I find people tend to either hate or love pupusas, but if you do enjoy them, Bahia's rendition will certainly satisfy you. I had worked up an appetite so had the opportunity to try 3 varieties, including one with loroco, one with zucchini, and one with beans and cheese. As usual, the loroco - that elusive flower which I have never encountered other than on a pupusa menu - was the definite winner, especially when drowned in a combo of the mild salsa and curtido (a bit like coleslaw) served alongside. We also shared the plantains which came paired with a decadent cream that really made this appetizer fantastic.

The weather was in the high 70s today. My commute from Queens to Brooklyn was an hour and 40 minutes. Bahia Restaurant was within walking distance from the Grand Street subway station. Luckily, I made a reservation yesterday. I met up with my date for an early dinner before my metalcore show tonight. Drinks Limonada - refreshingly delicious Tamarindo - sweet and tangy Food *sharing is caring* Pupusas Locas - One pupusa stuffed with everything. This was my favorite pupusa. Revueltas - delicious Ayote y Queso - delicious Side Orders Yuca Frita - crispy and yummy Chicharrón de Pollo - The fried chicken was too dried. I am not a fan. Bookmark this spot to try!

What is left of my beef fajita wrap?

Good food for the price. If you're looking for spicy, you've come to the wrong place. But they have a good tostada and a good fajita wrap that tastes more like a Philly sandwich served with french fries. Not what I expected, but enjoyable.

Came for the pupusas and was not disappointed. Such large pupusas that I struggled to finish but fear not, I managed to eat them all! Got the loroco, jalapeño, and frijoles. Their curtido was good enough to eat by itself! Portions are huge too. I'll be back and bringing my friends!

I was exploring the area and stumbled upon this little gem! I've never had Salvadorian before and this place seems like a local mom and pop shop. There is plenty of seating on the inside and we did not have to wait to be seated. The woman who served us was extremely friendly and let us know that the back of the menu has explanations of the main dishes. I got a chicken and cheese pupusa, the horchata and an el campesino. The pupusa was delicious! We were told pupusas are to Salvadorians what tacos are to Mexicans and what hamburgers are to Americans. They come served with pickled veggies and a tomato sauce - it was delicious! They also had a nice crisp to them. Next time I'm back I will have to try the other flavors. The campesino steak was a little salty, but I think for the portion it is definitely worth it. I took leftovers home and ate it for lunch the next day and it was still good. The horchata also was great too, super flavorful and you could taste all the spices.

I have yet to dine in but one day i will! I usually place phone orders for pick up. I have tried every single one of their pupusas and favorite ones are chicken and cheese, zucchini and cheese, and pork and cheese! The ambiance is cozy and warm! A party of two or more can sit inside! One of my favorite restaurants!

Decided to try the fried porgy this time! I always get the crema de mariscos and it's definitely a fave! My husband stuck with his usual while I tried this culinary delight!

I really enjoyed the pupusas here. I got the bean and cheese, jalapeño and cheese, and wildflower and cheese. They were clearly made to order, the char was spectacular... the fillings were all quite good, although I wish there was some more spices in the actual filling. Not too big of a deal though, as the acidic slaw and spicy hot sauce helped make up the flavor and then some! They're super busy, so expect to wait, but I'd come back for sure.

The best pupusas (we got cheese and revueltas) that we've had in a LOOOONNNG time. I bought some for a friend from El Salvador and she was in heaven. Parking is tough and there is a bike lane right out front. The restaurant is tidy with simple, timely furniture and decor. They had every other table closed off to meet COVID-19 physical distance requirements. The restaurant was almost at capacity for lunch. The customer service with my specific requests was impeccable.

PUPUSAS, Yuca Frita con Chicharron, Tres Leches! Everything is FIRE!! SO GOOD!

Love this spot. Great papusas and large portions. Authentic Latino food spot so don't come in here looking for none of that fusion shit.

Delicious papusas at a great price. The corn cake had a great texture and the filling was spiced well and generous.

I was already kind of full but the entrees we got were also very delicious. I wish I knew how to cook fish or chicken that juicy but keeping the outside crunchy-crispy. 10/10 for all the food. Idk why but the music was so upbeat and it kept me feel rushed for some reason but that might be just me! Haha The service was great, the water kept getting filled and they were very attentive. Would definitely come back again!

4 Stars for dine-in. 3 Stars for delivery…read more I think this is the only Pupuseria in Astoria & am very happy about that! Used to go to the restaurant Mundo in this spot years ago. It's a cozy space just a block from the N/Broadway stop & in the heart of a busy few blocks with a lot of restaurant, cafe, bar, & grocery options. Sometimes I forget about this spot because it's just off the avenue, but it's worth a visit! Have dined in (outdoor seating during the summer) & ordered take-out (placed in-person) before. Usual order are Pupusas (chicharron & loroco + cheese - a tasty herb, like little buds that taste basil/oregano-like), Mojito, Pomegranate juice, Marañon juice (cashew apple fruit - like apple + pineapple). Everything was tasty, fresh & well made. The red sauce (bits of oregano) & curtido (pickled cabbage & carrots, a few chilies) with the pupusas are a must! But 3 Stars for a recent delivery (Sunday evening), the quality of the pupusas weren't great (thick), the Elote Tamale (sweet corn tamale with sour cream) was soggy & tasted tinny. Not sure if it was from the foil and/or it had a leak when it was being boiled. Maybe this item isn't ordered often. Good leak-free packaging for the delivery though - lots of tape! 5 Stars for the female UberEats worker who delivered by bike (in December)! I'll stick to in-person ordering & pick-up (the pupusas take a little time to make, but worth it) & hopefully the quality improves. The service & staff has always been great and it's a cute restaurant for a date or even families!

They were so kind and understanding, and made great suggestions for vegetarian items. We took a bunch of pupusas, with spinach, loroco (edible flower), beans and mushroom, all with cheese as well. It doesn't say on the menu, but the $3.50 per pupusa actually includes sauce and coleslaw (that's why there's a two pupusas minimum). We decided to try Morritos a small nondescript diner-like cafe with about five small square tables lined up against one wall and a long bar with stools opposite.which extended the length of the restaurant; a large El Salvadorian flag hanging in the front window. We sat at the bar and ordered three Papusas and a chicken tamale. Firstly the tamale was delicious, fresh, moist and chicken seasoned well with small olives and mild spices. it was a very pleasant surprise and we were glad we'd decided to try it, probably the best tamale I've had outside of Mexico (not that I've tried many here). We also ordered a Shrimp, Chicken and Spinach Papusa but they didn't have shrimp at the time so we opted for Cheese & Bean instead. The Papusas were made and cooked right in front of us (while sitting at the bar) they were fresh, soft in the center and slightly crispy on the bottom, flavors were simple, light and good. Not a huge amount of ingredients/filling but I imagine that's how they're meant to be and we were more than satisfied with our decision. Melted cheese oozing from the pancake like dough, small side of coleslaw and sauce for topping. Next time we'll ask for green chili sauce on the side too (noticed someone else order them as we were wrapping up). The ladies cooking and serving were efficient, sweet and prompt. It seemed only one woman spoke English and if you're in the mood for something simple and inexpensive give it a go. This place deserves 4 stars for all that it is.
