space is not fine dining white table cloth by any means but it's cozy and clean and that's all that matters.

I am being quite biased with this one - I love Puerto Rican food. And this place serves authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Unfortunately, NYC doesn't have those large Puerto Rican communities like they did in the past, so it seems like there are not many serving this type of cuisine. But there are some Puerto Rican culture/food still lingering around. I believe Casa Adela has been around for 50 years or so. We did had a long wait - It was Sunday and it is a small place. It also seems like they seat everyone at the same time. Anyways, once we were seated, we were taken care of fairly quickly. I had rice and beans, and carne guisada (beef stew). Oh, it was so delicious. The prices were quite affordable and service was friendly. I'm going to say a very high four stars rounded up to 5!

I have been dying to go here since the pandemic. I saw a lifestyle video with Luis Gomez. I got recommendations and that was enough. My husband & I met my 2 high school friends. I can't speak for any of the other Yelpers, our experience was great. One of the owners seated 2 of the 4. He explained that we couldn't technically be formally seated until our entire party arrive but extended that we can chill until they did. Once we were all there he was very informative. The food was great. The overall service was very good. And everyone was very friendly. Great experience.

The food was incredible and so filling. Nothing like a home cooked meal from family recipes! The price is extremely reasonable and the ambiance is quite homey and cozy too. Real soul food! Everyone was so friendly excellent service !!

Friday 3pm, the was about 20 minutes not bad, it's a small place. The food was excellent! Mofongo was soft not dry the rice beans and pernil had so much flavor. The fried chicken season fried to perfection. Small place really busy but didn't feel neglected or forgotten about. I'll eat here often.

Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. Earlier this year, I overheard the man who I thought could be the owner telling another customer that foot traffic had slowed down since the implementation of congestion pricing, and they weren't sure they were going to keep the place open past the end of May because they weren't making as much money at this location as they had previously. Well, they're still open, but it seems like since the place isn't a moneymaker, it's no longer a priority. I've only been back a handful of times since then because they seem to be taking shortcuts in an effort to save dough. The arroz con gandules is mushy and flavorless; the chicharron are small and dry; the serving of beans is literally two teaspoons of beans and the rest of the (downsized) container is cooking liquid. Every time I go back hoping for a delicious meal, I'm sorely disappointed. Today I found a piece of raw chicken mixed into my vegetables. Turned my stomach immediately. Now I'm just hoping I don't end up with salmonella.

The chef Frances Roman also took the time to check in on each table and the people waiting outside the restaurant to see how they were enjoying the food and if they had any questions. The hospitality here is top tier! I ordered the bacalitos to start, which are cod fish fritters. They were nice and crispy. The sauce it came with really enhanced the flavor! I also ordered the guava and cheese pastelillos. Both pastelillos were also crisped to perfection. For my main dish, I had The Rican sandwich, which is a nice twist on the Cuban sandwich. The sandwich is made with pernil, Swiss, pickled onions, and the chef's own special garlic mayo sauce. It was absolutely delicious!! Cocotazo also has freshly, homemade juices.
